Age equals wisdom, they say. And you can’t argue much. Just think of all the little things you had no clue about two days or two years ago. And we’re talking something seemingly insignificant, like correctly putting eyedrops in your eyes, tying trash bags and mastering zip lock bags. But boy, they make a difference.

And there’s a guy named Sidneyraz who basically won the internet for sharing these kind of tips and tricks with his huge audience of 3.3 million followers on his TikTok channel. Sidneyraz set out on a mission to “tell you things I didn’t know before I was in my 30s,” and so it’s basically an open offer to learn from his journey to know-how, aka slip ups, rather than learning them the hard way.

Below, we wrapped up some of Sidneyraz’s newest bits of advice, so scroll down and enjoy. Also, after you’re done, be sure to share more of his posts in our Bored Panda features here and here.

If its raw meat or "something gross" you can also do this by submerging it in cold water- the pressure of the water pushes the air out. Just make sure it isn't COMPLETELY underwater, just dunk it up to the closure line!

You can also put it in a bowl of water that covers the product. The water pressure does the 'vacuum' and you just seal the deal!

If you are vacuuming and it leaves a bad smell, then you should Invest in your health and nose and buy a vacuum cleaner with a good hepa filter. Adding something, that smells nice is like using a perfume instead of taking a shower.

That includes things like travel pillows, English muffins, trash bags, plungers, and so on."We all use the same things every day and [without questioning them] because that's how we were taught, but we have no idea why or if it's even right. So when I post a video showing a different way, it blows minds," the creator explained.

Another trick I learned by accident, if you cut a lemon in half and and shine a bright light from one side you can see where the seeds are and you can dig them out and don't get seeds in what ever you are trying to squeeze the lemon juice into.

OR, you can use a $15 electric squeezer like the one I bought 20 years ago at Walgreens and is still going strong. Just used it to make strawberry with lemon juice and monk fruit sugar. Can't tell the difference from real sugar as long as you let it sit overnight in its juices. This is good for a quick and dirty squeeze, but if you are making lemonade or similar, you need a real rotary squeezer or you'll have forearms like Popeye.

Be warned! On many systems the top half is what holds the bottom half and waste pipe in place. Undoing the top part could make the bottom part drop away and hard to reconnect.

it probably wasn't put back into place properly! once the drain has been removed, it tends to have areas of leakage when replaced. easily remedied with something to seal it, like building putty or waterproof industrial bathroom glues

Do check if you ave the right kind of drain first - many drains here in the Netherlands simply have a screw in the middle.

Ok, so, like nearly everyone else has pointed out, a lot of these tips aren't "new" for a lot of people with a certain level of life experience, but this one absolutely is. I knew you could unscrew the drain, but it never occurred to me there was a specific tool to help. So that's new!

Should you be doing that without sealing it back up when you're done? I don't know about this one lol. I've had mine taken out but there's some white ... stuff they put all around it & it had to dry for like a few hours before we could run the water.

Almost certainly. It's a big metal box. Depending on where your thermometer is in the car you're probably going to be measuring radiation on the bonnet as well as air temperature. Having said which I find my car to be pretty good as long as it hasn't been sitting at rest in the sun.

I find this dubious. Cutting anything in a grinder necessarily dulls the blades somewhat. Might it "clean out" some of the residue there? Maybe. But saying that it "sharpens" the blades has to be wrong. Let's take this to it's logical conclusion: according to him, a grinder that is used only for rice would never get dull. I could be wrong, but this sounds like something that keeps getting passed around but is ultimately based on nothing.

I've been advised by my plumber to use glass and/or broken ceramic pieces to sharpen the blades on my garbage disposal. I've never had a way to test this theory, but it hasn't broken the disposal yet either. I use a stone to sharpen knives and scissors, a file to sharpen other metal tools, so this tip sounds like it's feasible to me. I suppose I'll have to buy a coffee grinder and find out for myself.

    Izzy

a bit of everything you said! it isn't very effective for extremely fresh garlic. you need to have had it for a couple days so the extra moisture can wick. the dryer it is, the easier the peel would come off. you do also need a very solid, hard container so it can rattle properly. and you need to shake it really really hard. comically hard. and do it for a fair amount of time it can take a while. cutting the tops and bottoms off helps it dislodge much quicker too. it has worked for me but considering how long it takes to do it, plus not knowing if it'll work on the garlic until i've tried, and having to cut parts off to make it effective, i hardly ever use the trick. just cut the top and bottom off, leave it in water for a bit and the peel more or less slides off in a jiffy

It’s no secret that most people tend to romanticize nostalgia and look back on their memories with the sense that the old times were somehow better. It feels tempting to think of the old days as simpler and less chaotic than the present.

This is especially true when we look back on our childhood or earlier days, and focus on positive memories. In contrast, the present moment seems always challenging in one way or another, and only after it’s long gone can we look back at it with a sense of appreciation.

