It's virtue-signalling pure and simple. If you believe their sign then their intentions are this; 1) Force a teenager (or a rape victim) to carry a baby for nine months against her will. 2) Force a teenager (or rape victim) to give birth to the child against her will. 3) Surrender her baby to them. The worst part is that they are proposing all this with a smug, self-righteous smile plastered across their faces.
If you’re not familiar with the Roe v. Wade case, let us catch you up to speed. It started in 1969 when a 25-year-old single woman, Norma McCorvey, using the pseudonym "Jane Roe" challenged the criminal abortion laws in Texas. Then, terminating the pregnancy was illegal in the state, except in situations where the mother’s life was in danger. Henry Wade, the district attorney for Dallas County, defended the anti-abortion law. Thus, Roe v. Wade.

Roe was pregnant with her third child when she filed the case but was forced to give birth. In 1973, her appeal made it to the US Supreme Court. Her case was heard alongside that of a 20-year-old Georgia woman, Sandra Bensing, where they both argued that abortion laws in their states contradicted the US Constitution — they infringed on a woman's right to privacy. By a vote of seven to two, the court ruled that governments could not prohibit abortions and that a woman’s right to end a pregnancy is protected by the constitution.
This case led to the creation of the "trimester" system that allows the right to an abortion in the first three months of the pregnancy, some government regulation in the next three, and puts a ban on terminating the pregnancy in the final trimester (except cases where doctors certify that the fetus is putting the woman’s life in danger).

I get the idea of what they are trying to say in this tweet, but it doesn't sit right with me. Those "424,000" children in foster care are actual human beings who deserve more consideration than being used for snark value or a flippantly offered solution that is meant to shame the weirdos with the creepy "we'll adopt your baby" signs. I'm not sure if I'm expressing my thoughts very clear. I know what I mean but putting it in words isn't always my strong suit
Since it’s up to states to decide whether abortion will remain legal or not, some of them have already decided to do away with it — abortion is now banned in at least seven states. According to The New York Times, "About half of states are expected to allow bans or other limits on the procedure to take effect. In several states, the status of abortion isn’t settled: Courts must determine the fate of existing restrictions, or lawmakers are expected to propose new laws to restrict abortion access. In others, abortion rights are protected by state law, and legislators may move to expand access." And as if pregnancy and giving birth itself was a walk in the park and not something that WILL seriously affect your body long-term and might even kill you (mortality of pregnant women is much higher than average).
It's like people have forgotten the money the church made from taking newborns off mothers, telling them they'd died or would be an unfit mother while selling them into lives of slavery and abuse (Oranges and Sunshine is just one account). History teaches us that the church shouldn't be involved in any aspect of a woman's life...

The "solution" they propose to a problem and the very valid, very real concerns that millions of Americans face now is ignorant. As so many experts and people with experience in these circumstances have pointed out, adoption is not the opposite of (or a solution for) abortion. However, the idea that adoption is a magical cure for unplanned pregnancy and a substitute for abortion is far from new, and anti-abortion activists have been making this argument for decades. But it’s completely wrong.
Ugh every time I see this couple, all I can think is their muzzle control is pathetically bad. I don't own any guns but I grew up with guns and I learned proper handling. These two are one balloon pop from killing someone. Only EVER point a gun at something you WANT to SHOOT. Otherwise MUZZLE DOWN.

So it’s extremely unsettling to see these couples holding up the signs and looking to fill their homes with babies from forced births. Especially when you count on the fact that on any given day, there are nearly 424,000 children in foster care in the United States. Why don’t these kids get the attention of the evangelical couples who are seemingly very keen to adopt them? No wonder their blatant statement is causing a stir online, with thousands of people sharing their opinions and expressing anger, and for good reason.

When I had my oldest daughter 28 years ago, almost 29 years ago, it was over $5000. I can't even begin to imagine how much it is now. Are they willing to pay that hospital expense?

And it doesn't stop there. I just had a doctor visit for a medical problem I acquired while pregnant. My pregnancy was 6 years ago. It apparently caused permanent damage. Will they be paying for stuff like that too?

Abortion has far fewer complications than pregnancy and childbirth.
I know a Christian couple (no idea where they stand on abortion, this is the UK, but I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly didn't agree with it) and they did adopt two children from the system. They have had their ups and downs with medical needs and behavioural issues over the years, but they have loved and cherished those kids. One is now adult and out in the world, and one is getting there. I am not a Christian, but that is the sort of Christianity that shows the religion in a good light. Not preaching to others but living their beliefs day in, day out. They did not "have" to wait until a newborn 'clean slate' came along to act on their beliefs.

