Don’t tell me it’s not fun to get your soda served in a soup container or a hazelnut latte served in a… can of Nutella? Okay, just kidding. This sounds like sheer torture, and who even does this? I mean, big round of applause for business owners who take their creativity to a whole new level, but there should be boundaries of common sense and functionality.
Well, if you've ever had your drink served in a ludicrous container and dreamed of having a good old cup instead, this online community is for you. The “We Want Cups” subreddit is a safe place to share our frustration by showcasing drinks that should have (but unfortunately, haven’t) been served in cups.
And oh boy, the whole collection is some painfully funny entertainment that will make you reevaluate your boring ceramic morning cuppa with a stupid scribble on it, because as you see, it always can get much worse.

Cocktail In A Bag. The Color Didn’t Help
This happened when I bought a coca cola in Vietnam. They poured it in a bag and gave me a straw. I would rather have paid for the bottle..
Jello Shots Being Served Out Of Hard-Boiled Eggs
Might have been clever if the egg whites were also Jelly shots, maybe Malibu flavour and the yolk was pineapple flavoured and yellow.
Portobello Mushroom Latte, Me
I love mushrooms and I love coffee... but what kind of demon sent from Satan's right hand would combine the two?
Not even Satan would send forth something this evil...
Load More Replies...Serve mushroom or French Onion soup this way and you'll really have something.
Across America and Europe, bars and restaurants are following a relatively new trend of serving beverages in very creative containers. Many business owners believe that these creative and kooky vessels not only make the drinks more fun to sip, but bring that wow factor that sets them apart from their nextdoor competitors.
But no matter the presentation of your beloved iced tea, at the end of the day, it’s the inside that counts. Especially when Americans have very specific preferences about their beverages, with some of us avoiding bottled water at all costs, and others opting for convenience.
I Love It When My Drink Is In A Baby Doll Head
Reminds me of the "chilled monkey brains" in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Always freaked me out as a kid
I posted the same thing before realizing you beat me to it lol!

This Cocktail Comes In An Ash Tray With A "Chocolate Cigar" Straw...
The chocolate straw will break, and then you'll have to sip out of a container that will dribble liquid down your shirt, no matter how you tip it.
A Cocktail In Two Parts. Equally Stupid
What the actual hell. This would pair nicely with the spaghetti served in a dresser that I saw on an old post 😃
If it's something you'd personally find difficult to wash, the restaurant kitchen probably has difficulty properly cleaning/sanitizing it too... These "cute" things are often selected by owners/management, and they don't always think about things from the dishwasher's perspective.
Ooh I have the same little set of drawers at home. I DO NOT use it to serve drinks!
Recently, a survey from Statista found what beverages people in the US consume the most, and on which ones they give a hard pass. The most commonly consumed beverage is bottled water, which makes up 24.8%. Turn out, the average American consumer drank roughly 40 gallons of bottled water in 2018 alone, so you can imagine the number soared during the pandemic when everyone stayed at home.
The second most consumed beverage is carbonated soda drinks, which make up 21.9% of the consumed beverages. The third most popular drink in America is coffee, with 12.6% consumption share.

A Cup Of Milk
So glad I live in a normal part of the world where this sorta thing never happens.
OMG NOOOO!!! THE MILK WILL CURDLE!!! WHO'S IDEA WAS THIS???
Well, we can’t knock it until we’ve tried it, right? At least it’s safe to consume & bell peppers aren’t exactly what you’d call “spicy”, so it’s hardly gonna taint the milk. Stick it in a blender with some celery, cucumber & tomatoes; you’ll get a nice veggie smoothie! 🤷♀️😄🍅
I once had a fight with my roommates about who's turn it was to do the dishes. Might have done that on day 285.
Hot Coffee... Too Hot To Hold The Bowl. We Want Cups!! (Or At Least A Friggin Handle)
In France, drinking coffee from a bowl was the common way for breakfast when I was a child (40 years ago)
Yes, French person here, this is pretty common. A lot of old people don't even own mugs. You have either a bowl, for breakfast, or a tiny cup for any other time of the day you might drink coffee.
Load More Replies...Don't drink excessively hot liquids if you don't want to get esophageal cancer. If the bowl is too hot to hold, the coffee is too hot to drink.
Thats only acceptable at home, when you run out if clean cuos at home and you can't be bothered to wash up. Teatowel for wrapping bowl required.
I was going to say the same. It's perfect to drunk you bread in. Baguette + salted butter + camembert. All dunked in you coffee... *chef kiss*
On the other end of the scale, we have energy drinks, value added water and spirits that are the least favorite beverages among Americans. Although when it comes to spirits, the pandemic has clearly put them back in the spotlight with home cocktail culture soaring. According to the research firm Nielsen, sales of spirits at the end of March climbed 75% compared to the same period last year.
Here's One You Can't Even Set Down
A yard of ale (Meter actually) here is a one meter long row of pints. Usually on a wooden tray.
Load More Replies...Most pubs, or at least the rural ones, have a yard glass above the bar in the UK. Usually has a bulb end so it can’t be set down. The whole point is to down in one. Someone’s seen it and yes it looks like a baseball bat so probably a good seller...
Ha! We have those at our local ball park. Looks way too awkward to be good. Though I do have to admit the local craft beer they serve in it is pretty good ( Isotopes Slammin' Amber)
Hot Chocolate In A Waffle Cone
I might be alone in thinking this one is actually a nice idea. I'd certainly like to try it.
I tried this one, no it doesn’t soften the cone, just melts the chocolate a little bit which makes it more enjoyable when you finish drinking and eat the cone
Oh if it doesn't melt it then it's great!!! Would be great with cold chocolate too!
Load More Replies...Ok you know what? I think this one might be kinda awesome, assuming you can drink it before it's pouring out of the bottom.
I want this. It's not that bad at all! Put some chocolate ice cream over it and you've got yourself an ice-coffee-cream

Hate to break it to you, that's not an IV bag. That is a bag for breastmilk.
Ye gods, the last time I saw a syringe that big it was for deworming horses.

Thought They’d Run Out Of Cups... Nope, This Is The Drinking Glass
At least this one’s easy to clean. All the other ‘cups’ are hygienic disasters to me.. 🤢
Some bars get their glassware for free from liquor distributors. I asked for a to-go cup for my rootbeer when I had to leave in a hurry and the waitress told me to just take the glass, the distributor keeps bringing more.

Those baubles are super fragile! Say hello to glas shards in your lips if you make one hasty movement
at least it comes in a glass still, technically. I'm assuming you screw off the top of the ornament and pour it into the glass, I think it's a cool idea for christmas cocktails, just adds something a bit fun but isn't an absolute nightmare.

Have you ever operated a commercial dishwasher? They can sanitize pretty much anything, and do it darn fast. Is this some kind of eco thing? Like the pepper doesn't flavour the drink and you can compost it later?
So wasteful. No one's going to want to eat the pepper that's been standing on the counter, so food that has been grown, harvested, transported, stored etc etc is just going to be thrown out. Glasses are washed and reused, sometimes for years.
I think I'd like the smell of that first sip, steaming pepper and steeped tea?

Rose Latte At A Toilet-Themed Cafe In Seoul
That one's on the author - you go to a toilet-themed cafe, you expect a toilet-shaped cup. The theme is weird, but the execution - on point.
I myself thought this was quite common. In SK toilet talk is perfectly fine so if you go to a toilet themed restaurant you can totally expect a toilet shaped cup or some toilet shaped bowls.
I had to google what a "toilet-themed cafe" looks like. It's, uhm....interesting :D
