Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, citizens were free to watch YouTube videos to their hearts’ desire, without being constantly bombarded with ads for fat-burning tea and companies that will help you build the perfect resume. These same residents could go to the grocery store and purchase a gallon of milk without wondering if they were going to be able to pay rent that month, and they could walk home without hearing TikToks blaring from other people's phones.
Romanticizing the past isn’t always the healthiest thing to do. But we have to admit, there are some things that have gotten way out of hand these days, so Reddit users have recently been calling them out. Below, you’ll find some of these annoyances that likely grind your gears too, so enjoy reading through and be sure to upvote the things you’d like to put an end to as well!

Already out of hand and has been for a while, but keeps getting worse: advertisements everywhere.
YouTube is getting worse for this. Showing ads halfway through the video you're watching.
And not even waiting for a natural pause in the video. Just randomly cutting in right in the middle of a sentence or a word!
Load More Replies...I’ve noticed the ads here as well, it doesn’t bother me, but when I’m reading and it’s constantly flicking and I have to either scroll back up or down to see where I left off
Watch TV for 5 mins and see if a 5 min tv ad bothers you. I’ll take web ads any day of the week.
Hardly anyone watches live tv any more. A majority either use catch-up services or streaming. (True for the UK, can't speak for every country).
Load More Replies...uBlock origin. They don't let ads through from companies who bribe-- er, *pay* them, and they work on video/audio ads.
Yes do this no ads in youtube on your computer.
Load More Replies...Bored Panda. Facebook feed. Now Facebook Marketplace. And Facebook videos. Social Media. Always accidentally clicking and opening ads while scrolling, and I am sick of it. Ddo ads the right way. No videos, just some on the side, as they do in newspapers and magazines.. If you push your ad in my face I will not support you.
Hell, when I pause Hulu I get an ad in the top right corner and more often than not, a website knows I'm using an adblocker and I have to turn it off.
I've heard that in one of the Scandinavian countries (I can't remember which one) commercials in a movie on TV become more and more frequent as the movie progresses. So the first half hour 1 block of 5 minutes, then every 20 minutes, then every 10, every 5. Does anyone know if that's really true or is this nonsense?
It´s true or it used to be in Sweden! Not every 10 and 5 minutes but the ad breaks also got longer. Haven´t watched commercial tv for years.
Load More Replies...Explain to me why my three-year-old niece is watching shows on an app specifically for kids, in a section specifically for her age group, and still has to sit through ads.
Influencers.
They turn my stomach, how much fakery is enough? Get out and live people, who cares what the "love me dos" are doing, seriously.
They need to get a real job and join the rest of us in the real world. Spending 100% of your life in a fantasy world Is indicative of some kind of mental/emotional issue.
Load More Replies...No, That term is now reserved for a certain political party in the good ol us.of.a.
Load More Replies...Influencers have to be some of the most vapid, entitled people. "What do you mean this meal isn't free!? But, I'm a social media Influencer! Ugh, I'm leaving this place a negative review for mistreatment."
I don't like them, but I feel like the problem is not the influencers. It is the viewers. The only way an influencer becomes "big" is if viewers watch their videos, purchase their products and so on. Related would be all the scripted 'reality' shows full of petty drama. In both cases c**p is making bank because enough people want to consume the c**p. Influencers are like the gods and mythical creatures in some stories - if enough people stop believing in them they lose power and fade away.
Seriously though I don't care who you are and what you bought or made today - i can barely pay attention to my life
I have no problem with people anointing them selves as "influencers". It's helpful to know whom to completely ignore quickly and easily.
Illiteracy, be it scientific, biological, or media. Too many people are too comfortable with not understanding things.
Yup. It's like, "Oh, we don't waste time fact checking. We trust our news source to tell us what we need to know"... *sigh*
Load More Replies...It is not possible to understand everything and for thousends of years there was always a huge percentage of illiterate people - but back then they worked short hard lifes in the field and had to obey the educated elite - nowadays they want to decide everything and want to vote and want to talk about it......
Indeed. I would like to add that even illiterate people from the past has knowledge, but a different kind. peasants who couldn't read knew much about animals, plants, how to manage everyday life with almost nothing available...
Load More Replies...It's ironic how high this is on the list considering how many times I've been downvoted to oblivion for either telling the truth or correcting a false comment. Just because something agrees with the popular narrative doesn't make it true!
The popular narrative is terrifying. The truth isn’t valued anymore. It’s now known as “their truth”🙄

Rich getting richer and the poorer getting poorer.
When I was young I was poor. After many years of hard work I can safely say I am no longer young anymore
lol I was gonna say congrats but hey! your not young
Load More Replies...Society is seriously starting to hate the rich on the similar level as French did just before the revolution... I don't know if they are aware of that but seriously I sense some history repeating itself here...
It's because the modern rich are duplicating the predatory practives and attitudes of that French aristocracy. So they get the dame reaction from their victims.
Load More Replies...The percentage of the super wealthy vs the poor has gotten so out of hand, and yet people still buy the scientifically disproven propaganda that the wealthy create jobs through trickle-down economics. It hasn’t worked, and the evidence is all around us. Especially when inflation is out of control for now other reason than companies posting RECORD MEGA profits since 2019.
Since the beginning of human society this has been a constant. And the attempts to rectify it are not particularly 100% successful.

Everyplace asking for a tip.
I'm starting to see tip jars in alot of take away shops in Australia lately, like WTF?
Load More Replies...I live in the US and I have defended tipping in the past. I still defend tipping when you are at a sit down restaurant for example but it is getting out of hand at other places and needs to stop. I wont tip at a f*****g drive through
Same.. I tip according to the venue/service. Drive thru or where I order at a counter and clean up after myself = no tip. Sit down restaurant, delivery, or service is actually provided = tip. Something really personal like haircut, pedicure, massage = big tip.
Load More Replies...Ahhhhhhh! While purchasing a t shirt at a concert the pay screen presented me with the opportunity to tip 15% to 25%. Lordy!
I just don't tip unless the service is excellent. Luckily I am not from the US so it's not expected.
Come to Europe, where tip jars are considered insignificant and you will not seem like an animal to others for not tipping anything.
As long as it stays an option it is totally fine to have a tip jar. If the visit to a store is a really incredible experience with eceptionally nice/professional staff I am more than happy to reward that - but not if it bocomes a costum "law" to have to tip for even mediocre stuff
We went pretty Wild recently and ordered some Wings to be picked up (not Buffalo ones, but you can follow the capitals, it's a popular place). The bill was just over 60 bucks, I handed her 80, and she deadpan asked, "Would you like some change back?". Ummm, yeah, all you did was hand me a bag of wings and you want more than 30% tip?! Hell in a handbasket, I tells ya.
People doing outrageous s**t in public for views. No one cares, you’re not cute for being disruptive.
Extra points if you can call someone sexist, ableist, or racist if they tell you to please stop
Indeed, these are an easy way to avoid criticism whereas you're being judged for your behavior and not your ethnicity or identity. Those accusations cause great harm to important causes, unfortunately.

