Cosplay is truly becoming its own form of art with thousands of people investing time and money to create elaborate DIY costumes. And making a well-crafted cosplay costume is not that easy as it can require a multitude of skills, from sewing to crafting, from hair-styling to body-painting and makeup. But like many social media accounts and dozens of cons and competitions show, the number of those who have harnessed those skills is growing and growing, and the creme de la creme of the cosplayers world keeps pushing the limits further and further.
Yet perhaps those meticulous outfits of the most popular heroes have given us a very one-dimensional understanding of what cosplay is. After all, many people now judge the worth of a cool costume by how accurate or aesthetically appealing it is. Well, this Instagram account gives a look at a completely different genre of cosplay, where unusually famous characters are brought to life.
Mira Park posts under the name “beebinch” and her best cosplays are certainly eye-catching. One might look at her gallery and say that they are definitely unexpected as her ideas are original and, best of all, humorous.

You're...you're aware of what cosplay is, yes? Costume Play. It's only a Halloween costume if you where it on Halloween. The other 364 days it's cosplay. Please don't hate on these people or disrespect their work like that. They try extremely hard and put a lot of effort into it! I'm putting together a Cecil Palmer cosplay now and I'll be the first to tell you cosplay is difficult. Last year I went to a con dressed as San (Princess Mononoke) and even thought it was low quality, if was fun to make and wear. So I restate, people do this for fun, because they enjoy it. If others like it, that's a bonus. But please don't be so bland. Frankly, no one cares if you're unimpressed.

If I had a figure like that, I'd show it off too. But I think there are some characters where that doesn't work, like Jack Sparrow and Edgar Allen Poe. But this is an interesting discussion - is it objectification if you do it to yourself?.

I think it could be considered that way, objectifying yourself as a sex object to obtain attention. It could also be viewed the opposite way. The key here is why she chooses to objectify herself, only she knows this, and it's still her right to be free.

My personal opinion, which I have a right to, is that these costumes she made, which she has the right to make and post pictures of, shouldn't all fall under the title of cosplay. To me, a lot are just costumes. Some are very good, others, I think aren't that great. Y'all gotta stop being butt hurt over people's opinions. We've all got rights. We could, perhaps, discuss our differences and opinions like decent people.
