For people of the Northern Hemisphere, fall is officially here. The leaves are turning brilliant shades of orange, red, every shade of brown, gold and yellow; farmers’ markets are beginning to sell colorful carrots, peppers and pumpkins; the trees in the parks are all in different hues, creating a wonderful atmosphere with this huge explosion of color.

That is my question, too? How can #2 be so grand and this be #9? I personally would have chosen this picture over the first and the second. Not only the autumnal vast array of colors are present in abundance, so is the lake giving those same colors another venue of introspection and mystical properties not found on solid ground. Someone was not paying close enough attention to what is truly represented in this picture. Sad and disappointing. I am not the photographer nor do I have any connection to this contest.

I'd have given this the #9 spot on the list. Have walked through trails like this and it is an overwhelming spectrum of color and a total delight to be surrounded by such delicious scent in the air of the drying leaves becoming part of the soil.