Kind of how I've grown to feel about "flash mobs". Oh, sweet, you and your co-workers from Sprouts hit the mall and spaz danced to a shi**y Black Eyed Peas song. Yes, please "suddenly disperse" now.
Like the artist who recently called the Target employee racist for asking them not to dance in the store. Ask permission. I'm sure they'd be down for it if you do it after the store closes.

Take a charge and hit them with a baguette. Or shoot them with a bright pink water pistol. Or simply yell as loud as you can to disrupt their disruption
Comment sections on social media. They used to be pretty fun to scroll through and engage with, now it’s mostly full of insufferable people who get off on arguing with strangers online picking fights over literally anything.

The reason people picks fights is because some people are just so far gone, be it due to ignorance or some extreme political view, but it's the kind of thing that a few years ago would have branded someone as a troll, but now it's someone's actual opinion
Mostly not here. That's the only reason Bouche and Audi are allowed on BP.
Like on boredpanda, someone posts an interesting or humorous item and there is always someone who has to be a buzz killer. So you don't find it funny doesn't mean you have to point out all that is wrong with the post.
The political divide in the U.S. is the worst I’ve seen it in my 43 years on this planet.
In the US we're quickly approaching another presidential election year and our front runners are, *again*, Joe Biden and Donald Trump. It's a disappointment at best and a s**t show at worst. I'm disgusted by all of it.
I've often thought the US (and probably any country, really) should have a maximum age to run for president. There's a minimum age of 35 in the US; there should be a max age, too. It's a hella intense and stressful job, you shouldn't be right smack in the prime age bracket for dementia and Alzheimer's, and you should be young enough that the future impacts you too (so just *maybe* you put more stock into policies that benefit future generations, but that probably wouldn't happen anyway, sadly).
Load More Replies...It is scary! It starts to happen everywhere! In Poland also, last electiosn were around 51/49% so country is divided in half and EVERY argument on the internet is calling everyone either a woke lefty or ultra rightie and there is nothing in between... And I see it happening everywhere when I talk to my friends abroad :(
It’s all cuz of social media. It tells you what you want to hear and so you become close-minded and never listen to anyone else’s opinions. 😔
That’s because Trump encouraged it. From claiming the election was stolen, to calling for civil unrest, to giving Democrats stupid nicknames like “crooked Hillary” and telling lies from a position of power. His fans believe everything he says without fact checking and attack anybody who questions his facts.
They love buzz words like socialist, communist, and “woke” even though none of them know what those words mean.
you forgot Marxist, Globalist, Radical Left and Soros-linked

Grocery prices.
Why are so many staples going up by 60% or more? Supermarket brand bread has gone from $1.00 per loaf to $2.60 in 3 years. At the same time practically no workers have had pay rises outside management and many have had pay drops. Management rates in the meantime get increases over 15% in many of the years.
Only the government has the power to intervene in market forces. But half the country wants government out of their lives. Let the free market regulate everything. Except that market is under the control of the greedy 1 percenters at the top of the heap. It is a rigged economic system.

I love the Mike Tyson quote, “Social media made you all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.” You see so many people on the internet (who could be any age) and nowadays a ton of kids and teenagers who believe they can get away with any s****y behaviour. The US healthcare system. It just gets worse (greedier) year after year.
I want to state that the actual care we receive isn't the issue. The Nurses and doctors do a good job and genuinely want to take care of their patients . Its the f*****g insurance companies that are the issue.

Planned obsolescence. The absolute worst. How is it that a 400 dollar phone and 1500 dollar phone have the same 1 year warranty?
Money, honey. All about money. People cheat on each other, betray each other, hate each other and kill each other for money.
How is it that phones are $400, let alone $1500. This is robbery, and the planned obsolescence is helping destroy the planet.
This is where you need to check out the actual rules. I imagine it varies from country to country, but in Australia there are consumer guarantees and there are warranties. We have a mandatory 1 year warranty on practically everything here. But if you buy a fridge there is a consumer guarantee of something more like five years. Because a reasonable customer would expect it to last at least that long. Same with phones. Buy a cheapie and yeah it might only get a 1 year warranty, but buy a $2000 flagship you can expect 2 probably 3 years of warranty on it. https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-services/warranties and more importantly https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-services/consumer-rights-and-guarantees
It may be that they are equally likely to have problems. The extra cost represents extra features, not extra reliability.
Monthly subscriptions. Not just streaming services. Software, games and even vehicle features.
It's like the MBAs from MBB have their hands in everything now.
And some cars even have subscriptions for things like heated seats or extra power. No kidding (BMW, Tesla,...).
Tesla has a subscription for internet monthly connectivity. Unless it’s changed the heated seats is a one time unlock, which is weird because it’s right there but not turned on.

‘Main character’ syndrome.
mh985:
Social media feeding into people’s narcissism.
_Perfect_Mistake_:
“Me me me” attitude. Social media has played a huge part of this attention-seeking attitude. Everyone feels the need to be recognized.
Which means they are side characters for ALL the rest of the world. And invisible/unheard of for 99.9% of people living today.

