When A Student’s Baby Started Crying In Class, This Professor Had The Best Response Ever
2.1Mviews
Professor Sydney Engelberg, a 45-year lecturing veteran at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, was unfazed when the child of a mother at his lecture on organizational behavior began to cry. The embarrassed mom tried to leave the class, but instead, the father-of-four and grandfather-of-five scooped the kid up and soothed him in his arms – without missing a beat in the lesson.
According to his daughter, Engelberg allows the mothers that attend his masters’ lectures to bring their children and even breastfeed. No mother should have to choose between a child and an education!

A mom stood up to leave Prof. Engelberg’s lecture when her baby wouldn’t stop crying
Instead, however, the professor took the child into his arms and continued teaching – as if nothing had happened
“The way he sees the concept of getting education is not only learning the dry facts that you need to learn in class, but also learning values,” wrote his daughter, Sarit Fishbaine

What about if there are more than one babies, I should think the universities and/or colleges have their creche facilities within the campus
Great idea!!
Breastfeeding is a marvelous option. It really keeps babies quiet.
I am thinking that the university will gonna have an idea to put their nursery school.
This is in Israel. They ALWAYS think outside the box there : )
Perhaps they do but the mother had her baby with her for other reasons.

What about sex ed and family planning to prevent that. Nobody should have to choose between a child and an education... at college age.
Miguel Lopez, not all student are in ther 20s. What to do if you are over 30 and finally getting your education.
What do you mean "college age"? I'm not a mother yet, but I'm 28, changing carreers and in college atm. Your comment was ridiculous.
That as u say is her baby n she wouldn't wish him away for nothing I think u find they do have sex ed at high school
what a stupid thing to say
Our university has it's own kindergarden right behind the main building, so that none of the students has to bring their kid to class. :)
What do students do if they have an exclusively breast fed baby? I've always wondered what new moms do in this situation while taking classs
Well, if you may bring your baby, you just breastfeed it, what's there to wonder? For decency, I used to lay a thin cloth over baby+breast.
They should breastfeed, absolutely they should! It is a good lesson about what REAL LIFE is all about, to all those around who need it. :)
Mary-Elizabeth Clinton, that's awful!

Brest pumps and bottles not the bonding time I'm sure that is wanted with breastfeeding but student mothers unfortunate sacrifice for a brighter future for there child
Pump where & when? When I was in school, I had classes back to back & home for me is 30 minutes away
The college I graduated from didn't allow mothers to bring their babies with them, & I wouldn't be able to wait 3 hours to nurse my son
My son nursed every 1 1/2 hours until he was 4 months old & still does when he's going through a growth spurt & he doesn't take a bottle.
Creator of two, not all babies will take a bottle.
why not do what working Mom's do... pump ... since she is close between classes she could drain and drop off
I exclusively breast fed, worked, and took college classes and my baby refused to take a bottle. So I would run home to nurse every 3 hours.
Breast pumps. Pump the extra after feeding, store in a chill bag, pop it in a bottle to feed.
And most classes are not more than three hours long so you can leave your child for a bit they are not attached to your nipple 24 hrs a day.
I had my son in my second year and he was breastfed. I had to express milk in the ladies` restroom and in closets and back stairs.
Pump lol
We pump, it's the only option!
