Ironically, this is a picture on the orange line in Boston, a city known for a history of racism. Not the lynching/burning crosses in yards kind of racism, but the casual, everyday racism that finds it acceptable to use the n-word and other racist terms in conversation without having to lower your voice or look over your shoulder first. It's the kind of racism where they say it and when it offends, they try to excuse it with "I didn't mean it like that..." or the ever popular "you get what I'm saying". Honestly, this guy is pretty brave to be wearing that hat where he is.

I agree to an extent, but that man is in no danger wearing a hat like that in Boston. Every city in the US has a history of racism and I'm pretty sure someone would get their a*s beaten for saying the n word on the T. Not a single town in MA voted for trump.

But in case you missed it, r/Awesome is a lovely part of Reddit (a social news aggregation, content rating, and discussion website) that is dedicated to all things awesome.

No, seriously, there are effectively very few limitations as to what you can find there. The description says that it is a subreddit “for everything that is awesome!” and the only rule the moderators are asking folks to follow (apart from the technical no gore, no smut, and no screenshots requirement) is to post “things that are incredibly rare or cool, not some ordinary cats, chicken, scenery, drawings or t-shirts etc., they are not awesome…”

Sure, you can argue with the chicken part, but the content is ultimately up to the users to judge. More or less.

You most likely need a tripod. I don't have a cell phone, so I could be wrong, but buying a basic, inexpensive tripod wouldn't hurt. The slightest shaking, even if you think there isn't any, is always going to be there and for the speed and aperture settings you need for a moon shot, your camera has to be absolutely still.

I really love dogs, as I’m a vet (and had a lot of foster dogs), but there is a good reason why there are dog-free beaches. First of all: some people are afraid of dogs, second: the annoying dog owners who don't clean up the poop of their dogs and then leave it (especially on the beach where you walk barefoot), just to name the major resons. The dogs whose owners do not have them under control not to mention. For me, there is a lot wrong with this picture and I find it more disrespectful than funny. But the dog is cute though. Like most of the time, the owner is the problem behind the picture.

With a little patience and care, white orchid and they inject the dye into the stems when the buds are tiny. It's a really interesting process.

I don't know about these ones, but it's very easy to dye white roses into a different color. In the Netherlands, people often teach this to young kids, because it's easy and kids are absolutely amazed by it. You just put the stem in water with food coloring and wait. And if you want a multicolored rose you split the stem in two (or more) and put each in a cup with a different color.

Have a full forearm tattoo of dandelions. They're the first food for bees, make excellent salads, beer, and wine, are a wonderful source of vitamin E, and the stems can be lip gloss, in a pinch. They can also wreck a timeline, and make kids believe in wishes. I'll happily purchase this.

It's an interesting contrast. Dandelion fluff is sometimes used as metaphor for something fleeting, something that you appreciate for a moment before it drifts away. That's definitely what photos and movies convey with the slow drift out of focus. Seeing something so temporary preserved in time, forever suspended, is... I'm not sure of the right adjective.

Same here! I know of one small town museum (Manitoba, Canada) that had a World War 1 horse drawn ambulance that had been sent to Canada to train medics. The other 11 are in Britain and the museum there would just LOVE to get that one, but so far the answer had been no.

Do a web search for "The Unique Egg" in St George, Qld, Australia. Hundreds of hand-carved emu eggs on display. Good write-up on TripAdviser. Emu egg shells have a great number of layers; each a different shade.

I got one of these from a farm and it was beautiful. So I put it on my mantle. Where it stayed for 3 long years. When it finally fell, it was the most God awful rotten egg that ever existed. 20 years out I can laugh but I was traumatized for a while. I can still smell it 21 years and 1500 miles away. Ugh.
