Coming from Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, Angelo Cristiano Da Silva Antunes, also known as "Animal-friendly Postman" on social media, has spent nearly a decade proving that a harmonious relationship between postmen and canines is more than just possible. His collection of photographs with his four-legged friends stands as evidence of the bonds he's formed with animals during his career.
Not only does Antunes interact positively with dogs, but he extends his warmth and friendliness to all animals he encounters on his delivery route. Cristiano is not just showing off; he actually has a purpose when it comes to what he's doing. The mailman frequently rescues animals in need of urgent veterinary care or placement in shelters while on his route. His dream is to open his own animal shelter to further support his furry friends, even beyond his current remarkable efforts.
Winning a dog's trust as a mail carrier is no easy feat, but Cristiano has a method. First, he greets the dog and acknowledges them, then lets them sniff his hand from a safe distance, allowing the dog to become familiar with him. Gradually, he gets closer to the dogs until they're comfortable enough to lick his face.
It's hardly shocking that this animal-loving mail carrier has a few dogs and three cats at home with his partner. He's been around dogs since childhood, which might be why canines welcome him as one of their own. After all, animals do have a sense when it comes to recognizing good people (at least that's what we'd like to think).

This man is a saint. He raises money for injured and wounded strays to get veterinary treatment. This dog is named Thor, who had a fractured leg and had to wear that retaining brace on his hind leg for many months. Thor made a full recovery and was finally adopted by a wonderful family last month!