Apps! Every business, website, service, you name it has its own damn app now. 3 Factor authorization also means that I have to download several apps on my personal phone just to be able to access sites required by my employer to do my job.
A lot of those apps are just web pages and your company has strict security measures to protect the data in their care. That data will be personal so a data breach is bad news. Especially in Europe and UK where a GDPR breach can cost millions if the company is large enough.
If they're just a web page then they can use a sodding web page. These apps are performative security and do naff all to actually protect my data. Even worse, they all seem to want permission to track my audio, video, tracking etc. Like heck am I letting any employer, store etc have access to my camera, mic, and tracking data. How the heck does all that information being stored in remote locations make my data *more* secure?
Load More Replies...or when websites ask you to use an app. I find it as stupid as going to the butcher directly to buy my meat and being told to go home to order it by phone...
My employer wanted me to install apps on my private phone for use on the job. Now way I am doing that! If I need an app to do my work, it is my employers job to provide the device.
Every website wants to send me notifications. Every other website insists I have an account to access their website, even though they aren't directly selling anything.
Went to the fair last month. Fair food expensive so I stopped at Burger King on the way. tried to order the special I found on their web site. Was told I could only order that via their app. (web page made NO mention of that requirement. It was several dollars cheaper so I installed the app in the store - showed them the coupon code and got the cheap price. After that - the BK won't STFU and kept sending me updates and deals and notices so I uninstalled it.
I almost had to PURCHASE a new phone that I couldn't afford just to continue doing the job I'd had for a year and a half because they changed the system.
I don't mind the phone based authenticators. I used to have a dongle that hung on my keyring just to get into the building and a couple others for different apps. Kinda nice just needing one device to cover all of them now. And in general that makes security, well... more secure. I am not a fan of apps when a webpage does the job just fine though.
social media & phone addiction, i work with kids and it’s surreal how they are born into it, it’s so normalised creativity is dying, I fear our next generation, everyone is glued to their phones.
Yeah this isn't getting any better either, I saw a kid that can't have been older than 2 with an ipad sitting in a stroller while the mom was on her phone and looking at make-up like wtf? Why did you get a kid if this is how you're gonna deal with them? What about interacting with them?
However people are always saying how kids are glued and addicted to their phones and where that may be true in *a lot of but not all* cases people do seem to overlook the addictions that a lot of adults also have to technology and I find the younger generations are often targeted
I mean, do you think this is a new thing? the millennial generation was addicted to their TVs and you saw how that turned out.
I don't have a phone and i am 13 a family rule is you get a phone at 14
Older generation always complain about what the young people are doing. We have all the info available so we can move forward faster not having to reinvent the wheel.
Honestly, I find this is so much worse in the older generation. When out with a bunch of 50-70 year olds and they were taking photos the WHOLE time of EVERYONE and looking at their phones all the time during breaks (choir thing). I was the youngest person there and the only one not on my phone. As soom as my MIL got a phone, its out all the time. She constantly wants to show us photos on it. The upside is that it has replaced holiday-photo slide shows (literally with slides and a projector). The younger generation seem to all have phones, but get more creative with them
Climate change is getting scary now. People seem content to ignore it till it kills them though.
This why the younger generation have to think twice about having kids unfortunately.
And everyone needs to thinks twice about who they vote for instead of just automatically voting for whoever your church, your friends, or your sportsbar buddies tell you to vote for..

Load More Replies...I don't think we can stop it now and I wonder if really ever could. The earth has been warming for the last 100,000 years. It is part of a natural cycle. Changing climate moved forced the big herds out of Africa and our ancient ancestors followed them to every corner of the planet. Melting glacier water allowed for masive ancient settlements in places that are deserts now. Now, 12000 years later I think we need to stop focusing on stopping climate change and work on managing its impact. It's going to be hotter. Storms are going to get bigger and carry more rain. We're going to experience more droughts. Some animal species are going to die off as their ecological niches disappear. Coastal waters will rise submerging some settled areas. We need to focus on mitigating these things because the train has left the station on climate change. It's a done deal now and we aren't going to stop it. We just need to survive it.

Load More Replies...Easiest solution to climate change: ignore it, let the problem grow bigger until it gets out of control and kills a huge part of mankind - the remaining people are not enought to create lots of pollution anymore and the problem is solved
Even that wouldn't solve it. There are tipping points that can't be reversed once they're hit, even if all pollution stopped.

Rent increases and mortgage rates.
Rent has gone from $200 a week to $550 a week in Tasmania Australia. In something like 6 years.
Agreed. Our mortgage has near on doubled in the last three years, Tassie here too.

We may “own” our house, but we still have to pay insurance, property taxes, all utilities and any repairs, etc. Those all keep going up.
Where I live in Massachusetts, 10 years ago 1 bedroom apartments were $700-$950 on average, now you can't even find a studio apartment for under $1,200. My rent has nearly doubled over the years, it's crazy
I was extremely fortunate to refinance my house last year at 2.12%. Now rates are 7+%
Yeah. I refinanced to 2.75% from 4% a few years ago. Can't imagine trying to buy a house now. Especially since all the house prices are soooo inflated.
Load More Replies...It's sometimes complicated... As an example: My friend bought a flat 5y ago but after a short while moved in with the partner. He had no ideas if relationship will work out therefor he decided to rent his apartment for an amount equal mortgage + costs. Rewind to current moment: His mortgage tripled and costs went up as well. What he suppose to do in your opinion ? Lose an apartment he've been saving for way over 10y to the bank or increase the rent? "Why he don't just sell it?" Selling now is pretty much an impossibility (mortgage interest rates at 11.5% and deposit requirement for buying own stands at 28%), yet there are very few apartments for rent on the market...
Gun violence. It’s BEEN out of hand but it’s absolutely terrifying to live in the US right now. Nowhere is safe - not church, not your local bar, not the bank, not the farmers market, not a music festival or concert, nowhere is safe.
I have a slight suspicion this is an issue in only specific countries.
The post specifically tells you which country it's talking about. Violence levels in most countries are lower than they have ever been and continuing to fall (with minor inevitable fluctuations).

