Sometimes we get so used to everyday life, it becomes hard to imagine that things can be different. But they can. Whether it's out car getting scratched in the parking lot or our poop splashing in a public toilet so loud, everyone knows what we're doing, if there's a problem, there's a solution. Bored Panda has collected a list of genius ideas that have the potential to make some our day-to-day struggles go away, and while you in particular might not benefit from all of them, you'll still probably appreciate the effort that went into making them a reality.

The Bathroom At My Doctor's Office Has A Discreet Way For Victims Of Abuse, Violence, Or Human Trafficking To Get Help
The number is rather clever as well. The way it's written, it's a visual mnemonic device, meaning it helps the human memory to remember it. 888-3737-888 - with the differing numbers in red. Useful for someone who's in a hurry and can't write it down.
A Sign In The Women’s Bathroom For Those Who Feel Unsafe On A Date
'Ask For Angela' is a relatively new campaign designed to reduce sexual abuse on nights out. It originated in a pub in Lincolnshire, England, in 2016 and since then, it has received worldwide attention and has been adopted by bars and clubs across the globe.
This is so compassionate and wonderful. I hope it's also available for men. The statistics for men being victimized and abused are surprisingly high.
My Local Vet Has A Sign And Candle For When Someone's Pet Is Dying
As heartbreaking as it is to say goodbye to your pet, it's what most of them need during their final moments. "I beg you DO NOT LEAVE THEM,” a message shared by Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic in South Africa read. "Do not make them transition from life to death in a room full of strangers in a place they don’t like. The thing you people need to know that most of you don’t is that they search for you when you leave them behind. They search every face in the room for their loved person. They don’t understand why you left them when they are sick, scared, old, or dying from cancer and they need your comfort.”
There is a bench outside my vet on the grass - no one ever sits there unless they are crying. I call it the "Crying Bench". Sat there myself. It's so sad to see someone else going through that...
Load More Replies...I had a vet once (no more because of this) that made me wait in the very public waiting room while they de-wormed a walk-in. I had an appointment. I was barely holding it together and they took a walk-in and de-wormed it. Then, when I came out after the walk-in was still there. I heard them ask what was going on and the receptionist told them 'She just put her pet down. Though, it was just a cat so I don't know what the hysterics are about'. All three stared at me while I carried my now empty carrier out to my car. I'll never go back to that vet.
I am sorry for your loss. The vet employee was insensitive and unprofessional. Every pet is special. "...it was just a cat...". The person sounds like an animal snob. I would not go back either.
Load More Replies...Once had to have a dog, my darling, put to sleep. Cancer, pain. I left, crying quietly but obviously upset with my dear dkg's collar and lead in my hand. I wanted to keep these mementos. I had to leave via the same waiting room I entered. Same people with their pets saw me go in and then come back, petless. Awful for me, and them. Years later, I had to do the same again. Went in through the waiting room. My lovely love.y dog was put to sleep, cancer again. I did not cry until she was dead, then I cried. I left via a back door in the vet's , with her collar, and did not upset anyone in the waiting room. They did not see my heartbreak either. My upset was private, and my grief did not upset all the pet lovers there. All it needed was another door. Entrance and exit.
When we had to let go the mom of our other two cats I was devistated. I don’t remember crying that hard over a human! Luckily there weren’t any other people because we scheduled it and being a smaller off shot of the main office it’s not busy. We’ve been going there for years so everyone knows us. The lovely lady that works the desk went into the back and brought out the cutest 3 legged kitten to cheer me up so I could compose myself. That little girl was still there for rehab until they could find a forever home. That cutie jumping and running and being so happy even after having a leg amputated (due to a neglectful person). It’s hard to cry when you see that kind of joy! Find a good vet and stick with them!
Had to put my dog down a few weeks ago. I was alone and an absolute wreck. The staff at the ER Hospital were so kind. They sent a card out the following week with personal statements which were appreciated.
We've had to put several pets down, and we've always been treated so kindly by everyone at the vet's office, and when I go still sobbing through the waiting room, by the other customers. I've received kind words from unexpected people.. And we've received after each pet; it seems to be a custom at \vets' offices now, and I appreciate it.