Wearing a mask to the shops will destroy the freedom of the people whom fascists deem “worthy”. Forcing people who have babymaking parts to give birth to babies will 1) remind women to Know Their Place and 2) make white women have more babies so that there’s less chance of white people being outnumbered by people of colour. As for babies of colour, in the pre-Roe days people of colour were often forcibly sterilised - the 21st century Republicans haven’t gone that far yet but they’ve already been so extreme that a lot of Americans are worried about what they’ll do next.

Oh, I’ve spent enough time around very knowledgeable Americans online that I now know a lot about why that is. You see, it’s not really about the sanctity of life. They want people to THINK it is, because that’s how they sucker people into believing in their worldview, but it’s not. They think women who have sex are immoral and that having a baby is a punishment for that sin. They also get really afraid of what will happen if the population of people of colour overtakes that of white people, so forcing white women to have babies prevents that from happening. Pre-Roe, they combined that with forcibly or stealthily sterilising people of colour, and while they haven’t brought that back YET, they’ve been so aggressively fascist that the knowledgeable Americans I know are worried about what they’ll do next.

I don't know how it works where you are but fostering could be an option if you don't want to give birth? I understand why it's expensive and hard to adopt a child as you really have to guarantee in the best way possible that you can provide and take responsibility for them. Just like some give away kittens for free but the serious ones charge you a great deal and get to know you before so you can show that you are serious about it and ready for the responsibility. I would assume it's the same logic behind it and I would say that's fair (even though many biological parents wouldn't pass those check ups regarding income and housing and still manage to raise their kids in a proper way).
The couple is Sebastian Schuff and Neydy Casillas, who are not US citizens (so can't adopt). Both lawyers who have dedicated much of their careers to conservative Christian legal fights. Schuff's the president of a group called the Global Center for Human Rights. His work bio indicates that much of his career has been spent in service of human rights related to “life, religious freedom, and family rights.” Casillas, who is also associated with Schuff’s organization, is the tied to a powerful anti-LGBTQ law firm and currently works for an organization called Concerned Women for America, an evangelical advocacy group that was founded in the late 1970s in opposition to the feminist movement and Betty Friedan’s National Organization for Women. The group advocated against the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1980s and has since fought against abortion, gay marriage, secular education, and other issues important to the Christian right... So basically, both pieces of scum taking advantage of others misfortune to push their own agenda.

Adoption is not an alternative to abortion. It just isn't. Abortion means not having to be pregnant whilst adopting means not having to parent. Two completely different things and NOT at all an alternative to each other
I've said it before, I'll say it again... The VAST majority of Pro-Lifers care about random woman's pregnancy only as long as it lasts. They don't care about how the Life of the affected woman could be harmed, and once the baby is born, don't want anything to do with the child... There are those that do care for both the mother and the child (pre- and post-partum)...but they are the exceptions that prove the rule!

Will they pay for missed work from morning sickness or other issues? Will they pay for exams and checkups? Will they pay for clothing as you enlarge? Will they pay the hospital bills, lamaz (sp) classes? Will they? No. Get a foster certificate and help kids in need. How many babies do they want? If you have twins it's not like puppies you don't take one. You take both. It's my body. I should be able to decide what goes in and comes out of it. Earrings. Tattoos. Body mods. Contacts. LASIK. Dental work. Etc. my body is my only Thing I have. I do the upkeep and maintenance. No one else. Ladies if the USA band this it's gonna be back alleys and going to Mexico or Canada. Or overseas. ok please don't hate on me im just a teenager but I wanted to say they just want to give hope to people in distress and I help with programs that offer different options to distressed mothers. not everyone is willing to adopt but we want to offer some help and I want to offer help also so if you want to talk or something you can reach me here I hold no judgment on anyone unless you did something bad but I love yall and hope this chaos can stop.