Load More Replies...Nowhere has ever been *absolutely* safe. But there are degrees of risk. Mass shootings are very rare (though horrific, which is why they dominate the news). According to FBI statistics, 103 people were killed in mass shootings in 2021. In contrast, an average of nearly 60 women are killed *each month* by intimate partners, and about 70 people use guns on themselves *every day*. Suicide by gun is the leading cause of gun violence, but it receives nowhere near the attention of mass shooting.
Once our children's lives were put up for debate after Sandy Hook, it was a downhill slide. They don't care about the gun violence, because, y'know, there could be a good guy with a gun to take out the bad guy with a gun. 🤬 It's ridiculous!
This reads like it was written by an non-American who just goes by sensational news stories. YES - gun violence is out of hand. In part I blame the news for sensationalizing every shooting story for the clicks. But NO - it is not 'terrifying' to live in the USA and many places are safe. I feel absolutely no fear going to any of the places mentioned. That's like saying I'm terrified to get into a car because I saw in the news where an innocent driver got T-boned. EDIT: I am assuming OP is talking about USA since that is typically the context these days. Perhaps they are talking about some place where the drug cartels run the towns.
Government allowed criminals!! Gangs - created by the corrupt government. The Welfare State! The War on Drugs...The War on Poverty...etc. etc. etc... ALL for the government to make more $$$$$$ and keep people in control!
Indeed. Thank god we don't have a media that depends upon hyping scary stories and overstating dangers for profit. It would be TONS worse.
Corporate greed.
No, that is true, but it has gotten completely out of hand, in the US. Corporations own the politicians, and the politicians make laws that favor the corporations and wealthy, and it is goes on and on.
Load More Replies...*This* is the basis for many of these posts. 50 years ago, a local dairy paid someone to deliver milk, etc literally to your doorstep every day. Petrol stations paid someone to put fuel in your car, check the oil, and your tire pressure while it filled. And they did these things and still made a reasonable profit. A graph of median wages and corporate profit was linear...not anymore.
The notion that the private sector will run public services better and more efficiently is staggeringly naive by governments. All they’re doing is saying “Run this service in a cheap, exploitative way that benefits your shareholders at the expense of the public who use those services”. The scandals with water companies in the UK raising prices while dumping raw sewage into rivers and the sea, failing to maintain infrastructure at all levels while making record profits. It stinks (both literally and figuratively)
This! And in u.s., primarily a way to avoid providing health insurance to employees
Load More Replies...I got concerned years ago when CEO salaries went into the stratosphere. And here we are.
Not like we weren't warned 30+ years ago. Gordon Gekko's "greed is good, greed is right, greed will save the USA" monologue in Wall Street (1988) was far more prophetic than anyone wanted to believe.
Short videos on every social media app. It destroys the attention span and critical thinking abilities, mainly for children that grow up with these apps watching endless short videos. They will have no motivation to do something else that costs more effort and it is truly concerning.
Short attention span and no motivation, that sounds like me.
not completely agree, I spent a hilarious afternoon with my nieces preparing and filming one of those tiny movies. ma generation spend is life in front of a tv with long film and i don't feel smarter :)
Omg! This! I’ve banned myself from watching shorts since it’s destroying my attention span.
oh s**t I am an example of this. My attention span was bad to begin with, I have ADHD, and then I watch so. many. short. videos. My dad puts on compilations. and Its funny except they are like 15 secs long videos all crammed into a 20 minute video
Literally everything/everyone raising their prices for seriously everything. I have gotten so many "we are raising our prices this year to growing inflation" and yes the items are smaller, you dont get the same as you did before, or the product is worse. They all say we need to raise the rates for something because they cant afford to keep running their business on the prices now. But yet they show record profits. I'm looking at you Xcel.... among others and others and others just like this. Its insane.
They're raising the prices/shrinking the package so they can keep paying their CEOs millions a year.
2020 Covid, corporations: We are in this together. ~~ 2022 corporations: Sucks to be you, we lost money and are going to get it back and you will pay for it, our CEOs didn't get million dollar bonuses and they are pissed.
The major supermarkets in Australia have recorded record profits by price gouging their suppliers and customers. Absolute c***s.
A lack of self-awareness. People think its weak or whatever to be mindful of the people around you. It's insane the number of people that just don't care if they are an a*****e.
It's not that they don't care, they actually care very much about being the biggest a*****e possible.
In America, we had a President that promoted the F@CK YOU attitude.
Ah but they end up alone. People who behave badly can't keep the same people around for too long
Ok don't downvote me please - but lets be honest BP is a bit on the bias side ;) I love this site so much but as a conservative some things i read on here are pretty rude so i'd say #33 applies to people who think they are self aware but maybe not so much ;) just saying ~
Oh yea. At a busy supermarket check out taking ages to bag everything and then even longer to find your purse while everyone is waiting.
Disneys remakes 😂
I’m actually very confused, why are they remaking The Haunted Mansion? It’s not like the others where they’re being remade into live action movies, it was already live action, so what’s the purpose?
Plastic, especially single-use stuff.
This photo... our grocery stores stopped providing plastic bags (love it) and you have to buy paper bags or bring your own... no problem. Yet, just like this photo, there are rolls & rolls & rolls of plastic bags in the produce section. oxymoron
WE know the plastic problem why aren't we trying to solve it Lawmakers?
Plastic isn't going away. We need to find a real use for it when it's discarded, like maybe building roads or insulating buildings.
How is biotechnology related to the enormous anounts of single use plastic?
Load More Replies...The level of brightness on new car lights.
And the arseholes that drive right up your a**e at night blinding you!
I often wondered why no federal regulations exist to limit the height of headlights. High rise pickups are the worst offenders. But the people who drive those trucks on your tail get their kicks by intimidating others.
Load More Replies...Yessss! I can't even drive at night anymore because I live in the middle of nowhere on rural highways and my night vision is c**p to begin with. Those lights literally blind me.
Coupled with the fact that they’re installed to point straight forward instead of being tilted slightly down to illuminate the road. Also, people being totally unaware that they’ve got their bright lights on. Car manufacturers can install audible warnings that your door is open, but can install one to tell you your bright lights are on?
My mom’s car has an auto high beam function where the high beams shut off when they detect another car’s lights or a car in front of you. It’s wonderful! Too bad all cars don’t have that feature!
Load More Replies...Same. Headlights always interfered with my driving, but nowadays it's a whole new level.

This one has improved in my state. We went through a phase where many cars looked like they had their brights on. I believe I heard they changed the laws around some of the super bright lights some drivers were installing. The 'blue' headlights come to mind. They were pretty bad for a while.
I believe that with all these features they could make an automatic dimmer again .I had one in my 68 Buick Riviera! It automaticall ydimmed my lights even if I was coming up on a car from behind!
Homelessness.
This exploitative economic model creates outliers that shouldn't exist - the homeless and billionaires alike.
I think whoever downvoted you didn't understand what you are trying to say
Load More Replies...Part of that is from Reagan losing down all the facilities that took care of people who are unable to care for themselves. Granted, at the time many of them were underfunded, understaffed, and badly run—-many criminally bad. However, had their funding not been cut, and had there been more oversight of both public and private facilities, conditions would not have gotten to that point. We need to address this situation, and start collecting a proper amount of tax revenue from EVERYONE, including the wealthy—-how tf does a billionaire not only not pay taxes but get a hefty tax refund on top of it?—-to properly fund ALL types of social services. One of the hallmarks of a truly advanced civilization is that it takes good care of its smaller and weaker members. We’ve been dropping the ball on that duty for far too long now.
Where I'm from we don't have a 'homeless problem' Those people left without housing due to divorce or whatever are given temp accommodation. Usually takes around 6 months to find permanent accommodation from there. I know this because it happened to me..
I believe they are using the term "unhoused" now. Don't want to offend them.
Homelessness has always been here, it's just been making itself more known
But when we try to provide affordable housing we run into the old NIMBY syndrome. Here in Atlanta, the residents of the Mechanicsville stopped a proposed rehoming shelter for the homeless.

