I was born in Romania 32 years ago. I can't imagine my life too much time far from my country. You will see in the photos why.

Romania has all 4 seasons, all kind of landforms, sea, rivers, old churches, medieval towns, Delta, rare birds, wildlife, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, traditions preserved hundreds of years.

and then you get to meet the corrupt government, the communism that still lives in everybody, the terrible mentality of "let's drag down everybody that's trying to do something good" and you quickly get over these cool pictures. sure it's good for a holiday, but when you eventually live there for longer ... you will get the point.

People have forgotten what natural beauty looks like. Everywhere we turn it's all make-up and plastic surgery gone mad. But this woman is stunning without all that c**p

It's a tradition, like the Torreo in Spain, but the bad thing in Romanja is that there are more bears killed illegally by rich poachers than by legal hunters.

That is the only way to be inside a bear, especially these bears.

I'll stick with a tanooki suit if I want to see something small wearing a animal's head.

I understand traditions are precious and easily lost through the generations...but with all of the technology and skills we have to create synthetic fibre and cloth that can keep you warm down to -40C, why kill an animal?

It still seems very grim to me to be dressing your child in dead animal carcasses with the head still attached, using its arms as sleeves. I understand its tradition, that means its old. Maybe it's a little out dated now? I wonder how it could be updated.

It` a not outdated. The tradition refers to Christmas period, and the role of costumes plays a big deal. The costumes, music, songs and dance form a performance, something that it`s so deep rooted in our culture. :) but not only children are implicated in it, also adults and old people still perform these rituals sort of it.