The signs are definitely creepy. However, I would like to note that the drive to adopt stems from the biological urge to procreate, not from a wish to be charitable and help children in need (that is just a bonus). It is natural to prefer as young a child as possible, as the first months and years of a child's life are critical for mental development and bonding. etc. When you adopt an older child you have no way of knowing what he/she has been exposed to and what challenges lie down the road for the child and yourself. No parent has a guarantee that everything is ok with their kids, but those who give birth to theirs are at least "in control" from day 1 if you understand me. Those older children are absolutely deserving of a loving family, but that does not mean that adoption is the best solution. Source: I adopted a 3 year old with several developmental issues, all of which appeared after adoption, and all of which could be linked to malnutrition in the womb or at an early age.
Also, at least in my country the queue for adoption is 3 years+ long. Adoption can be a very heavy process, as emotionally devastating as e.g. years of IVF (which many adoptive couples have already gone through). Some of these sign-holders might be ill-advised but still mean well. However, if they are trying to avoid red tape, save money or simply treat the birth mothers as surrogates, then may they suffer the torment of 1000 hells!!

This is their way they found to save lives and to build a better society... it may be ok it may not but at least they are taking a side.... When there is a problem with 2 opinions, and you decide not to be in one of the sides, you just become part of the problem, and when you just decide criticize instead to be in one of the sides, you are part of the problem... I volunteered in a foster care 2 times a week for the last 16 years, and I just change dippers to "The rights to do with your body" every week... Are you going to pay for meals, medical bills, school, rent, time after "doing with your body what you want?"

If you truly care about these kids, you should be calling for free healthcare, protections for working pregnant women, paid maternity leave and free childcare, not laws that force women to give birth to even more unwanted kids. There are thousands of women who actually want their baby but can't because of economical factors and therefore see no choice but to abort - provide proper economical and social support for them instead. I will forever not understand how you force women to birth an unwanted child, but not provide health care so the pregnancy can at least be a healthy one.. Or make se-x-Ed mandatory and preventative measures readily available at no costs. This only prevents safe abortions.
Oh, I’ve spent enough time around very knowledgeable Americans online that I now know a lot about why that is. You see, it’s not really about the sanctity of life. They want people to THINK it is, because that’s how they sucker people into believing in their worldview, but it’s not. They think women who have sex are immoral and that having a baby is a punishment for that sin. They also get really afraid of what will happen if the population of people of colour overtakes that of white people, so forcing white women to have babies prevents that from happening. Pre-Roe, they combined that with forcibly or stealthily sterilising people of colour, and while they haven’t brought that back YET, they’ve been so aggressively fascist that the knowledgeable Americans I know are worried about what they’ll do next.
As for the lack of public healthcare, rich right wingers are jaw-droppingly greedy turds so they tell themselves that poor people are poor because they’re lazy and so not being able to afford healthcare is a punishment for their “laziness”.
I'm almost inclined to say that anyone who is pro the abortion ban should be obligated to adopt a child who's already in the system.

I don't know how it works where you are but fostering could be an option if you don't want to give birth? I understand why it's expensive and hard to adopt a child as you really have to guarantee in the best way possible that you can provide and take responsibility for them. Just like some give away kittens for free but the serious ones charge you a great deal and get to know you before so you can show that you are serious about it and ready for the responsibility. I would assume it's the same logic behind it and I would say that's fair (even though many biological parents wouldn't pass those check ups regarding income and housing and still manage to raise their kids in a proper way).
The couple is Sebastian Schuff and Neydy Casillas, who are not US citizens (so can't adopt). Both lawyers who have dedicated much of their careers to conservative Christian legal fights. Schuff's the president of a group called the Global Center for Human Rights. His work bio indicates that much of his career has been spent in service of human rights related to “life, religious freedom, and family rights.” Casillas, who is also associated with Schuff’s organization, is the tied to a powerful anti-LGBTQ law firm and currently works for an organization called Concerned Women for America, an evangelical advocacy group that was founded in the late 1970s in opposition to the feminist movement and Betty Friedan’s National Organization for Women. The group advocated against the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1980s and has since fought against abortion, gay marriage, secular education, and other issues important to the Christian right... So basically, both pieces of scum taking advantage of others misfortune to push their own agenda.

Adoption is not an alternative to abortion. It just isn't. Abortion means not having to be pregnant whilst adopting means not having to parent. Two completely different things and NOT at all an alternative to each other
I've said it before, I'll say it again... The VAST majority of Pro-Lifers care about random woman's pregnancy only as long as it lasts. They don't care about how the Life of the affected woman could be harmed, and once the baby is born, don't want anything to do with the child... There are those that do care for both the mother and the child (pre- and post-partum)...but they are the exceptions that prove the rule!
Replying to Gooberpeas: they are not 'abortion pushers', they are providing for a safe termination of unwanted pregnancies for those who choose to terminate a process they do not wish to pursue to conclusion. Women who do not wish to give birth to a child that has been unintentionally and unwillingly conceived should not be forced to carry their pregnancy through, just because someone disagrees with their very personal decision not to give birth.