Where Ibwork, we maintain pumping stations for the water municipality. One station is a little 20x20 foot fenced in area next to a vacant lot. Until one day the lot wasn't vacant anymore and someone built a 3 story mcmansion 3 feet from the fence. Part of the upper stories overhang the station. One day, the owner comes out and wants us to MOVE THE STATION! Wanted us to just move it across the street (into someone else's yard no less) because it "was to close to their house". She couldn't understand that the the station went 40 feet deep and would cost more than the house cost to move. Not to mention the station was there decades before they decided to build the house damn near on top of it. Some people just don't think.
The lack of consequences & no accountability.
But that's only for the wealthy,:well-connected and members of law enforcement. The rest of us go straight to solitary or killed n the booking process.
Sadly this has trickled down to kids. They think they can do/ say anything with no consequences. And Mom and Dad, if they can pull themselves away from the phone long enough, back them up.
Load More Replies...It's everywhere at every level. I just quit teaching at a private school because the admin thoroughly embraced this by agreeing with the most irrational, unjustified complaints by entitled parents, blaming teachers, usually ending the conversation with "We'll see what we can do." This just enabled the craziness until the parents directly attacked the teacher. As one of the teachers this happened to, I addressed this with the admin, who refused to discuss it saying, "Handle it the best you can." The most frequent complaint had to do with course placement, which is never the teacher's job. After years of being blamed for things I had no involvement with or responsibility for, I left. As a side note, the kids were fantastic.
Cancel culture.
Well, depends on the definition. "Cancel culture" can be both a shorthand for "unrepentant bigots finally facing consequences for their actions" and "people getting backlash for some stupid sh#t they did 20 years ago". Only one of those is good / justified.
It can be under many forms. I for one hate the way we judge the past with today's eyes, or make today's people responsible for what happened centuries ago. This keeps society divided when we should all unite to face serious dangers such as global warming.
Load More Replies...I laugh at politicians who scream cancel culture while also voting to ban books.
To today's conservatives, the Nuremberg Trials were cancel culture.
Had to laugh at a so called 40yo friend of a friend who announced that "we were" "cancelling " a certain person she had a disagreement with. I laughed out loud, what BS, grow up!
I feel like that’s fading more since twitter (oh sorry, I meant “X”) is deteriorating.
There are things that should be cancelled. When I was young, I liked Bill Cosby's comedy. I won't watch it now, not after what he did. However, there are times I think we go too far. I said a lot of stupid stuff when I was young, and was lucky there was no internet to say it on. We have to understand that people change and people grow, and people when we're young tend to say and do stupid stuff. Give people credit for growing.
This is a stupid generic phrase that the right wing morons have latched onto and when challenged on it cant even define what it means.
Cancel is not and was not a thing. Its just a buzzword. people always have tried to “cancel” people its nothing new. Look at the dixie chicks. Social media just gives these people a larger platform.
People falsely claiming their dog is a service animal so they can take it with them anywhere they want.
1 million up votes. My husband has a real service dog that lived with the trainer for the 1st year of his life getting training, we would visit him once a month. You can tell a real service dog from fake in a milisecond once you have a real one & now how they react to situations. Here in the US there is no card saying the service dog is legit so as soon as someone says I have this card I call BS. Your service dog shouldn't be barking & riding in the grocery store cart BECKY! Emotional support animals are not service animals. A service animal must preform a task for instance my husbands protects him during a seizure
It infuriates me to be shopping at a local grocery store and see someone with their fur baby riding in the cart. Where shoppers place food items. What's worse, the management does absolutely nothing about it. For once, I would love to see an exclusive on the six 'o' clock news about this nonsense, complete with hidden videos of the offenders. The Health Department would have a serious field day.
Here in Canada you can’t do that. Your dog must be wearing a harness that says service dog on it.
Load More Replies...I asked my Doctor for a note stating that I needed a emotional support dog. He basically told me to f off. I will admit I wanted it so the dog I needed, would not cost an extra 100 a month. So I decided to adjust medications and eat less so I could afford the help I needed. LOVE the usa medical system (could not afford a mental health professional)
I have a non-traditional service dog. A******s make so hard. I'll happily provide you with the name of my doctor if you want to verify she is indeed a service dog. But she is perfectly behaved, so matter the situations. These people cause so much harm and they don't care.
Service animal should only refer to specially trained dogs, mainly for assistance to blind people, and that still is no excuse for them to be in most indoor places.
You are so wrong. Yes, special training is required to be a service dog, but your notation of "mainly for assistance for blind people" is about 30 years out of date. Your attitude toward service dogs make it harder for those of who needed this assistance to function in society.
Load More Replies...This I don't care about. As long as the pet isn't a f*****g gremlin and is just chilling it's fine, calm the f**k down. Dogs and people help each other by being around each other. And there are restaurants banning employees from wearing masks so don't even tell me it's about health concerns.
this got way worse with the rise in popularity of "comfort animals". Actual service animals are usually very well trained / well behaved / well marked. But anything that can eat and poop is a 'comfort animal' these days.
As someone who has a legit service dog, I agree with this. She is calm, performs her tasks quietly and efficiently. I wouldn't mind having to have a document, but sadly there are "doctors" who would sign anything for anyone.
Load More Replies...If they really have a service animal, they have to produce documentation that its a service animal.
No. Just no. Read the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as emmended in 2020. Everyone who comments here needs to read this. I reread it periodically. No one should make judgements before commenting. Please. See, that comment about producing a document. Someone who just reads this will probably find out what they're talking about.

Also, every time someone is blasting music out loud in public, it's the worst fkin' music you've ever heard.
And people constantly using speaker to talk on the phone regardless of where they are or what others are doing. I don't know how many times I've had to ask my girlfriend to not talk on speaker when I'm reading or watching TV or to at least please take it in the other room. I don't understand how people don't get that it's inconsiderate
The popular music on TikTok is some of the worst music I’ve ever heard in my life
The only time I do this is when I'm close to a panic attack and need the audio to help calm me down and forgot headphones, although I try to remember.

