When we talk about vandalism, as long as it doesn't involve actual vandals sacking cities, many people would agree that some acts of street art are funnier than they are criminal. And what about "culture jamming" and public activism? While acts of civil disobedience might include aspects with are technically a crime, should these hooligans be judged in the same light?

In San Pedro a street artist painted very realistic black and white cats on fences and walls, some idiot complained that this was graffiti and they were painted over, I miss the radon painted cats.

There used to be something similar in the LA River channel that you could see from the freeway near Griffith Park: There were black vertical covers on the ends of the storm drains, about 3' wide, and the black hinges on top suggested perfect cat faces with ears! There was a whole range of emotions (including one with an x over each eye by someone who must have disliked cats!). My children always enjoyed looking for those!
