Best Friends
To take this photo, the artist made his dogs run together, starting at a different point so that the faster one could reach the slower one exactly on the log. It’s one shot that required a lot of preparation to understand their behavior running side by side.

Kenya is such a remarkable country and a favorite of mine. As I was leaving, a young Maasai was standing on a hill jumping up and down and he was waving, too. It was so beautiful. Sad, too, as I didn't want to end my trip.

It's because the water comes primarily from glacial melt. Diablo Lake, just across the border in northern Washington, is aquamarine for the same reason.

An Unexpected Journey
The photographer took a flight to Langkawi to photograph the highest suspension bridge on the planet. Once he arrived, the days were filled with fog and rain, obstructing the entire view from above. Not to be disheartened, he decided to end the day by taking a trip to a lighthouse recommended to him by one of the locals atop the bridge. He told him it was often left alone by tourists but that it was truly a sight to behold, and it was.

Yeah, the cabin looks like it has the same amount of visible detail as the dog. Too many photographers just seem to think “hi-res+hdr=good picture” but it usually just makes it look really weird and fake

I do not like this composition at all. Too many elements clambering for attention (all of them perfectly in focus): the mountains, the atmosphere, the cabin, the chaparral, the icy ground, the doggie and car intruding into the picture frame. What exactly is the subject?

Of all the beauty in this post, I think this is my favourite. It reminds me of childhood, and i can just smell the upcoming rain and feel the wind on my skin. This one would catch me in the field, soak me to the skin, and I'd be laughing all the way. Strange how a place you've never been to can start such a strong nostalgia in you. I long for it.

Her nose looks like the peel of an orange. Nice! Always loved and still love those pics of tiny animals who don't really look like us mammals, but are largely deviant from our idea of a face - we're not the gold standard, we're just one way of survival among a lot of other ones ... our superior feeling is false.

Even just "northwest Colorado" or "southeastern Japan" would be better than not knowing where in this big ol' world the photo was taken. I very much appreciate the ones who mention it. (Maybe I'm just a geography geek, I don't know, but I like knowing where these stunning places are on this planet.)