If it weren't so GD expensive to adopt, I would. I have two sons that are in college now, but my husband never had kids. Why is it so damn expensive??? We just want to help a kid and give them a family!!

Will they pay for missed work from morning sickness or other issues? Will they pay for exams and checkups? Will they pay for clothing as you enlarge? Will they pay the hospital bills, lamaz (sp) classes? Will they? No. Get a foster certificate and help kids in need. How many babies do they want? If you have twins it's not like puppies you don't take one. You take both. It's my body. I should be able to decide what goes in and comes out of it. Earrings. Tattoos. Body mods. Contacts. LASIK. Dental work. Etc. my body is my only Thing I have. I do the upkeep and maintenance. No one else. Ladies if the USA band this it's gonna be back alleys and going to Mexico or Canada. Or overseas. Government needs to concentrate on shootings and wars right now. Not this topic.

I would love to adopt or foster kids already in the system. I made mistakes in my life & have been clean for 15 yrs & have had the same job as well.,but the state still treats me like a criminal so I cant do anything. Sucks

I really hope people use this as a valid contract and they get an influx of people who want them to adopt their baby and the courts force them to adopt all of them.
ok please don't hate on me im just a teenager but I wanted to say they just want to give hope to people in distress and I help with programs that offer different options to distressed mothers. not everyone is willing to adopt but we want to offer some help and I want to offer help also so if you want to talk or something you can reach me here I hold no judgment on anyone unless you did something bad but I love yall and hope this chaos can stop.
They weren’t trying to help, or trying to adopt a child. Neither of them have, and the first couple can’t even adopt because they aren’t citizens. They are lying.

The signs are definitely creepy. However, I would like to note that the drive to adopt stems from the biological urge to procreate, not from a wish to be charitable and help children in need (that is just a bonus). It is natural to prefer as young a child as possible, as the first months and years of a child's life are critical for mental development and bonding. etc. When you adopt an older child you have no way of knowing what he/she has been exposed to and what challenges lie down the road for the child and yourself. No parent has a guarantee that everything is ok with their kids, but those who give birth to theirs are at least "in control" from day 1 if you understand me. Those older children are absolutely deserving of a loving family, but that does not mean that adoption is the best solution. Source: I adopted a 3 year old with several developmental issues, all of which appeared after adoption, and all of which could be linked to malnutrition in the womb or at an early age.
Also, at least in my country the queue for adoption is 3 years+ long. Adoption can be a very heavy process, as emotionally devastating as e.g. years of IVF (which many adoptive couples have already gone through). Some of these sign-holders might be ill-advised but still mean well. However, if they are trying to avoid red tape, save money or simply treat the birth mothers as surrogates, then may they suffer the torment of 1000 hells!!

Have you actually read any of the comments above?? These people are attorneys, one of them is against women's rights and gay rights, and no, they haven't adopted any children. You can easily find information about them online.

We have tons and tons of data proving that banning abortion in the US is a very bad idea. All the arguments “pro-lifers” have have already been analyzed and disproven. To much hate in this post!! Definitely now in this days people are looking for the bad thing to everything... especially when the people confuse freedom with debauchery... This is their way they found to save lives and to build a better society... it may be ok it may not but at least they are taking a side.... When there is a problem with 2 opinions, and you decide not to be in one of the sides, you just become part of the problem, and when you just decide criticize instead to be in one of the sides, you are part of the problem... I volunteered in a foster care 2 times a week for the last 16 years, and I just change dippers to "The rights to do with your body" every week... Are you going to pay for meals, medical bills, school, rent, time after "doing with your body what you want?"
And how is banning abortions going to prevent more kids going into fostercare? If you truly care about these kids, you should be calling for free healthcare, protections for working pregnant women, paid maternity leave and free childcare, not laws that force women to give birth to even more unwanted kids. Taking a side is nothing to be proud of, when your side is supporting violation of people's human rights.
Which lives do you mean to save? The lives of foetuses that literally do not exist yet and are therefore not alive, or the lives of hundreds of uterus hosts who will die? Banning abortion will kill, and will never save lives.
