Whether we're talking about the subreddit Crappy Design or the Instagram account Ugly Irish Houses, the Internet seems obsessed with tasteless crimes against aesthetics and functionality. If you are too, the Twitter account "Cursed Architecture" is right up your alley.

Its hellish content includes strange angles, melting paint, vaguely threatening toilets, stairs that lead to nowhere, and more. Basically, the kind of stuff that architects and interior designers would imagine in a horror-comedy. But believe me, you don't have to be an industry pro to appreciate these pictures. They're so bad, us regular folk will get them as well. Enjoy!

Oh, boy. I'd hate to see the look on a burglar's face when he drops his lock pick!

it took me a while to see the grate. I was looking at the lock, at the door k**b, and at the door jamb. !!! yikes. that is not good.

I dropped my keys down an elevator shaft once at university - in that space where the door slides. Chaos.

I dropped my keys in one like this once. As if that weren't insult enough, my keys somehow got tangled up and locked onto the grate. It felt personal.

At work the toilet roll holder opens with a key, that has to stay in the lock when you fill it. Fine. Except it dangles precariously over the toilet bowl the whole time just threatening to fall in.

Have to park almost in the street to keep tailgate from opening over a huge grate. Way too fumblefingered to take that chance!

And they all thought I was an oddball for keeping my keys on a keyring made out of a tanned crocodile tail segment as long as my forearm. Well who's laughing now, beeyatch?! (Actually I got the idea from those cafes and such where the toilet key is on a comically huge keyring so nobody can sneak it into their pocket and it's almost impossible to lose).

There is something similar (but way larger) at the entrance of my workplace.

Check the door down the hall for a nice stab in the back.

Was this meant to be a suicide door, or was there supposed to be a porch?

How is this so far up? It's neither architecture nor cursed, but just a bad photoshop.

Wow. You expect that when you take out semi-fixed pieces of furniture. Not rugs!

Presumably, building regulation in some of these places is what I believe is called 'light touch'

You know how annoying it is when people can see your legs under the stall panels? Well, consider yourself lucky : in there ones, they can see your butt, your balls, and the falling turd.

The Hustler Casino in California had recently opened, and I drove by it to and from work. One night, the big CASINO sign was malfunctioning, two letters kept flashing off and on. So the sign was announcing to the world "CASINO... ASIN ...CASINO... ASIN ...". I called them to let them know and they thought it was a prank until they went outside and looked at it. The next night, it was fixed.

It's from my hometown in France ! Actually the municipality decided to build a new bridge to accommodate the tram. But the inhabitants loved the old bridge so much that they decided to keep the stairs as a souvenir...

Carpeted bathrooms and toilets used to be the norm in the UK, ours was when we moved to this house 30 years ago. Glad that we have got over that phase.
