It is fine, although I am not childless. What's nerve wrecking is the constant bashing from both sides, like it is some kind of religion.

In my area, this is directly connected with tradition and religion. You are seen as useless and even "cursed" if you don't have children. You are blamed, shamed, isolated, pitied. That's why religious people should keep their beliefs to themselves. It's your decision if you wish to have 20 children, but don't preach me about "God's will" or my "biological role".

I dont feel like its hated on. I dont have children and dont feel judged by it eather. Maybe I just surround myself with great people.

Choosing not to have kids is not selfish. That is for all the people who demand child free couples have children and call them selfish for not doing so.

There seems to be such a pressure from people for you to drink... I hate spending 10 minutes explaining that I don't drink because I just don't want to (which is a perfectly fine reason).

"Do you drink?" "Yes, I drink water, milk, tea, coffee..." Everybody drinks.

It's such a weird expectation because if everyone is drinking apple juice, they understand just fine if someone is not in the mood for apple juice, or if someone is never in the mood for apple juice.

Any driving involved within hours of the end of dinner = water at dinner.

I'll tell people straight, alcohol messes with my brain chemistry so badly that even a single small glass will have me so depressed within 2 weeks that I'm actively planning ways to take myself from this world. Personality disorders and alcohol do not mix!

Richard Dawkins told a story which really illustrates the value of this sort of thing. He had a professor who had a certain theory he absolutely loved and was always talking about. Then one day a visiting scientist gave a presentation which proved the theory to be completely wrong. Whereupon the professor went up to him, shook him by the hand and said "Thankyou so much - you've proven I was wrong all these years!"

I don’t downrate people for making mistakes. I downrate them for being unwilling to admit it. I much more readily trust a person who’s willing to say “I was wrong” or “I made a mistake” than one who bullheadedly insists that they’re never wrong and have never made mistakes. ETA: I also downrate people who won’t accept people who admit to their mistakes.

The exception here is politicians. When they change their mind it's because they're trying to kiss the a$$ of some demographic whose votes they want. Isn't that so Kamala?

If I can't go to bed before 3 AM, and then I sleep in until 11, that's not a sign of "laziness". That's my chronotype.

I sleep in because I am exhausted, either mentally, physically, emotionally, or all three. If someone does not like it, do not call me.

I've learnt that ''to sit' and 'to rest' are both verbs, so I AM doing something when I choose these activities (particularly necessary for someone who has chronic fatigue, and particularly difficult for someone who was brought up by a mother who never stopped, and thought sitting except when at the dinner table was the height of laziness. These two facts may or not be related...)

My favorite way of "thinking" is when I lay down in bed on my back. If I meditated and emptied my mind out, I'd be praised. But if I lay down in bed, I'm told I'm lazy. But I am thinking. Thinking of things to do, scenarios that will never come true, phones calls I have to make and what to say, passages of books I might write, how I'm going to do some projects, changing and building dollhouse I have, etc. A lot gets accomplished when I just lay down and think. My brain never turns off. *sigh*

I sometimes have a sort of idea. Engineering stuff, we tend to be so ... and NEED to sit idling and thinking it through with nothing else cluttering my mind or vision. If you're a little tad into modern cars' suspensions, or anything that performs complex, determined motion, you'll know what I mean...

I learned to tolerate spiders during lockdown. At some point I even named one of them, and used to greet it every morning :)))

My cats eat the critters I don't want in my house.

Spiders seem to like me.... they've been in and around the last several houses I've lived in... and with the exception of a black widow that I found, but was not alive , they don't bother me

In NZ we don’t have any real spider threats. There’s the Katipo but I don’t even know when anyone last had a problem with one. It must be decades. I like spiders (except white tails. Aussie import). We even had one (no idea what variety but chonky and black) in the corner of our bedroom that lived there a few years, named Boris. We were sorry when he passed.

As someone in retail, I know somewhat the kind of stresses they can deal with. If ever I notice something is off, I just calmly and politely let the fast food worker know there's a mistake, and ask if it can be redone.

Agreed, I hate seeing people jumping the counter and assaulting employees because they didn't get their sauce.

It would never occur to me to be rude to any service providing person. I really don't care what job you are doing. Everybody deserves respect.

When I make my own, I use smoked streaky bacon, onions, green peppers, green and black olives, mushrooms, pineapple, mozzarella and cheddar cheese. It's my comfort autumn food.
