Hi, my name is Julia Kuzina and I'm a contemporary artist.

Following my studies in marketing, I decided to take a new path and began creating a collection of pop surrealist paintings.

In some of my paintings, I visualize an unsettling feeling of anticipation, destruction, and the birth of a post-apocalyptic world. My works cause conflicted feelings of peace and anxiety.

In this post, I would like to share the secret and magical life of tiny birds. All paintings are small, just 15x15 cm.

From childhood, I've been drawn to creative pursuits. I always created and drew something, and my mom decided to support my passion by enrolling me in an art school. Memories of that time still bring warmth to me. However, due to my curiosity, life led me to the field of economics, and I worked in a bank and an office. But deep down, I always saw beauty around me and wanted to share it through painting. My path to art was winding, but I'm happy that I finally found my true passion.

I didn't even notice the sword belt at first; I was so captivated by the colour contrast!

This looks simultaneously serene and unsettling.

Birds began to appear on my canvases quite early, albeit in supporting roles. However, over time, I felt the desire to draw attention to these adorable creatures and created a series of paintings where they take center stage. Birds are incredible beings that live alongside us, capable of conquering the air and water. They are even descendants of dinosaurs, making them even more fascinating.

One day, a bird landed on my balcony and started observing me. From that moment on, I decided to set up a bird feeder on the balcony, especially as winter approached, to help them. I enjoy watching the birds gathering around the feeder. These moments bring joy and inspiration and have become an integral part of my artistic process.

Ideas for a painting can come suddenly or during sketching. Sometimes an image pops into my head, and I sketch or jot it down. I have a file on my phone where I record ideas. But the idea always comes from within.

I believe that true art should come from within, so I never resort to searching for ideas on the internet. This is important to me because I believe that using Pinterest or other idea sources can lead to plagiarism.

To create a sketch, I take photo references. I have a clay bird figurine that I made for this purpose. For the painting "Juggler," I inserted the legs from a jointed doll into a pear and took a photo.

I don't work on the pencil sketch in too much detail. I focus on details on the canvas itself.

This one looks like there's quite a story behind it, just like "Small Hunter."

I generally love art in all its forms and don't have any favorite artists in particular. I think Ray Caesar's paintings left a deep impression on me a long time ago.

However, I always believe that true inspiration comes from within. My creativity is closely tied to the subtle feelings of the world that I transfer onto the canvas. Additionally, the beauty and amazing craftsmanship of nature always influence and inspire me in my work.

This is why you should be kind to the smallest and meekest animals: they can destroy the cosmos.

Is this painting part of the one with the bird wearing the backpack? That bird is pulling this one? I like it!

When people look at my paintings with birds, I would like them to experience something special. Perhaps it's a mood from a different, wondrous world they've never seen. Maybe they'll see reflections of their own human traits or flaws in the birds. Perhaps they'll sense the power and strength inherent in these tiny creatures. It's important for each person to find in my works what's missing in their everyday reality.

Analyzing my work can be difficult at times because when I create, I don't always deeply understand every detail. I pour my feelings and emotions into my works, and it's much easier for me to express this through images rather than words. My goal is to make the viewer feel and experience something unique and one-of-a-kind.
