Captioned "let’s shame those weddings," the subreddit r/weddingshaming is the online home for roasting wedding themes, brides, grooms, wedding parties, in-laws, outlaws, guests, Uncle Bob, vendors, and more. “You name it, we shame it!” states the community’s description.
Created in 2018, the controversial subreddit now has 151k members who love digging through anything wedding-related. So let’s take a look at what they dug up and shamed down below.

The world of wedding shaming offers real-life drama combined with sassiness and a fair share of roasting, all in the comfort of a virtual environment. Groups like the “That’s it, I’m wedding shaming” Facebook group, which has 80.6k members, and the r/weddingshaming subreddit with 153k members have become somewhat of a phenomenon in the past 2 years. It turns out there’s something universally irresistible about ripping apart someone’s supposed best day of their lives.
Luna, the moderator from Australia at “That’s it, I’m wedding shaming,” told Wired that “There’s something about weddings, whether you’re invited or not, that just brings out the worst in people.” She suggested that this is precisely what gives the group a feel similar to reality TV shows.
This online shaming trend became a hit back in August 2018 when a post from a group shamed a bride for asking her guests to pay about $1,500 towards her wedding. The story went viral after it was shared by model and social media star Chrissy Teigen.

But many people are not so positive about this new trend, claiming that “beneath those silly nuptial stories lies an online playground of hate.”
Bored Panda reached out to Darlene Lancer, clinical psychologist and the author of “Codependency for Dummies” and “Conquering Shame and Codependency.” Darlene said that wedding haters and shamers are not members of a “hate group,” according to the FBI.
She explained: “hate groups” direct their hatred against a particular race, religion, gender, ethnic group, or people of a particular sexual orientation. The FBI investigates these hate groups to protect democracy and individual liberty.” In that sense, wedding shamers are not one of them.

I read about people who just moved their weddings to their backyards and such when the venues cancelled on them. Folks still got COVID. Just not worth it, people.
This remind me of somethings in my county. Some people had a party during Covid (like that is a good idea) with like 100 people. And someone went to the party knowing that they had Covid. That person spread it to like 100 people, and caused the cases to surge.

It was a really bad decision, but I also understand that young people can spend a year or more and a lot of money to make one day happen, and they would lose all the money, the staff, the venue and everything else if they canceled, and wouldn't just be able to redo the day later. Moral of the story is: weddings really shouldn't be such big deals IMHO.

Here in Australia, that's exactly how we got our first super spreader. It was in the beginning months of the pandemic & just 1 person who tested positive knowingly went to a wedding of less than 100 people. In the end, I believe around 60 people ended up getting Covid & several died. And of course, those 60 people unknowingly passed it on to others. It was the perfect example of how a virus can spread so quickly. Soon after, our PM put rules into effect & you could have no more than 5 people at a wedding, including the celebrant, & social distancing applied. It's only recently that those rules have been relaxed in some states (not Victoria thank god!!) & you can have 50 people ar a wedding provided you have enough space in the venue. Each person should have a 2² metre bubble of space to comply with these this. And we are allowed to dance at weddings! I just can't believe that anyone would have a huge wedding in the middle of a pandemic! So irresponsible!

This is posted by the person who runs the venue. A person who decided to host a 150 person event in the middle of a pandemic. With 150 people there are good chances that at least one attendee is an asymptomatic or presymptomatic carrier. The original poster is just as much to blame as the wedding party.

My daughter had half the invitations written and mailed for the May 15 wedding, & less than a week later she had to send regrets to those people. She has 6 living siblings, & the groom has 3. Then we were hit with the 10 person rule (the 4 Catholic bishops in Iowa agreed so this was statewide), including the priest, photographer, organist, readers, ring bearer, flower girl, etc. You can see where this is going, can't you? Anyway, canceled our venue etc, getting the money back. It was easy to get our refunds, as the governor shut the state down--everything. The bridesmaids returned their dresses; they were not custom made. And the bride & groom, not wanting to decide which of their sisters & brothers had to not be there decided none were going. The groom's mom & stood up for them. We had the priest, organist, photographer, bride & groom, & the witnesses, for a total of 7. Told guests the reception will be NEXT May 15th, and to save the date!

Now, Sarah has been through her fair share of grief, one instance being that her niece (katie), who she was REALLY close with, had died of cancer earlier that year. To make matters worse, Sarah is a nurse and had been caring for Jane during most of the time Jane was in the hospital. But during Jane's funeral, the song "Ave Maria" played, so Sarah obviously has some bad memories and emotions attached to the song. Now, you must know that the mother of the groom-to-be (MIL for short) is VERY controlling and traditional. So she insisted that "Ave Maria" needs to be played as the bride is walking down the aisle. Sarah was very stern and chose a different song to be played (as she should, because it's her wedding, not MILs). Well MIL literally went out of her way and told the organist to play Ave Maria. The organist obviously refused, so MIL BRIBED THE ORGANIST with hundreds of $...
Easy way to make this appropriate is to have another funeral for MIL after the wedding
