Zendaya Keeps The Sheer Dress Trend Alive With Steamy Look Amid Movie Promo
On April 2, Zendaya showed up at the New York premiere afterparty of her upcoming movie The Drama, co-starring Robert Pattinson, in a sheer blue gown.
Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, The Drama is a romantic-dark comedy film in which Zendaya and Pattinson’s characters, Emma Harwood and Charlie Thompson, meet, fall in love, and get engaged before things take an uglier turn.
- Zendaya revealed the “something blue” dresses in New York as part of her wedding-themed series of looks for 'The Drama' press tour.
- One of the dresses was taken from Cate Blanchett, which Zendaya wore as her “something borrowed.”
- The 'Challengers' actress remained tight-lipped about her real-life wedding, but addressed the fake photos that spread online.
The blue dress was a continuation of her ongoing wedding-themed press tour for the movie, set for worldwide release on April 3, 2026.
“Zendaya doesn’t follow fashion trends, she sets them…every single time,” one user wrote.

As a tribute to the plot of The Drama, Zendaya and her longtime stylist Law Roach decided to base her looks on the age-old saying: “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
The proverb has likely originated in Lancashire, England, during the Victorian era, according to Vogue. People believed that wearing these items would ward off any “evil” and bless the marriage with prosperity.

Many still follow this rule on their wedding day, mostly for fun and for the sake of tradition.

It was Di Petsa’s Fall 2026 backless gown with a flowing skirt and a sheer bodice, and wavy tassels covering her chest. She paired the dress with matching pointed pump heels, diamond and sapphire earrings, and a statement ring on her left hand.
She also sported the simple gold band that she has been wearing the entire tour — the one that further fueled the rumors that she had privately tied the knot with fiancé Tom Holland.

Earlier that evening, the Dune actress wore her first “something blue” — an electric blue and black feathered gown by Schiaparelli Haute Couture — on the red carpet for the New York premiere.
The dress allegedly featured 65,000 raw silk feathers in 27 shades, all blue and black. She accessorized the look with cocktail rings and drop earrings from Tiffany & Co., and a pair of bird-inspired pointed pumps with feathered faces and beaks.

For the first premiere of The Drama, which took place in Los Angeles on March 17, Zendaya repeated an outfit she wore 11 years earlier.
The Euphoria star appeared in the silky white, off-shoulder Vivienne Westwood gown she had worn to the 2015 Oscars.
“This is my something old!” Zendaya told Variety about the look. “I thought I’d bring it back and give it a new life. It meant so much to me, this dress.”

She revealed in an interview with British Vogue that she “snuck into” the 2015 Oscars red carpet because she didn’t have any credentials: “I had been up all night getting my hair done, we have this amazing Vivienne Westwood dress, I’m getting on that red carpet. So, I kind of shimmied there, even though I wasn’t really supposed to.”

On March 24, she stepped out in a bridal-white Louis Vuitton gown with full sleeves, a plunging back, and a large black bow at the waist, trailing.
This dress was her “something new,” as Roach confirmed in an Instagram story.
For her “something borrowed,” Zendaya reached out to Cate Blanchett.

On March 26, for the Rome premiere of The Drama, Zendaya wore a black Giorgio Armani Privé gown with a plunging neckline of onyx stones that was originally worn by Blanchett.
The two-time Academy Award-winning actress wore the dress for the 2022 SAG Awards, the Venice premiere of La Grazia, and the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

“I thought it was such a kind thing to share,” Zendaya said about Blanchett on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I was very paranoid about spilling or breaking it.”
Zendaya added that she had her eyes on the dress from Blanchett’s previous appearances and had even texted Roach about it.

While Zendaya has been flaunting wedding-themed looks on the press tour, her real-life marital status has remained a mystery.
Zendaya was first linked with Tom Holland in 2017 while promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The rumor was further fueled by fans of Spider-Man movies, who compared the couple to Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, the previous actors who portrayed Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in previous movies, who also dated each other briefly.

Tom Holland and Zendaya were reported to be engaged in January 2025, with news breaking shortly after the 2025 Golden Globes where Zendaya was seen wearing a solitaire on her ring finger.
Roach, who is also Zendaya’s close friend, said on the red carpet at the 2026 Actor Awards on March 1 that the two have already exchanged vows.
“The wedding has already happened,” Roach told Access Hollywood. “You missed it.”

Zendaya has not confirmed or denied the claim. However, she addressed the AI-generated fake photos of the alleged wedding circulating online on Good Morning America, calling them “scarily realistic.”
“AI is really getting advanced these days,” she said. “So, have an eye out, because [the photos] definitely tricked some family and friends of mine.”
“Her stylist is a genius.” Netizens reacted to Zendaya’s wedding-themed press tour wardrobe for The Drama
