Today is Teacher Appreciation Day in the US. Do you appreciate your teacher? Probably not. But if they're good then you probably should. After, school can be kind of boring, and so it takes a very special kind of teacher to stop you from falling asleep at your desk every day.

I agree. Most professors would not allow a baby in their class because of disruptions, whatever, but this professor is not only allowing the baby, but calming down. Best professor ever!

I read an interview with him a while back. He wore the same outfit by accident the two first years, and his wife told him to turn it into a thing. He only wears the clothes at picture day; the rest of the year they are carefully stored, since they are starting to show wear.

Actually I remember this story - it wasn't only the fact he complimented student's shoes. The teacher was really poor and his shoes have had holes in the soles. So they decided to get him a new pair.

He's my undergrad professor and if anyone asks him to draw a map he will! He draws at least 1 map per class per semester. This was my sacred scriptures class, he's pretty cool but most students didn't get his nerdy references..

I took his mythology class at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. He came rolling down the aisle of the lecture hall on one "skate". Basically a skate with no shoe, just the wheels and a flat piece of metal.

I had a University Professor who taught an entire 3 hour lecture on the Viking Invasion wearing one of those horned Opera helmets with the long blonde braids. It was brilliant. He was the best.

That makes me kinda' sad. Vikings didn't wear those ridiculous helmets. They were added to costumes in an opera. Hope he gave a better picture of Norsemen than that. (They certainly weren't all blood-thirsty raiders.)

I had an amazing History teacher, who never explained a chapter from the book. He used to tell us the lesson as a story, where he impersonates the famous historical characters he is speaking of, and imagines the dialogue happening and acting it out. In the last 10 minutes, he would give us a brief of that story in bullet points to remember. It was the only history class I waited for impatiently ☺️

It is so dang important to have good maths teachers!! Most of mine were horrid so I learned to hate math which is sad because I actually like it better than subjects i excelled in. My entire life would be different if i had a better grasp of maths, it is that freaking important!!!

In sixth grade, our homeroom teacher's father died. She was a very strict disciplinarian and not a very popular teacher. The boys in the homeroom took up a collection and sent red roses for the funeral. The day she returned, she sent all the girls out of the class at the bell and kept us behind to thank us. We saw first-hand that she was, in fact, a compassionate human being behind the gruff façade, after all.

I don't see how this teacher is awesome, many of his students will be confused and be convinced that they are doing something wrong, even though they are perfectly correct, and perhaps flunk the class. Funny as it may seem to some people, i don't see how this teacher could be one of the awesomest teachers ever

This is amazing, especially when you hear about the other extreme - children being shamed and made to sweep floors to get school dinners, or having to go without food during school holidays. I wish no-one needed this, but in the meantime, what an awesome teacher.

I was in the army when someone actually paid for a pie but was too afraid to smash our shoddy sergent major with it so they all stood around & waited for someone to do something. Everyone hated the guy but he was known to use his rank to retaliate in harmful ways. I didn't care anymore at that point so I grabbed it and basically did a running leap that ended with a flying bitchslap of pie directly to the center of his face. It was glorious!!!
