It takes something pretty incredible to stand out from the constant flood of superhero movies bombarding our movie theaters these days, but it looks like Wonder Woman has very much managed to forge her own identity in a cinematic world dominated by men. The film took over $100 million on its opening weekend in the US alone, which, somewhat ironically, beat Fifty Shades Of Grey for the highest grossing movie ever directed by a woman, and as you can see from this series of uplifting tweets, the film hasn't just succeeded financially; it's also had quite an emotional impact on audiences as well. Scroll down to see what we mean, and then get out there and go see Wonder Woman!

Is her name seriously Emery Lord? That's amazing XD (and also dangerously close to emery board)
her name translates to ''Wave Riverbank'' in hebrew.

As a white man I can tell you we are not "obscenely confident all the time". We have fears and insecurities like everyone else.
There needs to be way more nudity in this movie. All these chicks and no hot boob shots or lesbian scenes? WTF? Wear your tits out ladies, So the rest of us can enjoy them (if you're hot. If you're a fatty then F**k off) That's what they're there for.
Princess Buttercup from The Princess Bride and Princess Leia from the original Star Wars, for those too young to remember ;)
I am not too young but I couldn't even tell that was Robin Wright ! Wow, she looks fierce there!
Load More Replies...HHHHHHHHHHHHHHOLY S**T ARE YOU TELLING ME THATS F*****G PRINCESS BUTTERCUP???? HOLY F**K
I just wish we were giving this much credit to the people who brought this character to the big screen. I know the actress is the face, but it took more than one person to make this possible.
This is in a positive way of course. I love the fact that the kid completely ignores genders and just focused on an awesome Super Heroine! :D
Load More Replies...Saw the movie...I get why this was such an important movie for women. I get it.Far as I'm concerned, one of the best superhero films I've ever seen, since Captain America... But this was different than any other I've seen, really. To all the women I've known, and the ones I don't...about time, you know?
Hell yeah, this superhero had heart and was not afraid of saying things like fighting for love. Breath of fresh air and true to the character
Load More Replies...It doesnt have much to do with this particular post, but is wonder woman a genuine hero of marvel or supposed to be marvels way of displaying womens equality?
It's DC, not Marvel. And she's a genuine hero. Interestingly, she was not really a gender equality symbol from the start, in the first comics. That developed later, with the fact that she's the most iconic and the oldest (if not first) of the major American super heroes out there.
Load More Replies...Pretty sure she meant play it to inspire delivering mums. What's with the unnecessary negativity? =/
Load More Replies...Speaking with BF after movie: HIM: "Of course WW wouldn't have crushed that person with the tank... she's all about Love. Heal through love. Power through love. Batman would have done it." ME: "Antiope would have done it" HIM: "Antiope would have turned her into paste.
Jeez I had no idea! I love princess Buttercup, she was great to begin with!
Yeah, chocolate is unnecessary as well, but I'm still going to enjoy it.
But still, you can get PLEASURE without them. That's what she meant.
Load More Replies...Maybe if a woman worthy of the Presidency had run...you know, without stealing the nomination from the guy that actually HAD a chance.
Maybe if Hillary had been as caring, passionate, and selfless as Wonder Woman. Instead, she acted more like Ares.
Now hopefully this will catch on to the rest of the movie industry, as well :)
after mad max, pacific rim, etc etc and now wonder woman, i sure as hell hope so, its time
Load More Replies...Good choice, but keep in mind that you will also need a sword at certain moments.
Not sure there's a good way to abbreviate that. WWDPD? WWDD? WWWWD? WWDPOTD?
Just make it WWDD. What would Diana do? Anyone asks which Diana, just tell them WW.
also female written! WW was written only by men, we could do better in that department (and speaking roles for woc)
What other hero veers from: 1) We must fight this war 2) Take me to the war 3) This injustice will not stand 4) BABY!!!
four female ghostbusters? The feminists are taking over! 🎶I'm an adult virgin🎶
Hey, if Bryce Dallas Howard can run from a T-Rex in heals, this should be a piece of cake.
I really love the fact that so many actresses and female famous people are supporting this movie and sending messages to patty jenkins, AND people that work at marvel are doing the same thing, chris evans, mark ruffalo, hemsworth, etc etc
Ironically, the thing I noticed about this is that DC needs to quit making everything so dark.
Lemme join the party of compliments to the film. I must say, I liked it too.
Me too me too. Been looking for a decent poster which captures the scene where she strides into No Man's Land like a boss but that scene is not in the official images released so will wait. ^_^
Load More Replies...If you want more Wonder Woman, ya'll should watch the original show with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman. It's AMAZING! Also, Lynda Carter is an activist in LGBTQ+ rights and women's rights STILL in her mid 60's. I find so AWESOME that she is hyper-feminist on and off screen. Just a little random fact... It would be great if she could appear as a cameo in the next Wonder Woman related film.
Load More Replies...Hawkgirl, Hawkgirl HAWKGIRL! And how did the world forget about Ellen Ripley?
Because Ripley is a category all by herself.
Load More Replies...I respect DC for waiting to release this movie of Wonder Woman. I'm glad it gets the attention of so many women (and men). But now I just hope they will plan to make way more films of Super Heroines (like Zatanna, Starfire, Powergirl, etc) and not go straight back to full male leads for the upcoming years. Nonetheless, this film can be the start of a great moment for women in cinema.
...And I want Marvel to make a Squirrel Girl movie.
Load More Replies...Why are people acting like women are always pushed down then suddenly a woman superhero appears and everyone is all hallelujah, b***h she ain't the first nor will be the last female badass
MAHALO!!! I love Wonder Woman, until the "boy part" as one girl-child said.
The first time my four year old laid eyes on wonder woman was in the batman vs. superman. She has been obsessed with the "Woman that fights alone" ever since! She gets to see it tonight and is so excited.
great movie, its my favourite, absolute favourite followed by Blade from years ago. headbutting a tank into a wall was just badass and it a thinking heart to it
Is it really good? Because I honestly hated the original show and even back then found it terribly sexist with those stupid pants and boots. Though Princess Buttercup kicking a** is certainly enticing ;-)
