The first people to wear costumes to a convention were science fiction fans, Forrest J. Ackerman and Myrtle R. Douglas: they attended the 1939 1st World Science Fiction Convention in New York dressed in futuristic costumes, including green cape and breeches. Fan costuming caught on since then and the 2nd Worldcon in 1940 had both an unofficial masquerade held in Douglas' room and an official masquerade as part of the program.

Cosplayers often learn how to do it all themselves or with friends. The costumes are expensive as heck even to make yourself (materials etc). Often they barely break even even if they make a career of it. Some do have professional shoots sometimes, but its often done by the cosplayer themselves or them and few savvy friends.

She looks cray- cray ( crazy ) but thats the look she was trying to imitate and she did it again! Just too 👍 good! She really needs to get an agent and get calls for any character in any & all 🎥 movies, television, etc. She needs to put her talent and looks to better use and better pay if she hasent been noticed before I'm sure she is now. They would be stupid to pass her ☝ up! Come on already, sign her on the dotted line.....

I do agree with @L McN, not even close! Not this time! Especially with that shiny make-up. Looks like she just had plastic surgery done to look more like a man changing over from a woman..... Not attractive nor is it remotely good. I'm kind of a little disappointed bevause I've given most of her other looks an A+ but we can't win em all. She's human so definately prone to make bad choices and this LOOK was a BAD CHOICE! Better Luck Next time.

Wow ... just wow. This is some amazing cosplay I have seen. What I loved about Alyson's cosplay is that unlike many other female cosplayers out there she is refraining from showing too much skin and sticking to the true image of the character. I am still in awe how much good work this is.

I would love to see a cosplayer go for Bowie's "Screaming Lord Byron" look from the Blue Jean video, with the frosted tips and the creative facial contouring. It was amazing to see that look back in the day. Nothing against Ziggy, but Bowie had other looks that were equally interesting.