Load More Replies...Our vet has a special "goodbye" room for putting pets to sleep. There are candles, nice smells, low lighting, and of course kleenex. I have been there too often lately, but I'm grateful for it.
This is so sweet. It saddens me to see people picking up their ashes of a beloved pet. I love my vet because he takes his lunch time to come to the house to euthanize pets in their own home and bed. We have used this service twice and has made my grieving process easier.
There was an article recently on BP that was about that subject. I noticed it was removed a couple of days later. I'm glad I got to read it, even if it was heartbreaking.
Load More Replies...I had to hug my doggo harder after seeing this. She's getting older, and I dread the day when she will pass.
My vet has this too. They also have a private exit for the grieving room where you can stay with your pet till they pass and then you can leave by private exit so you don't run into people or other animals.
They do this in my local vets too, its so sad, I have been in that situation and its horrible.
I had to go through this... our vet had one. That is the WORST day of any ones life.
The vet where I took my 18 year old Nore to be put to sleep when he was ready had a box with fairy lights in it, with the same thing. When we were leaving without my boy, and I saw they had the lights on for him, I about lost it right in the waiting room. Still brings tears to my eyes, a year later. So very compassionate, and also a wonderful memorial. It was like the whole office was lighting a candle for the passing of a Very Good Boy.
I went to a vet that had one of these when we had to put a pet rat to sleep. They didn't light it for us. I'm hoping they just forgot, but part of me can't help but think that a lot of people still don't value pets that aren't cats and dogs as much.
I am sure that they forgot. Loss of a pet is not related to size and every life is valued. I have just spent a small fortune on my bird due to illness, and would do so again, because size does not matter.
Load More Replies...I can't guve thus an arrow up, but i wish there was a, I respect this so much button.
My vets office has a battery operated candle they light in an event like this! I hope I never have to be the one with the candle lit
Wish the place I took my 18 year old dog to had this. I dropped him off only k owing he was having problems breathing. I got a call at 1am telling me I needed to give them consent right away to end his pain. I went in the next day and they told me to drive around back to receive the body and then during the week I got a bill for $970.
That candle has a brand new wick and has never been lit -- that must be the best vet in the world, I'm definitely taking my dog there!
Would think they replace the candle every time. I would be sad to see that candle well used and burned down.
Load More Replies...My vet has this, and it was so very much appreciated by us last year....
That is the sweetest thing Ive heard today. And unfortunately close to home as I had to take my best friend Jasmine to the vet for this very thing. All in my feels.
Two days ago I had to make the heart wrenching decision to have my beloved Cocker Spaniel cross the Rainbow Bridge. For 11 years she was my snuggle buddy, my tear washer, my never-fail to be happy girl - except when I left the house without her. Being the guardian of our cherished animals is so heartbreaking when we have to say the final goodbye.
Our vet does this. Unfortunately, it was lit for two of our dogs last year. :(
My local vet has this as well... And unfortunately I needed it 2 years ago...
This is the first thing I noticed when we were interviewing veterinarians to give care to our dogs. We are dog breeders of purebred dogs and it is important that a veterinarian is that sensitive to a pet owner's loss. Thank you Dr. Gwendolyn Steffen DVM for being such a special and aware veterinarian.
This has become quite common - to the extent that these signs and electric candles are sold by Vet wholesale companies nationally
I took my brother's dog to the vet. It was Monday and there was a long line. Everyone in line was chatting to their neighbors when suddenly it got very quiet. It came down the line, someone kitty had to be put down. Soon a little girl and her mom exited the veterinarian office in tears. Everyone kept quiet until they left.
I could've used this a couple months ago when I lost my Cid. Everybody was very nice and solemn, but it felt weird hearing other clients come in acting all normal when my world was falling apart (how dare they, right?).
We had to put our cat down last year. One of the hardest things we ever had to do. In the waiting room a dog came up to us and kissed us,making faces at us. He knew we were sad. If it wasn't for him, I think I would've lost my mind. The vet sent us a card a week later with his paw print. I cried all over again.
