There are days when it feels like the world is going against you. You’re late for work, and the keys have just fallen into the drain hole. But day-breaking fails have been well documented in the history of humankind, and there’s a silent agreement not to talk about ‘em too much. Unless it’s the misfortune of others and in that case, you may wanna hit Bored Panda’s previous compilations here, here, and here.
But what hasn’t been chronicled that well is animals going through a rough day, and we are about to change that. You heard me right. Our beloved furry companions have vile days too and they’re just as painfully funny. Squirrels, horses, doggos, they've all had their fair share of 24 hours turned nightmare.
So get some popcorn ready 'cause you’re about to see what a bad day looks like in the animal kingdom. And trust me, just because they don't have keys to fall into a drain hole doesn't mean they have it easier.

My Dog Ran Away, After Hours Of Looking I Came Home To This
Oh, Ralph
Bored Panda reached out to Karen Johnson, a doctor of veterinary medicine, certified canine rehabilitation practitioner, and the co-founder of VIP Vet Visit, who shared her expertise on pets dealing with stressful situations. Because apparently, it’s not only us who get our blood up to a boiling temperature from time to time.
Karen explained that every pet handles stress differently, but it’s important to notice what your particular pet does when they’re having hard times. Having said that, some pets do, in fact, cope with stress better than others.
“Dogs seem to be better equipped to handle stressful situations than cats,” the doctor explained. “Cats,” on the other hand, “very often can make themselves ill due to stress or have behavioral problems such as urinating outside the litter box.”

Often, it's people who add some fire to animals' stress levels. “It is very noticeable that if an owner is worried or stressed, the pet becomes anxious, nervous, and stressed as well. They can sense your emotions.”
Imagine if your pet saw you reacting like the world is turning against you after your car keys got into the drain hole—chances are, he would be stressed out too.

The canine rehabilitation practitioner warned owners to look out for these signs of stress in pets: panting, shaking, lip licking, yawning, whining, pacing, hiding and shedding.
“If you notice any of these behaviors, you should stay calm and relaxed,” Karen suggested. Only when you’re feeling calm yourself can you go on to the next step of finding out what triggers averse emotions in your furry friend.

