Originally from Columbus, OH, Andy attended Columbus College of Art and Design briefly before becoming a cartoonist full-time. “My career started working as an illustrator / writer for CollegeHumor in Manhattan, but these days I just juggle a bunch of random projects that individually earn enough money to keep my head above water. Andy told us a little bit about his characters: “Kevin and Pink Wolf, the de facto leaders of the wolf pack, are complete opposites. Despite that, they’re also real good pals, two peas in a pod, birds of a feather, two spirits entwined, soul mates, and the single most important thing in each other’s lives. That is to say; they love each other very much, which can be a real hassle when they have totally different ways of dealing with the day to day struggles of being wolves. Whether it’s trying to finally hunt and eat Doug the Middle Aged Deer, or trying to create technology out of sticks and rocks so they can compete with humans, their yin-yang, optimism-vs-pessimism, gruff-vs-sweet dynamic turns every situation into a tug of war.” 

The artist, who is obsessed with peaceful building co-op games like Minecraft and Satisfactory, shared that “the soul of Awoo is love, acceptance, and goofiness. Whether it’s dealing with Tim the Nihilist Wolf’s insistence that the void will consume us all, asking Jeremy the half-man/half-wolf what it’s like living with the humans, or running away from Toby the Possum (You mustn't speak his name!), optimism always wins over cynicism, usually through Kevin’s unshakably good nature.” Andy also says that he has the world's largest collection of regrets, but as you can see from his comics de definetely oozes positivity and manages to inspire others flawlessly. 

Andy also mentioned a few artists that he has an artistic crush on and that make him laugh. “Shen, because he’s awesome. Kim Winder-Thais is kicking ass with The Red Dot. Zach Stafford does the most consistently funny gag comic on the internet, and Deogie is everything I could hope to achieve in the wholesome comic space—just a really exceptional content creator. There’s a million more creators I have giant creator crushes on, and I can’t list them all, but those are the first that popped into my head.”