This is lovely! Would be a great idea in all vet offices but hope I never have to see it lit!!!
My vet has this too. I think it is so compassionate for the grieving family because losing a pet is essentially losing a family member which is extremely hard.
My Vet does this as well..they are so compassionate. One of the reasons I go there..
it should be lit at all times. it's stressful for a sick cat to be waiting while people allow their dogs to bark their stupid brains out,
I love this idea. My vets don’t do this. However when I took my 22yr old cat last June I couldn’t go in with her, my sister did, I sat in the waiting room and the receptionist sat with me because I kept blacking out. When I had to take my dog in October my dad and I couldn’t even go into the vets, my sister had to take her in. The vets are brilliant as is my sister.
We just lost our ferret Teddy last night. The staff at the office was amazing and respectful. He will be missed.
Actually, most vet's offices now have this. At least all of the ones I've been in in the last 3-4 years.
Our vet does this and I thought it was a wonderful idea for those having to say goodbye to their loved one..
We just had to say goodbye to our Baxter it would have been nice to have seen this
Unfortunately, I am a huge sucker for animals dying, so if I see it lit, I might cry, and I find it hard to cry quietly. On the other hand, I'm not generally that loud when I'm happy, so...
This Park Has A Swing For Wheelchair Users
The freefall that these swings provide is about 4.3 feet (1.3m) and they can safely take on a load of up to 4,400 pounds (2,000 kg). Moreover, the rope pull included within the design allows those with upper body mobility to swing themselves independently.
I love this idea! Every park should incorporate these swings so the disabled children are never left out!
These Lines Go Up The Wall So You Can Park Perfectly In-Between The Lines
Everyone wants to drive until it's time to park in a cramped corner. This particular one was found in Seattle, under the Amazon Go store. And even though the driver on the left didn't back backwards, it actually has a lot of benefits. Most importantly, reversing into a parking space gives you greater control and makes it easier to manoeuvre out the space. Avoiding reverse parking usually leads into much more difficult situations, trying to wiggle your car out of a tight space when you parked front-first.
A Color Blind Viewer
The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Tennessee State Parks have partnered to install “color blind” viewfinders at five state park locations across the state. In total, there are 11 of them installed in Tennessee.
In Singapore The Elderly Can Tap Their Identity Card To Have More Time At The Pedestrian Crossing
Swiping the card at a sensor gives its holder an extra 3 to 13 seconds to walk across, depending on the size of the crossing.
My Moms 3D Printed Cast. She Can Take A Shower With It!
For everyone wondering, it's held together with zip ties. From scan to cast, it took the woman about 2 weeks to get it. While the company printed it in just a few days, the longest part of the process was drafting the print and shipping it from Colorado to Florida.
This Toilet Flushes By Using Your Foot
This mechanism is located in a toilet in Mexico and you don't have to be a germaphobe to appreciate it. Unsanitary public toilets can lead to gut infections, lung and skin infections as well as STDs. If a stool doesn't look clean but you really need to use it, consider using tissue paper to open its door, using the toilet seat cover, and if there isn’t one, cleaning the toilet seat with a tissue paper before using it or even hovering closely above the toilet.
This is actually pretty common in europe. Same system for the water to wash your hands..
This Hexagonal Graph Paper For Organic Chemistry
Ideal for chemistry notes and practice, the non-intrusive lines also allow legible note taking if there's anything you need to write down.
Sure its not for designing D&D dungeons? I mean, I love organic chemistry but I know what I'd spend every chemistry lesson doing if I had that...
My Grocery Store Started Selling Overripe, Discount Bananas With A Recipe For Banana Bread On The Bag
This solution comes at a time when it's needed the most. Americans waste 150,000 tons of food each day – equal to a pound per person. Also, fruit and vegetables were the most likely to be thrown out, followed by dairy and then meat.
By the way, interestingly enough, banana bread is actually a somewhat young dish. It first became a standard feature of American cookbooks with the popularization of baking soda and baking powder in the 1930s.
This Shop Has A Option To Shop Alone Or With Assistance
The shop is located in UAE, Dubai. For the complete antisocial experience, bring earphones.
