30 Women Who Dared To Get Their Hair Cut Short And Got Awesome Results Thanks To This Hairstylist (New Pics)
If you are looking for a change after the interesting year that was 2021, why not use this time wisely to plan your next short haircut? Over the past decade or so, short hairstyles have stunned the world of media, and these days more and more women prove that gone are the days when women were expected to keep long, luscious hair just to avoid stereotypes.
In the last few years, women, regardless of their age, have been ditching their long hairstyles in exchange for a fresh short haircut. And gorgeous female celebrities such as Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, and even Tyra Banks have only added to the trend with their short new 'dos, as they tend to make powerful statements, showing that you don’t need long hair to feel feminine and beautiful.
Russian hairstylist Kristina Katsabina helps her clients feel empowered and confident as she proves that one can still look beautiful regardless of their hair length.

In an older interview with Bored Panda, Kristina told us a little bit about the whole trend behind the short haircuts and gave us insights on her clients.
"A lot of women in their 30s are either working in a field they do not like or they have lost all of their inspiration to keep moving forward. It happened to me too; at some point, I lost all of my motivation to keep moving forward and deepen my knowledge when it came to my profession at the time. Before becoming a full-time hairstylist, I was teaching Spanish and also worked as a translator and choreographer."

Kristina also had an influx of clients who wanted a "Bixie" haircut. "Bixie" is a short haircut that is often described as a hybrid between the bob, mullet, and a pixie. This reminds me of a swimsuit ad I saw. In each of the before and after shots of the various models in various swimsuits, the model wearing the manufacturer's swimsuit was smiling, and not smiling in the other.

I will not soon forget the day I had this much hair cut off. When I walked out of the salon, I looked both ways before crossing the street. I turned my head with the same amount of force that I always had. Except this time I wasn't swinging a pony tail over my shoulder. *crAck* That felt really good! So I tossed my phantom hair over my other shoulder... *crAck*... again. My neck had not felt that good in a long time.

I completely agree. The first pictures usually show some hair that were lacking styling or were not taken care of. It's clear they looked better after fresh wash, cut and some styling.

Also keep in mind that if the before pictures were salon styled and not just the average look of day 4 after wash day, a lot of people might have preferred the long instead of the short hair

Not entirely sure why women have to "dare" to cut their hair off. Plenty of women have short hair by choice. It's not exactly daring. Some of these new styles are lovely, and some look rank.

Short hair is very becoming for some women, for others not so much, and for some it doesn't matter either way. My SO went from long straight hair when we met, to permed hair after some years, to much shorter hair after many more years, back to longer straight hair now because she got tired of having to deal with maintaining a short hair cut. Personally, I prefer the short hair cut, but I've always told her it's what matters to her. Did finally manage to convince her to stop coloring her hair... something she's almost always done. Her natural color is a very, very dark brown, but she colored it mostly various shades of brown, and blond for a while. Now it's white... and beautiful.

Its so weird how we get convinced that our natural hair is ugly or blah when all we've seen is the roots for ages. I grew my hair out in the last few years, and omg is it pretty. As the hair ages and gets sun damaged it changes color and the result is really nice. Something the 1/2" at roots could never tell you.

As someone with short hair, short hair can be a lot of fun if you like experimenting with punky and edgier looks, however, it can also be a bit of a pain to maintain. Shorter hair can entail lots of styling and frequent trips to the salon to maintain. Once I cut my long hair off it started to grow like mad. However, if you are up for the "maintenance" challenge it's totally worth it! ^_^

I am a huge fan of short hair. My hair was past my waist until I was 23 and then I made the drastic change and cut it to about 4 inches all over and donated it to Locks Of Love. I have had various pixie cuts since.

Some short haircuts which can look very androgynous, even sexless, on some women emphasize on other women their natural, feminine faces, especially if they're young. (See for instance, Courtney C*x in Bruce Springsteen's video, mid-80s Pat Benetar, Natalie Portman, Emma Watson). But in most of these cases unless they were going for androgynous, they just don't work well. That's not saying that they aren't pretty, just that the hairdo isn't doing them any favors. In several, I would think simply tying the hair back would be simpler than the styling work it'll take to make the hair "fall" just right, the way the stylist worked it.

I miss my super short hair. It grew out over various Covid lockdowns and is still fairly short (a neat bob) but I really loved the much shorter spikey pixie cut I had before. As a few have mentioned here - you need regular cuts (although I could get a cheap barbers cut rather than paying three times the amount for a ladies hairdresser). As for those commenting on the gender implications of shorter hair "it looks more manly" seems a common theme. It only looks "Manly" if you subscribe to the idea that genders should be clearly defined and women must have long hair,men short

All of the people being negative in these comments isn't what this post is for, this post was to highlight the changes they got thanks to this stylist. It doesn't matter if the long hair had been styled and washed, most women in general don't go and get their hair salon-styled daily and the before pics were close to what they'd looked like daily. The post just points out that these women got their hair cut short and the only place they asked for your opinion is when they asked you to be respectful and mindful. Saying the cuts look awful is not what most would consider mindful or respectful, considering the time the stylist spent making these women feel better about themselves.

When I was 18, I decided to cut my hair and donate it. At the time, it was almost to my waist. I cut it "boy short" on the sides and back, slightly longer on top.I loved it but my dad didn't talk to me for days! LOL! Since my hair has never really recovered from chemo, I'm thinking about doing it again.

I think the shorter cuts make most of these women look younger & more vibrant. Granted, grown out roots & just crappy hair care make the before pictures even worse, but on the whole I like the shorter cuts better.

Many of the cuts feature fringes or other hair that falls over their eyes. The models will be spending a lot of time trying to see without the pain of hair in their eyes. Not for me, no matter how good they look.

The short cuts are great, but a lot of work and expensive upkeep... only a couple of these look "wash and wear" and even they require very regular trips to the salon for trims. I have long hair that I used to donate regularly to Locks of Love (although they aren't currently taking donations) so I will need to chop off a lot of it, but I think I am too fat to rock a pixie, and I definitely don't want high maintenance hair. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like there was some work done on these photos... the eyes. Even the brown eyes look more orange than any brown eyed people I know. It could be that everyone that comes into this particular salon has really outstanding eye color, but when I think about how many of my friends have eyes like this, I can think of two out of about 30.
