Contemporary artists have discovered that street art is not only beautiful to look at, but that it can also be soft and smooth to the touch. Moss graffiti is eco-friendly as it doesn’t use any aerosols; what the “painting” needs is just a dash of water to thrive. Here is a recipe for how to make your own moss graffiti. Just bear in mind that choosing the right space for street art is very important too, as, in any case, vandalism is a crime.
To get started you’ll need:
3 cups of moss (washed, clean of soil)
2 cups of buttermilk or 2 cups of yogurt (should be plain yogurt)
2 cups of water or beer
1/2 tsp of sugar
corn syrup (optional)
a blender that you probably don’t want to use other than for this

Load More Replies...i think that in Finland we are living in police state everything odd, same as individual idea would have lot attention and hate. Seeding plants is one street art form but in police state love is banned only hate crimes succeed. I had idea about making statues from metal string and flowers grow along it and when you plant statue it would be grow many years and flowers would seed etc, but difficult is that everybody who are doing street art has lot of enemies, fans who are making art making almost impossible. Then is mainstream, everything has to go through byrocrazy, and graffiti painters also support byrocrazy here, have to ask from authorities before you do anything also co-operate whit police. It makes whole thing stupid, not inspiring, spontaneity where idea comes from, cleverness, what is common to street art is away- reporting here from finland. Here bad street art scene, capitalist etc. polices friends corrupted. Your idea is marvelous i would use it to my own property.

I wonder if I could spray that in my back yard and just have a blanket of moss?
I did this on a wooden fence and now there is a strong slug clean place where I painted my art - bo hoo
This won't work. There is an artist that does these, but she grows them on the ground, then cuts them into letter shapes ;) serch it up.
Will do this and carry it around in a container to "vandalize" everywhere I go.. ahaha
so u paint it on the wall , and then it starts growing .......? how long time does that take...... AMAZING idea <3
That kind of moss doesn't grow where I'm from. Is there something comparable that would grow in the heat of Florida?
Great, now I know what kind of front fence to have. One I can paint moss on.
Interesting and innovative thought, goes to show even things that appears worthless have their value.
AWESOME! I think I'm going to try this. I wish I was artistic enough to draw that bear or something. Maybe I can find a pattern or something
Martha Stewart does a version of this "moss slurry" to grow moss on the outside of terracotta pots and on garden statuary...must try!!!
None of these photos show a real moss-growing thing. If it's damp enough, it will already have moss. No moss=not the right conditions.
Cool, But why would I not want to use that blender again? It's called soap and water. lol~Z~
That's so cool and a great idea so it's eco-friendly art I hope a lot of people notice and take advantage of this new creation :3
I love the combo of green moss and letters... awesome idea. Let me get to a wall!
LOVE this so very much. Letters and green moss... Truly awesome as a combination... Let me have a wall...
A good diy to insulate a room or building from cold or Heat!!! must be amazing to watter your wall!!
what is the function of the buttermilk/yogurt - I'd like to replace it with a non-animal based ingredient. thanks a lot for any suggestions
What should I do to keep it green and nice? Should it be in shadow, moist?
