The “Be Like Bill” meme is sweeping the Internet, amusing some and annoying others. Bill is the creation of Eugeniu Croitoru, a Moldovan who lives in Milan, who considers himself to be an Internet entrepreneur.
"No, Bill is much better than me," Croitoru told the BBC. "The idea is very simple. 'Bill' can be anyone who is smart and has common sense and doesn't do annoying things. You'll also notice Bill can be someone who makes fun of himself and jokes about others too occasionally."

On the other hand, nothing wrong with mentioning actions in order to inspire other people to do the same. For example, if one saves a person, it might be helpful to explain how one did it.

I've unfriend somebody who did this a lot and also she would argue with her husband on Facebook instead of taking it to PM's. I can't stand vague booking at all and it was encouraged by Myspace with the button to click to show what mood you were in. I always ignore friends of friends who do this and they are usually followed with replies such as "what's up hun?" and the vague booker eventually picking out one friend that they will PM leaving the rest who had expressed concern none the wiser. And the use of the term 'hun' is rather vulgar. Why not use the real name of the vague booker.

I believe @joanneDunn was perhaps speaking of people In their 60's. But even that would be incorrect because people of varying ages saw Mr. Bill when he was introduced on Saturday Night Live in I975; I was 11. My son, who is now 29, also knows who Mr. Bill is. This is Moe - Moe knows that the friends who aren't interested can block those requests, and then their names won't appear on the list when she's sending out invites. So Moe believes if her friend's name is on that list, then the friend doesn't mind getting requests (or they don't care enough either way to find out how to remove themselves from the list).

That isn't always the right thing to do. If someone posts that they just lost a parent, spouse, friend, etc., what they need is to know that they are supported and to hear words of comfort. In such situations, a lot of times people really don't know what to say - but saying nothing at all just makes the one with the loss feel even worse. A simple "I'm sorry for your loss" is enough to at least let the person know you care, which is what they really need.

This is so true!! It also applies when you're standing on the bus stop and you can hear the person's car coming from 3 blocks away because of the ridiculously loud base speaker they installed, and all their windows wide open. Making matters worse, they're usually blasting the non-cleaned version of the worst rap music around. ----------------- All I lack on a Monday morning in winter at 7am, freezing on the bus stop, is some car going by blasting "music" calling me a whore, b***h and other, even less flattering names - and describing in gruesome detail what the owner of that car thinks should be done to all women (by his choice of music). Makes you want to cut your own ears off!!

If you're going to make a comment snarky demanding that someone proof their work, you had better do the same. Capitalize the name Bill, make the U in Unlike lowercase and get rid of the space after that ellipsis, and use a period instead of a comma after "This is Bill". A comma is also needed after "Proof your work".

Besides, eventually "Bill" will get older, or get injuries from repetitive motion, etc.. As time goes on, he will exercise less, because life, and pain, will limit him. Little by little, all those big muscles will turn into a huge paunch of fat around his mid-section... and Bill will wish he had spent less time in the gym and more time outside, making friends, enjoying nature, etc. You can be just as healthy riding a bike in a park, or hiking in the woods, after all... you don't need to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger (yech)... and frankly, it's not THAT attractive when you do!!

I used to loathe Starbucks, because they're not the greatest. But they're CONSISTENTLY, not the greatest. Unfortunately, many local cafes I frequented instead for being not the greatest ended up being absolutely terrible. So instead of buying undrinkeable coffee 10 percent of the time, and glorious coffee 90 percent of the time, I go for mediocre coffee 100 percent of the time, made the exact same way. And I live in Seattle, so they're a local company for me, and I know people that work for them as roasters, baristas,etc

The artist behind this image is referring to those who have no connection whatsoever to a famous person. For example, Robin Williams died, and my friend who never saw his movies or really cared about him starts posting images, quotes, lines and so on seeming inspired. This happens because people see a famous death as a source of attention. "Oh, everyone is posting about this, it's popular, therefor I will get likes if I post about it." The artist is at no moment targeting the people who are actual fans, connected in some way to the famous person. And to the ones saying Bill is judgmental, it's not Bill, it's his creator, and the whole purpose of this comic is the funny, sarcastic judgement. Please learn to respect humor and thoroughly read it before you post, especially if you fail to understand it.

I don't agree with this one. I would notify people if I were in the hospital, or even going to the ER. I have family and friends all over the country, so the only way they will know how I'm doing is via FB (which is much easier for the patient to update than to individually email each person). Define useless, please. I like to take pictures of sunsets/sunrises, and I often will take a zoomed-in pic of a single flower (if it has a dew drop on it, even better). Some may find those pictures useless - but others may find them beautiful. So what is your definition of "useless"?

The word r****d isn't a slur, it comes from the word retardation (Synonym: delay) which is literally the professional term. The word retardation originates way back in Latin and Greek, and is now used in modern medicine. The way the word is used today does not change it's real meaning. It's like saying the word heterosexual is a slur.

Being loved and respected is not synonymous with buying flowers. It's a nice gesture that shows affection, but it's not the same. Blowjobs are a way to show affection too, so by this logic, bill's girlfriend should be giving him beej's because bill must be loved and respected. This encourages people to valuate the affection of their husband/boyfriend based on how much money they spend on you.

I hate it when people do that. Especially when they go to the gym, sit on the bike on level 1 (which is basically nothing, it's not even a bloody workout), and they check their Facebook; and there I am, on level bloody 10, sweating like a pig with this person on their Facebook next to me. If you want to check your phone constantly, go home, or go live in an internet café!

sure, don't get angry. However, Bill's girlfriend should also know it takes her time to get ready and try to be ready on time. Bill should understand if she's a bit late/slow, but bill's girlfriend should also be more considerate of bills time. Bill apparently never has those moments when he has those 5 seconds to read the message in case it's something urgent without also having those 2 minutes to reply to the said message. For instance: someone texts me "lol check out this pic of my dog's wiener" won't get me to insta-reply to it like it's an interview. But if someone texts me "your mom's sick. Call me when you can" you can be damn sure I'll make time to have that phone call right there and then.

Bill's girlfriend has a job and buys her own chocolate because she's her own person and can buy the things she wants like everyone else. When bill gives her chocolate she is pleasantly surprised because she does not expect bill to buy her things to earn her affection. Bill's girlfriend is not materialistic with expectations that she be pampered. She realizes her love should be earned by how bill treats her, not by what he buys her. Bill does not automatically assume there is something racist going on. Bill waits to get the whole context to judge objectively what the actual problem is instead of blindly jumping to the conclusion of bigotry.