Outrage. It’s totally out of hand. Everyone gets outraged about everything. It’s fueling the divides and tearing the fabric of society and culture.
I think if you tried, you could be a *little* more outraged. Go on, tell us how you really feel!
Load More Replies...So true. there are legit things to be outraged over. Jim Crow laws in the USA for example. But these days it is often people thinking that making a big stink over nothing makes their point of view significant and right. "My drive through order took FIVE MINUTES! I went inside and yelled at the manager and then I stomped on all of their ketchup packets and posted the whole thing online."
When you see that today, some are outraged by science or mere facts, you get how this society is getting nuts.
Like omg I'm outraged you looked in my direction! (For the down vote fairy yes I was being sarcastic)
Biased reporting- fake news; sensationalism and reporting with a clear agenda.
Forget actual facts. Every news outlet avoids doing any actual journalism because there's no money in it. Instead they copy/paste AP stories (edited to put themselves, their advertisers and the politicians they've bought & paid for) and listicles from reddit.
Remember when the news was a half hour for local news and another half hour for national and world events and we all knew what was going on in the world, I do.
These "news" organizations are telling their audiences what they want to hear. When Fox News slips up and tells the truth (like Trump losing Arizona in 2020), its ratings drop. Ratings = $$$.
Or reporting widouth fact checking. Just today media in my country posted an article from reddit that i know it is written by a troll, author even said he is trolling in comments but did they check? Ofcourse not
Why of course. News is supposed to be entertainment, Didn't you know? It was two days before my folks realized we were at WAR with Japan!
A pretty good web site I found recently is Ground News https://ground.news/ they list most of the sources by degree of left or right bias and offer each news story from a variety of sources - showing the balance of each. You can use it to get a well rounded take on any given news story. OR - if you are so inclined - I guess you could use it to make sure you stay in your preferred bias isolation bubble.

The way people treat hospitality and retail staff. This week I had a woman lose her 💩 at me when I had to tell her she couldn’t take food out of the restaurant, I’ve had people ask for drinks but basically demand them and not even say please, I’ve had tables let their kids make a total mess of the table and floor and show no remorse because that’s what the staff are paid to do
Maybe it was a sit down restaurant and they were trying to take it out on a plate? Plenty of places aren't take away.
Load More Replies...Absolutely. And they usually never worked any of these jobs.
Load More Replies...I've worked various forms of retail over the years and this is nothing new. The mentality of the customer always being right has gotten out of hand. There are certain things the customer should expect, but the mentality that the worker is there to kiss the feet of the customer, that's low. We're not here to wipe your butt. We're here to assist you the best we can.
Not just hospitality and retail. I'm an RN at a hospital and you'd be simply amazed at the number of people who think nurses are a genie in a magic lamp when they push the call button... and then endlessly gripe "how horribly long" they "had to wait" when only five minutes goes by, like you neglected them or something. I'm sorry if I have 5 other patients and maybe one was having trouble breathing right when your pain pill became available. I know you would love me to stay in here chatting for the next half hour because your bored... or fixing your pillows that aren't fluffed just right... but the guy next door is incontinent and actually dependent on me for changes, turns, tube feeds, oral care, and like 5 different iv antibiotics. Sometimes you need to Fluff your own damn pillow with your perfectly functional arms, Linda.
Yeah, nurses aren't there to be the patients maid or server. They're there to do medical stuff. My dad has had a few hospital stays recently and I can't count how many times I had to stop him from treating the nurses like his servant.

Ich kenne es und es ist pure Respektlosigkeit und alles wird nur noch als Selbstverständlichkeit hingenommen
Managers REALLY need to get more liberal with kicking disruptive customers out. This has always been true, but it's demonstrably worse post-pandemic. It seems to me that a place that had a rep for pruning the Karens ASAP would more than make up for losing their business being patronized by the rest of us.
People treating political parties like sports teams. Yay democrats won! Yay GOP won! They are both f*****g you and 100% DO NOT GIVE A S**T ABOUT YOU OR YOUR PETTY LITTLE SOCIAL DIFFERENCES.
Part of the problem is that politicians are the new celebrities. It's all about how popular they are with the social media crowd. And, then there's the fact so many high ranking politicians spend a large amount of time on those social media platforms acting like children. I've seen governors, senators etc literally making fun of each other over their choice of wardrobe or what kind of car they drive, just to try to generate likes and shares.
Use the wedge topic to get you on board (left OR right), then continue to side with the folks with the biggest checks.
Truth is any politician who is slightly successful is actually a horrible person you have to do horrible things to accomplish anything- yes even the president
Stop getting your news from TikTok, dude. Literally every single form of social progress has been enacted by the left: unions, Social Security and Medicare, the 40-hour work week, workplace safety, reproductive rights, women's rights, rights for people of color, LGBTQ+ rights, bank and corporation regulation...the list is quite long. The parties are demonstrably not the same. And if you're not voting, STFU because you're part of the problem. There may not be a candidate you wish to vote FOR, but there certainly will be multiple candidates you'll want to vote AGAINST. Grow up and participate in the process. Or shut up. (I'm GenX and I haven't missed an election in 40 years. If my city had a special election for dog catcher, I'd be there to vote.)
I've been saying it for years. We have team colors (red vs blue), mascots (elephant and donkey) and so much team spirit we seem to have lost our ability to think rationally beyond "our team is great and their team is bad". I mean, if you look up 5 republicans and 5 democrats, 90% of the time, they wear their team colors. I've seen people say that members of this party can't be friends with members of that party, and if you're friends with a member of that party, you can't be friends with me; or the only good [Democrat/Republican] is a dead [Republican/Democrat] I just think that's wrong.
tbf, if someone doesn't think I'm fully human, and wishes harm to my kid, it's a bit more than "team sports." What an arrogant take.

The one thing I won't buy online is skin care products. I received a bottle of Olay off Ebay and it was three years old. I checked the lot # on Checkfresh. He was a good seller and he refunded my money but, you just never know what you are getting. And, just because it says sold and shipped by Amazon does not mean it's the real deal.
About four years ago I gave a fake address to a web site to find out mortgage interest rates in my local area. I keep adding the domains to my block list, they keep changing the domains. I should probably just add that text string to the subject line block list in my email program.
Not going to lie. Wish.com is not a scam. You get what you pay for,
"It now takes effort to sift through the c**p to find real things." Not really. If it has an advertisement, it's overpriced. Every time. So just don't buy anything that has an advertisement.
Even in stores, the number of brands of one item, each with numerous variations, is staggering.
Teaches children to think freely. Watch for scams. How to research. Etc.