This Dish Soap Lists The Purpose For Each Ingredient
It's a great way of making people less afraid of this kind of products. Chemicals ten do have weird names, so people think weird things about them. Explaining each in plain language for non-chemists is a great idea.
I Adapted A Rubik's Cube For The Blind
Rubik's Cubes for blind people have been available for some time now. For example, the Braillecube is an attempt to adjust this timeless toy to the needs of people with impaired vision - the design makes them "feel" the colors. The first letters of the color are written on the cube in braille in the order of the colors on the original cube.
As of January 2009, 350 million cubes had been sold worldwide making it the world's top-selling puzzle game.
The Hotel I Am Staying At Has The Fire Evacuation Plans At Ground Level So You Can See Them If Smoke Has Filled The Hallways
This is especially thoughtful considering that smoke inhalation is the primary cause of death for victims of fires. Some 50–80% of all fire deaths are the result of smoke inhalation injuries, including burns to the respiratory system.
Washing Your Hands To Flush The Toilette
Urinal-sink combos like this save water by reusing the hand-washing water to rinse out the urinal. Presumably, it could also allow bathrooms to be more compact and less expensive to install, as it replaces two appliances with one, thus requiring less plumbing works.
Supermarket Trolleys In Sweden Have A Map Of The Supermarket
It's about time we got something like this. Rick Paulas of the Pacific Standard has compared the current design of many grocery stores to casinos. "There are lights and sounds that re-focus attention every micro-second, carpet on the ground to offer cushion for our feet, an open-flow space from the slot machines to the poker tables to the roulette. But what's more important is what's not there: clocks on the wall, bathrooms, escape routes. The reason is obvious — can't spend money if you're not present—and they point toward why supermarkets attempted to get their customers lost."
There is a reason this isnt a thing everywhere. Supermarket dont want you to know where things are, they want you to be slow, look at everything and buy more.
This Stall For Your Dog Outside A Super Market In Copenhagen
No petting, no taunting, no questionable treats, perfect! Just don't plan to spend the night there yourself. A writer for The Outline tried a similar booth and apparently they have cameras/sensors watching and the company will fine people who get in.
I would definitely put both of my kids in this, my dog never asks for every damn thing in the store.
Perfectly Flat Floor, Designed To Stop People From Running In The Hallway
The design, partly inspired by Alice in Wonderland, took more than 400 tiles to create.
This Bathroom In The Atlanta Airport Has Lights To Let You Know If A Stall Is In Use
Manufactured by Tooshlights, the smart latch and deadbolt communicate wirelessly with the indicator light. When the stall is available, the light is green. When the stall is occupied and the smart latch or deadbolt is locked, the light illuminates red.
This is actually terrific bc ATL airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. It's easier to just see a light than to get halfway down and realize the door is shut only to walk back and the next person in line is taking a just open stall that u missed bc u were checking another one. This helps save time too when you're rushing to get to a flight and have to go! Literally "go". ;)
A Public Bike Stand With A Built-In Pump
This cool multi-purpose mechanism was photographed in Utrecht, the Netherlands. And this doesn't come as a surprise. Cycling is a common mode of transport in the Netherlands, with 36% of the people listing the bicycle as their most frequent mode of transport on a typical day.
My School Just Installed A CVS Vending Machine Full Of Medicine And Hygiene Products
To help customers navigate this new shopping experience, the vending machines, will feature a 22" multi-touch screen, displaying high resolution images with expansive product information and more.
My Local Car Wash Has A Gun For Kids That Shoots Soap Suds At The Cars Going Into The Car Wash
A professional car wash requires only 5 – 8 minutes on average and typically use up to 50% less water than at home washes. Now, it's a lot more fun, too!
A Business Card For Kids Who Are Allowed To Go Places By Themselves
The organization behind the campaign, Let Grow, state that "treating today’s kids as physically and emotionally fragile is bad for their future, and [the] country's. With an unpredictable and rapidly changing economy ahead, kids need to be flexible, creative problem-solvers. They can’t solve their problems if adults are always right there, solving them first!"
