"If a person makes the only choice available to them, based on their developmental history, the prejudices of the country in which they were born, and their current environment, does that make them bad?" Joseph asks.
Everyone has a backstory that explains why they act a certain way. Can we convict them without it? Let's do a test.
Here's a list of situations in which the internet (most notably, this subreddit) thought individuals proved themselves to be rotten from the inside. Upvote the ones you agree with and let's see if there are deeds that don't need the context Maury Joseph was talking about to earn you some pretty nasty labels.

Omfg. I hope this baby found a home. This is exactly why I'm in the process of starting a senior animal hospice program out of my home. The thought of animals who had a family for 10+ years being dumped n dying in shelters makes me sick. I have 2 senior dogs n I couldn't imagine ever even spending a day away from them. Every moment is precious.... how could you do this to your family member? I mean, I see it all the time at SPCA where I volunteer... it's so f****d. But in the next 2 months I'm going to be taking in 2-6 senior animals who are very close to their last day just so they don't die in a kennel without proper love n without being spoiled first. That's the hardest part about working in shelters. Seeing these amazing animals get passed up because they're older only to die alone in a kennel makes you seriously hate human beings. If you're someone who can handle saying goodbye n knowing you did a good thing, PLEASE LOOK INTO DOING THIS TOO! There's no shortage of grey faces!

I was dogsitting for an elderly miniature poodle and noticed several health issues. Contacted the owner and asked if he has medication he's supposed to be taking, or what her vet said should be done. Found out the bitch hadn't taken her dog to the vet for the entirety of his 10+ years. I kept that poodle, got him medical care, and he lived for 4 more years. What really gets me, though, is the woman didn't give a s**t and got another puppy to neglect/abuse.
It would be such a *shame* if somebody misconstrued the "shoot me" part.
This makes me so sad and angry! My best friend died when he was 16. He was beyond a good boy. He was the best boy. For someone to treat a pet/family member as if they're a disposable thing is so disgusting it's far past forgivable. I've told this story before but this collection of the worst of humanity brought it to mind again. About 10 years ago, I was homeless and sleeping in a tent. I would hide it by a wooded area on some parkland and return when night fell to set it up. One night I arrived, found my tent at the same spot I had left it and started to put it up. That's when it became clear that someone had carefully slit long holes all along it, rendering it useless. Some people had obviously seen me take the tent down and stash it, and they thought it would be hilarious not only to destroy my home, but to be sly and wreck it unobtrusively and put it back, just to further mess with me. Not ashamed to say I cried like a baby that night lol. All faith in humanity was destroyed. For a long time