My Husband And I Can Officially Check "Pull A Balloon String Out Of A Cat's Butthole At 11:30 At Night" Off Our Bucket List. Finally
Just a reminder for those who might experience this in the future. You can cut the protruding rope and let the cat keep passing it. Pulling it out can damage their little organs.
A friend's cat died because of this although they didn't pull it out. It damaged her organs anyways. They didn't know what was wrong with her, but she wasn't her usual self and started to throw up. They took her to the vet but it was already too late. So yeah... if your cat ate gift ribbon, take it to the vet immediately.
Take any animal who ate any kind of string to the vet. It's hard to save them after it has left the stomach.
Load More Replies...We've literally just had to go through something similar. Found thread hanging out our cat's rear end, took her to the vet, somehow she'd swallowed an interdental toothbrush!? and thread and they got tangled. She was extremely lucky the vet managed to massage it out without surgery. We've had to baby proof absolutely everything in the house, worse than having kids. :o
Last year my little (feline) boy, came racing through the living room and up a wall, finally cornered him and he had swallowed some thread and nature was taking its course. He was NOT a happy camper, thankfully all that was holding it in there was a knot about the size of a pea, so it was an easy fix. The worst part was he looked at me the entire time like he was sure that pulling a ball of blue string from his butt was the highlight of my life.
Please be careful and don't pull it out if this happens again. It can kill the cat and happens way too frequently. It isn't a rare thing to have happen. Take the cat to the vet instead!
Load More Replies...Yes, be oh so careful. The string might be long enough to wrap around an intestine and be more of a problem than just vigilantly cutting poop-covered string coming out the cat’s butt a few inches at a time.
We pulled a string out once. We knew how long it was. Called the vet and she walked us through it. If it had been longer we would have had to go to the vet. Cat was humiliated but fine. She doesn't go near strings anymore.
HOW THE F**K???? What if it was one of those Christmas cracker snappers?
I caught my dog pooping a plastic t.v. dinner film after a garbage raid in the kitchen. I had to grab a paper towel and pull or he would have been stuck like that for days.
OMGosh I had the same thing happen with my rescue cat, Glorybee, I was horrified because it was a pink ribbon. I did cut it.
This is not funny. Cats have died eating string and ballons deflate and kill wildlife.
my cat ate a long piece of floss today. Is this what I have to look forward to?🤷♀️
Don't let the cat pass it trough! It can get entangled and kill the cat. Cut it a bit shorter and get the cat to an emergency vet ASAP. (what a s****y advice!)
That's an interesting bucket list you have. BTW tinsel is just as much fun!
I once had to pull an entire gardeners glove that was hanging half way out of my labs but. So disgusting. It wasn't even chewed up very much. Animals will eat anything!
Our cat did this with tinsel, then ran round the house with a string of tinsel poop sausages flapping about behind her.
OMG, this could have turned out so much worse. Poor kitty! This is exactly why you need to throw all kinds of string (dental floss, narrow ribbon, etc.) directly into the garbage, where kitties can't get at it.
BORED PANDA - you need that safety warning about not pulling it to be BOLD AND RED
Same thing happened when our cat ate the string from around a cooked roast...the vet yanked and pulled it out.
I had to do that many years ago with my dog. She ate a lot of stuff. She loved dental floss. Don't ask.
We had same surprise after our kitty ingested Easter grass from daughter’s basket. Recycled by the next day!
When I was lil I ate tiny lines of cloth strings or wrap them round meh hand and cut off blood circulation. Yes I was weird
my kitty keeps eating strings as soon as she finds them ... there never was a string coming out - not the butt, not the litter box ... was expecting a colourful sweater by now (after 9 years)
My friends family had a midsized mutt that always wore a red bandana around it's neck. Well, that is until it vanished and his mom had to pull it out of his butt, just like this...
I had to do this with my dog and a plastic shopping bag. It compacted into a cigar-shaped thing and got stuck on the way out. We had no idea where he got the bag since we hadn't had one in the house since before we got the dog. Where he found the bag and how he survived the episode without choking or suffocating is a mystery that I wonder about 25 years later!
I had to pull red Christmas tinsel out of my cat's butt at my daughter's graduation party in May. First, I thought she was bleeding to death in front of everyone. Second, I don't know where she got tinsel in May. I didn't ever want her to give me a look when the vet puts a thermometer up her butt after this.
And this can also involve emergency surgery if it gets itself into an obstruction
My cat CoffeeCake swallowed a sisal rope from her scratching post and was crying her head off as she ran as if her tail was on fire. In a panic I pulled the rope out for her crying was nagging at my ears. It was 8 inches long. I hid or threw anything else that resembled such. Every once in awhile she'll nibble on anything that resembles a mouse tail. Such as my wires.😣😑
You haven't done it all until you've had to extract extruded bubble gum!
if that's the worst thing you have ever seen - don't have kids. Seriously.
I love her face. She can’t contain her laughter! I know how that is, especially around Christmas time. Go to clean the litter box, and see gold and silver tinsel mixed in. LOL
We had the same thing happen when our cat ate the string from the weekend beef joint., and yes, we did have to cut it off regularly as it appeared.
Had a cat over 40 years ago had about a 4inch/4cm blade of grass sticking out of her butt. Mom tried to pull it out but no luck. About 30 minutes, latter there was a turd with the blade of grass sticking out if one end, setting in the cat box.
Yeah, once found a piece of yellow string coming out of one of our cats's bum. I gave it a tiny tug, but it didn't shift, so I let it come out in its own time.
But how did it get there ....and why? Clearly yes it would have had to eat it but seriously...
We had to stop putting tinsel on our Christmas trees for this exact reason.
Had this with a piece of fishing nylon after my cat destroyed my craft basket. My son asked if she'd eaten a radioactive spider recently... 🤷
I once had to pull a neon shoe string out of an English bulldogs proper a**e, slowly and carefully, because him and his brother ate EVERYTHING

We've just gone back into lockdown for 6 weeks - this was the perfect pick-me-up!!
Oh, so sorry for you. Too bad you, like us here in the States, are ruled by morons.

Funny, but in some of these I would have headded for helping the animal before taking a photo.

The cat falling off the table one was my favorite, couldn’t stop laughing!!
Why are half of these animals fat, stolen human food or just getting human food? How hard is it to not give dogs burgers or other human food. And how hard is it to make sure your dog cant reach it. I wouldnt want to give my dog stomach aches or worse.... apparently it funny...
Am I the only one who noticed majority black cats in a pickle? My black cat is quite clever

Oh no, that would offend Pandas, they just want to laugh.
