This 18-Year-Old Vegan Keeps Making His Followers’ Mouths Water With His Stunning Food Pics
When I was 16 years old, I used to play with my shoelaces. Jose (previously here and here), on the other hand, started spending his time creating colorful food arrangements. Now, two years later, they have earned him over 1.6 million Instagram followers, and the number doesn't seem to stop growing anytime soon. Each of his stunning culinary creations is made using only vegan ingredients, revealing the playful side of the seemingly strict diet.

With better cooking and food styling skills than most of people twice his age, Jose has developed a very wide range of vegan ideas to cater for all sweet teeth. The best part is that each photo he posts is accompanied by a list of ingredients, challenging his fans to recreate his recipes.

I just glanced at this and it reminded me off my sister. She loves dragons (she's 16) and Toothless is her favorite. I don't wanna mention how many times I've seen the movies. That's adorable! You're so talented!

Ok, I'm definitely not the master of Photoshop, but it's graphic - this white something (unbaked puff pastry? White chocolate? Ummm...?) should lay on strawberries not like a stiff piece of white cardboard. The dough would fall a little bit and hearts' shape would not be so perfect.

These look like works of art and extremely yummy even if they are totally not edible and made of colored clay. But what really bothers me, I can't find ingredients anywhere, if not recipes, at least main ingredients or something, or possibility to order treats or something, anything about ingredients. How do we know these are edible? I really find them extra tasty looking so I wonder, are they really?

I mean, his audience is vegan, it’s part of his social media identity, and he’s showing how vegan meals can be appetizing and not just bowls of salad and beans. The point sort of is that it’s vegan.

I follow this talented guy since the beginning, and some of the colours he uses include turmeric, pink pittaya, blue spirulina and matcha. He usually makes smoothies with frozen bananas and other fruit.

How many of these are edible? My personal experience is that vegan dairy substitute (i.e. vegan icr ecream, vegan cheese) does not taste as good as the real thing.

You are so wrong John. Keep trying vegan dairy substitutes, there are tasty ones out there. As for the "real" thing: did you know that no other animal - mammal drinks mother's milk after weaning? Not to mention the milk from another species!!! Only human beings are capable of such a perversity. Cow's (goat's, sheep's and which ever else's) milk, is not natural food for man, woman, or child. Animal milk protein - Casein is very dissimilar from humane protein and causes allergic and inflammatory reactions in human body - arthritis, rheumatism, chronic runny noses, recurrent ear and bronchial infections, asthmatic bronchitis , eczema, colitis. Like all that is not enough, it also contributes (together with meat) to clogged arteries, heart diseases, diabetes, and various cancers. Casein also neutralizes the good effects of calcium and actually contributes to osteoporosis. Vegans eat less calcium but have denser and stronger bones. - So much for "real" thing!

Is this food, or art made to look like food? What are some of the ingredients used? Is there more than just sugar and food coloring used? It's all gorgeous, but I want to know if there is any nutrition.

I visited Jo’s Instagram account and he has several YouTube videos where he demonstrates his process and shows a lot of the ingredients he uses. The artistic bowls are created using a thick smoothie base (most often puréed bananas, agave nectar or another cruelty free sweetener, non-dairy “milk”). There are natural food colourings you can purchase. Smoothie bowls are absolutely delicious, but I often find that they can have quite a lot of sugar from sweeteners.

Marius, you get diabetes by just eating meat, dairy, and eggs. Vegans do not have diabetes... arthritis, and cancers, and yes, they are not protein and calcium deficient!!