Basically people getting their information from mainstream media. anyone who believes what they read anywhere without critical thinking cant be taken serious

How people easily get replaced. Be it jobs, friendships or relationship.
I think part of this is due to increased mobility-a couple of generations ago, more people tended to stay in the same town for life, and work for the same company for life. Nowadays, we move away from our hometown more readily, we change jobs more quickly and that mean we lose touch more easily. It's harder to maintain friendships when you're separated by distance and don't get the chance to meet up in person. Some friendships do come to a natural end.
If you have s****y friends and lovers, you should replace them - and if you are the s****y one, you should expect to be replaced!
That's my life lately. I've likely talked to some of the people I love the most for the last time, without knowing why. There are only so many ignored texts or calls before I stop trying. I could disappear and only my dog would notice.
Obesity. The strain it's causing on the healthcare system is enormous.
Blame food companies for loading up their food with sugar, fat, salt and worthless calories; blame the fact that healthy food is pricy and that your average min-wage, 2/3-job worker doesn't have the time or budget to prepare it. Blame increasing rates of depression, which makes even the most basic care tasks incredibly difficult, to say nothing of trying to exercise or maintain a diet. Blame long working hours requiring workers to sit for 8+ hours a day. I'm so f*cking tired of obese people being treated like dog$hit under the veneer of "concern for [your] health" or "the strain on the healthcare system" with 0 thought for the fact that these are human beings just as deserving of dignity and respect as non-obese people, or how they got to be obese in the first place.
I fall under this category, and have had complete strangers yell insults and throw garbage at me for existing while being fat. Why am I fat? First, back when I was a distance runner, I got very painful shin splints and collapsed arches, and it took 8 years of hounding medical to get them to do anything more than give me motrin and tell me to f*ck off. Then, my antidepressants stopped working (the infamous Prozac Poop-Out), and just getting out of bed in the morning was nearly impossible, let alone eating or working out. Finally, I developed not one, but TWO thyroid diseases that make it all but impossible for me to lose weight or try to maintain a normal diet. But nobody who harasses me cares about those things, they just see a woman having the audacity to be overweight, and think that means I deserve their deliberate, targeted cruelty.

Our obesity problem is NOT from being WELL fed. it is from all the c**p they put in the food to satisfy the poor. Nutrition wise, a poor person is malnourished and obese at the same time. Working 2 jobs 7 days a week they do not have the times to prepare meals that take hrs to cook. and the food that is affordable is not the healthiest. For those who say rice and beans are affordable - tell me how many weeks did you eat JUST ONLY that? If more than 2 (then you might have a say) But I HAVE been there, I now would rather not eat then have to deal with that again.

I developed very early, and to people who said that your tall or big or curvy is not a compliment! I think it is important to consider what other people are going through and how some people just can't help it, the pressure to be skinny and starve yourself is horrible and much worse than people being obese. So personally I very much disagree with this one and it's not really fair especially if your skinny due to genetics and other things to be saying this. But if your skinny just know I'm not saying that's a bad thing! Everyone is beautiful bo matter there body size! Also to everyone saying eat less and get off the couch, just please think about that, it's like my saying don't try so hard and eat more to you if you're skinny. Not very nice huh?

Catch 22, if we properly manage woodlands and forests there will be fewer wildfires, but if we do that we may endanger the three spotted fart owl.
Partisanship and disdain for expertise. Every moron in the world is convinced that watching youtube videos and regurgitating disinformation beats judicious study and qualifications, in forming an opinion.
And their own children pay the majority of the consequences for their parents’ blind stupidity.
And even worse, they believe that their opinion is just if not more qualified than scientific opinion and certainly more important
Agreed. How often the word theory is used for a nonsense idea some talking head pulled out of their @ss is infuriating. Science literally admits when it can't 100% prove something with evidence and logic.
If you believe that masks do not work you have a fundamental lack of understanding of how the world works.
Ignorance. So many poorly educated people with no desire to learn. Self education is now seen as a chore instead of a great skill or power. Knowledge is power.
I find the lack of basic biological education to be the most frightening. It's the cause for so much ongoing fear.
I love learning new things. I'm almost 69 and I love learning. I'm studying quantum physics right now. Keep the brain active. I worry about the lowering standard of education.
Load More Replies...Going to get even worse with utterly unqualified parents now thinking they can homeschool their children. If you, with your high school diploma, can’t spell, how tf do you think you’re more qualified to teach your child to spell than a teacher who has a degree in education?
My uncle believed that if you do not talk about sex, and prevent your son from exposure to any sexual content, then he would never get a girl pregnant. My cousin got his first girlfriend pregnant at age 16. They got married and had 5 kids. Maybe they never did figure out where kids come from.

I always feel stupid around some of my friends cause they understand financial stuff and how the actual world works a lot better than me (I'm not hopeless I'm just not great at it) but damn can I tell you a lot of facts about plants. Or crabs.
Man you sound like me. Don't feel stupid, nobody can know everything or their head would pop off. Either educate yourself about what your friends like to talk about or get new friends with more common interests.

I was asked not to long age which warI was a veteran of. The young lady that asked thought because i was older I served in the Confederate Navy?
The pressure from social media to look absolutely perfect at all times, to the point where everyday people are having surgery to alter their looks.
Again, there isn't really pressure. You're just comparing yourself to fake filters. People have always had surgery, long before social media. I've been online since the days you were assigned a number rather than chose a username, and never once felt like conforming.
Exactly. 20-30 years ago it was magazines and TV. I chose to discard those out of my life and there was no pressure anymore. Not surprisingly, I have zero social media accounts today.
Load More Replies...The worst thing about this is that there's like... half a dozen looks "acceptable" for social media. It's so refresing seeing someone, although imperfect, who doesn't conform to some beauty standards in the sea of Kardashian-wannabes.
If you are getting surgery based on someone you saw on social media then that is on you. Put down your phone and spend 10 minutes looking around you at real people in the park / mall / wherever without filters and a million followers. Statistically the chances are that you look average - which is totally perfectly fine.
This is an easy fix. GET TF OFF SOCIAL MEDIA. If it's making you feel this unhappy about yourself why keep doing it?
This is why I don't have a problem with aging. Yes I get stiffness and aches out of nowhere but I'm pretty comfortable in my own skin and I no longer feel that I have to compare myself to others. It's actually really liberating making peace with it and not feeling pressure to 'keep up'. I'm 45 and probably the happiest I've ever been in myself.
Artificial Intelligence.
Its not going to be long before people weaponize it
Load More Replies...Um...AI is just getting started. (Actually what we *call* AI isn't AI, but no matter.) We have no idea what it means (yet) for AI to get out of control. S****y art doesn't count.
The scary part about AI isn't the "oh no the device will become sentient" or even "the robots will steal all our jobs", it's that algorithms and programs are being built with biases. This isn't even nessecarily intentional, but AI's that have a harder time recognizing different skin tones or voice types as people is frightening. What happens if a self-driving car doesn't recognize a pedestrian? What happens when half of a products intended audience can't use it, because the algorithm can't recognize female voices?
AI isn't going to bring us into the world of Star Trek, it's going to bring us into This Perfect Day, 1984 or Brave New World!
Just like everything we do. It's going to be both amazing and horrifying, and we won't learn the consequences until after you can't convince a third of the population that they are real.
Please elucidate how our new AI masters can f**k things up worse than humans have. I for one welcome Colossus, the Forbin Project.
AI is good and most of you have been using it for many years. It is just getting a lot of hype in the news lately due to some jumps in its ability. People think of killer robots taking over the world and forget about practical stuff like voice recognition in phone menus, on the fly translation apps, better games, improved production in factories and a ton of other stuff AI is used for besides making AI pics of three legged gymnasts doing impossible contortions.
Inflation.
It has to be manufactured by collusion at this point, nothing else makes sense.
And FOX news and Republicans want everyone to believe inflation is all Joe Biden's fault. When the reality is that inflation is around the entire world. I hope I do not offend any flatearthers when I used the word "around".
Load More Replies...Armchair expertise…. i’ve been on social media since Facebook required a college email to sign up, I have never seen more unqualified people running their d**k lickers about things they have no knowledge of. Deconstructing movies they haven’t seen, criticizing ALL teachers when they literally can’t name one, moaning about laws they couldn’t comprehend if made to read, it’s kind of amazing but worrisome.
You do know social media isn't obligatory, right? You can be on the internet without it.
Choosing to not be on it doesn't negate the damage it does unfortunately.