Love this. Especially the stats on it being safer today. Fear is a powerful thing, and unfortunately fear mongering is a huge business.
This Pizza Box Can Be Torn In Half And Folded To Create A Smaller Box For Leftovers
To make your leftover pizza taste better, experts suggest reheating it face down in a pan and adding water to the bottom of the skillet. If you have to use a microwave, however, add a glass of water in there to avoid soggy crust.
This Car Park In France Has Soft Barriers Between Parking Spaces To Stop People Scratching Other Cars
Probably gets people to park between the lines better, too! Just think of all the a**hole drivers that will be unable to use multiple spots at once!
The Inside Of The Pizza Box Was A Tuxedo
The organization behind the idea, Pizza Bib, offer custom designed boxes both outside and inside. "While sitting on the couch after a few too many beers our founder Jack decided to order his favorite pizza. Wearing his brand new t-shirt, he decided to use the ordinary pizza box as a bib, keeping his brand new t-shirt clean he thought about how you could add fun designs to keep himself clean and have a whole lot of fun."
This Menu In An Italian Restaurant, Is Shaped Like A Circle Showing You What The Type Of Pizza Would Look Like
This pizzeria is located in Prague, Czech Republic. According to the person who took this photo, "it's literally above the metro station of Chodov on the Red/C line!" If you still can't find it, just look for a sign that has a hotdog on it and says "Pizza." Ye, we know.
My Classroom Has A Mirror So We Can See Teacher's Counter When He’s Cooking
Commenting on this picture, some redditors remembered having the same setup in their Home Economics cooking classes all the way back in the 80s!
They watch him cook?? In Denmark we learn by doing in cooking class.
This Shoe Shop Has An Area To Test Your New Shoes, Containing Lego
Reportedly, this test "track" is located in a Leguanos store which sells the so-called barefoot shoes, really bendy shoes that supposedly make you feel like you're barefoot.
If a 25 years old man is caught building lego instead of walking on it, what is the punishment? Asking for a friend.
Don't know why, but periodically, on Bored Panda, there is an invasion of Super Smart People that have to comment every single picture with their negative and disruptive comments. Do they problem of lack of attention from other people? Why not just skipping BP and discharging your negativity on another similar website? Jeez, so annoying...
There are some really amazing ideas/solutions here that I would love to see used all over the world. Maybe we can all work together to get these constructed where needed. This thread also inspires me to come up with more ideas for people from all walks of life.
SAME!!! I was looking at the article earlier. I had to go somewhere without WiFi, but i left the tab on. When I got back I intended to be on #92, but I was on #12...bored panda, no offence, but you guys have GOTTA stop doing that.

It’s good to have a reminder that there are good, decent, thoughtful people in the world who have the ideas and energy to make it a better place for their fellow humans. Thanks.
The cast one was ingenious, I'm wearing a cast right now for my ankle surgery recovery. Everything becomes 100x harder when you can't walk and it's such a pain to shower. (Tip: Buy a knee scooter, not crutches. Your armpits will thank you.)
I remember being thankful I had a removable shower head so I could tie by leg up in a garbage bag and hang it out the side of the tub while I lay on my back. Sucked so much!

Looking pretty doesn't mean something is designed well.it is also very refreshing to see how those who have been excluded from the simple pleasures that "normal" folk enjoy are now a part of design decisions. Work on the black hole interior of a woman's purse next. I have found stuff I hadn't seen since the third grade in some of my black interior bags. Screwdriver, superglue, Swiss Army knives, jellybeans with hair. It's an adventure. Nothing living so far.
Yup. LED lights on Christmas sweaters are a silly wasteful use of electronics; sticking one inside a purse would be clever. So would a gray or tan lining.
Load More Replies...I've seen the toilet light idea for car parking spaces in a multi storey carpark and wished that was done in more places, so annoying when you drive round a carpark for ages looking for a good space only to find a smart car or mini where you thought you could see a space
I know Stefano. It seems like people just want to complain about everything. Why? Did you know when they "started" the peace talks during the Korean War it took ONE YEAR to decide what shape the table would be!!!! One year! I wonder how many men, women and children died in that year. Unbelievable!