I use painters tape to tape up a paper “pocket” up. Think folded open (junk mail) envelope or folded in half sheet paper. With lath and plaster walls where you need a masonry bit to get through, this really does minimize mess.

that's actually a really clever trick! far bigger pocket to catch most of the mess, unlike with the bit of tape. plus you're not reliant on the stickiness to hold ur mess when u remove (which can be a problem bc if there's a lot, only the first layer is actually stuck to the tape. the rest is just sitting on top waiting to flop to the floor the moment u fiddle w it). i've been doing a lot of little DIY projects to try to busy my mind and make myself do something productive during this really horrible mental health period. i always just left it and hoovered at the end bc tape wasn't catching enough for me to bother w the extra step. deffo gonna try ur one! thanks!

Depends on the sleeping bag. Modern ones with the loose stuffing, just ram it into the bag. Older ones with a flat layer of stuffing, you need to roll

If you are attempting to preserve the performance/warmth of the fill, bags should be stored loose to preserve the loft and not damage/tear the fill. Do not roll. — I also suggest not rolling a bag with “solid” or stranded poly fill. Rolling or rough handling cold dislodge or tear the fill, especially where it’s sewn to the fabric/shell, resulting in cold spots (where the layer of fill is damaged). —down bags should also be stored loose. —-generally, poly does not retain its thermal properties over many years. Down would be more effective in lower dry temps in the long run (unless you are in very wet conditions, and/or your fill is not rated dri-down).

220 grit aluminum oxide wet/dry, make 5 cuts the regular way, then flip the handles and make 5 more cuts. Each blade needs to cut thru the sanding side. Emory boards, yes the ones used on fingernails, can be used like a file to sand down rough edges, or rolled edges on kitchen knives. The knife isnt dull, the cutting edges get rolled over, use the bottom of a ceramic cup and draw the edge backwards, like you were making a cut backwards on the unglazed edge to hone the edge you sanded it with.

You're supposed to pull them off so they're inside out (unless you plan to re-use them). That way any contamination/germs stay inside the glove rather than transferring it to your hands. Especially when dealing with biohazards like body fluids and chemicals.

It also depends on the car's class. Usually higher priced/bigger cars have this feature, small/cheaper ones not.

I hink unless it is really old (like 20yrs plus), at least the bigger ones all have this feature. If it does, the switch is usually underneath the steeringwheel. It's not obvious and you need to fumble around a bit.

Not mine. Just up and down. Would love it to adjust back and forward. My last truck did but not this one.

They don't on any of mine. I have one that adjusts up and down only. The other two have fixed wheels. Backwards and forwards requires a pair of tubes that slide in and out of one another and although it was invented a long time ago, is not that common. Up down requires a universal joint and they are more common now, as they are part of the safety mechanism that pulls the wheel away from you in the event of a crash.

First, they are sparklers, not sparkles. Read the box. Second, lighting them from the bottom just puts two sparklers closer to your hand. This suggestion is a FAIL.

I remember lighting them in the middle so you got two points of light. :-)

I can see the logic here. You know that the flames won’t get any closer if you start at the bottom. They can’t sneak up on you if they’re moving away from you.

It's going to burn at the lowest point whether you start it there or let it burn down to there though.

How the hell does this make sense? If the Sparkler gets lit at the other end it just means you're going to get burned earlier.

So that you get burned as soon as you light the sparkler, instead of waiting until it's almost finished burning. Man, this dud is an idiot.

But it’s still sparking at that spot no matter where you light it from, that doesn’t do anything

I think he means to put the lighter under and the sparkler over, so that when the sparkler lights, the sparkles fly up onto your hand and arm.

No, you pour it in the middle of the trash can on top of whatever looks the least “melty”. You loose the game if it touches the trash bag while hot. Bonus points if you can pour it into some sort of container on the top of the trash.

That's not pouring it *directly* into the sink. That's pouring it into a tinfoil cup that happens to be in the sink.

That's misleading. You are pouring it in the sink but not down the drain. Very misleading.

Just let it cool and coagulate so you can toss in the garbage safely. Don't risk any going down the drain or potentially burning stuff in the garbage or melting the garbage bag

I pour ours into a coffee mug then refrigerate, then scoop it out and throw away, unless it’s bacon grease that stays in fridge and gets used.

Um no you can the whole purpose is because it's not meant for the drain, it's not because it's hard to get in their it's because you're not supposed to put it down there. This guy is a dumbbutt.

Better done in the toaster oven (like the one on the counter in the screenshot). Just crack a couple onto the tray and 8 minutes or so later, baked eggs.

One day I was at work and the boss said hey could you go upstairs and see if there's any milk in the staff fridge? There was none, but there were some Zooper Doopers so I grabbed some of those to cheer everyone up. Boss took hers and said "oh hey, I saw someone do a trick with one of these! Let's see if it actually works!" She did what the guy in the picture is apparently doing. It did not work.