Self-diagnosing autism and DID.

ADHD too.
It’s great that there’s so much awareness about autism and ADHD, but that also causes people, often teenagers, to claim they are without an actual diagnoses. It’s almost like it’s become popular because it makes you different.
My in laws tried to tell me my partner was autistic. I laughed so hard in all their faces and told them they were full of s**t. My partner has Mensa level IQ and apparently that makes him autistic according to the in laws. My bro has autism. I know what that s**t looks like
Road rage.
What they put in our food. Our food is banned in a lot of countries due to the chemicals. That in turn give you health issues that in turn make you get medicine.
Mental health crisis.
When I first went crazy, it really wasn't a 'thing'. I was an outcast, a pariah. We were supposed to suck it up. Now we all discuss our mental health so much that my last therapist asked if I had been diagnosed with my issues or merely thought I had them. Okay that's a downside to freedom to talk about it, but the fact it's not immediate hospitalisation and EST is a big positive.
I agree.. what you mention is great; HOWEVER, there seems to be a growing number of people behaving in ways that strongly indicate a cry for help but they're either unable or unwilling to access care.
Load More Replies...Mental health stuff is real. If people are self diagnosing and seeking help I don't think that's a bad thing, because early intervention can prevent further harm. Is it fashionable? I don't think so. I think people are more aware and feel able to identify grief, depression, sadness.
Real estate prices I'm finally earning a decent enough living to be able to own (and will be moving in next summer), but still can only afford condos or townhouses, and not even in my county. Have to go about thirty miles south where it's a bit more affordable. Single family homes are all out. And for context, I net about $60K/yr and live in New Jersey. Also property taxes are insane here.
Airlines. Ticket prices rising, leg room shrinking, cancellations and delays with no recourse becoming an almost every-time-I-fly experience, it’s all becoming quite infuriating.
Want to bring some clothes for the trip? That's an extra charge. Want a functional seat belt? That's another charge.....
TICKETMASTER SERVICE FEES!
Also, at least in the DC area, violent crimes by teenagers. It’s insane. Last year, a 12 year old and 14 year old killed an Uber eats driver and stole his car which they then immediately crashed. Lots of carjackings here. A lot of these kids are on the edge of their seat to start s**t too—they will sit in the metro and be extremely loud or knock into you multiple times waiting for you to say something so that they can then attack you. So no one says anything about their s**t behavior anymore for fear of severe injury or death. Amazing!
I think it's a consequence of many factors. We, as a consumer based economy, encourage spending - yet people see huge hit to their living standards. With youngsters everything is amplified - they don't see "bright future" and are living the day. I'm obviously not looking for excuses to such behavior but imho it will only get worse in coming years.
This is a problem in DC but this poster made it seem as if the whole city is just full of roaming bands of teenagers looking to rob or fight you. This is not the case. DC is still a pretty safe city to visit.
Amusement park prices, both admission and the prices inside the park. We went to Cedar Point last month. Tickets were $125, parking another $30. $16 for a funnel cake, $10/game, and it was literally $50 for 4 small frozen yogurts. Was bullsh**ting with one of the employees and mentioned the absurd prices, and she told me that she would have to work for 2 hours to afford one funnel cake. The prices are audacious on their own, but knowing that they aren’t even properly compensating their employees after all that price gouging is absolutely infuriating.
Err, so if it's so expensive why do you go? Did it really used to be cheaper, adjusted for inflation?
I’m guessing that some people like to go once in a while or take their kids too for a fun day. The prices don’t need to be that inflated for these places to make money.

The only Rollercoasters we had were the weather but we had a great time. @GreatWolfLodgeSandusky
It has been 15+ years, but Greentree Inn was great for us every visit. I believe it was the closest hotel to the park and featured an indoor swimming pool, a whirlpool, a bowling alley and a fitness center. Looked it up and see that room rates are still great, too. Our fondest memory was getting on a merry-go-round / carousel, not knowing it was a high speed one. We were the only ones on it and I think the operator really cranked it up, right after I said to my wife that it was really slow; I had to hang on for dear life with arms and legs. It never seemed as fast on subsequent visits. Though I'm still tickled that I won a friend a giant fuzzy "pimp" hat at a basketball game and later seeing a video of a famous basketball player (I think it was Lebron James) losing at the exact same game there.

Game companies thinking they can release a game bit by bit through DLC rather than just straight-up giving us the full product, a DLC is just supposed to be an extra add-on, the game should still be playable even without it but most AAA game companies would rather let us play 25% of a game and have us pay extra for the rest.

The size of chip bags in comparison to the amount of chips in the bag. Yay, I just spent $3.99 on a bag of air with some crumbs in the bottom.
For the last time, if not for that bag of air, you'd really just buy crumbs...
That's understandable. The problem is the bags are getting bigger the price is going up with less chips in the bag.
Load More Replies...Coming from a self-titled UWG-Grad_Student (I assume University of West Georgia, USA), that's a pretty ignorant, uninformed remark. It's not air, it's nitrogen to keep the chips fresh, and the trapped "air" makes sure the chips aren't crushed to crumbs when bags are stacked.
