We got in touch with one of the artists whose work made it into our list of top relatable comics. We spoke with the creator of the series Samimations and learned a bit more about their work: “On Instagram, I started making comics readily during late 2019 but originally started drawing ever since I could talk. My father taught me how to draw and out of curiosity, I followed in his footsteps in painting and drawing. After that, I just kept watching his techniques. After a while, I discovered the internet, specifically YouTube, and all the creators it holds. I took inspiration from various YouTube animators and artists. And that brings us to this day.”

When asked about the fellow artists who have influenced the style of the series, the creator explained: “I wanted to make comics to both improve my art skills and still be able to share them with people and make them engage with my art. A couple of influences I can name include a YouTube animator named JaidenAnimations. Her character design is what I took inspiration from into drawing my style today.”

We were also curious about the creative process behind making the Samimations comics. Here’s what we found out: “The amount of time it takes to fully finish one comic usually depends on my general mood. It usually takes an hour or more to a day when I'm in a particularly happy and motivated mood. However, when I feel down and unmotivated, it can take weeks or even months.
I enjoy doing the line art! I invest a lot of time in the coloring of my drawings. Each frame must have a vibrant and lively feel to it, but not so vibrant that it might hurt people's eyes.”

Lastly, the illustrator shared that coming up with ideas for new strips can be challenging. They elaborated: “There are a lot of illustrators out there and it might seem that everything is already created. That is why, to be completely honest, I don't find it very easy to come up with new ideas. My ideas usually stem from memes I find while scrolling on Instagram, Google, Reddit, or Facebook.”

there's a saying that I've understood more as ive gotten older (40). If you are young and not a Democrat you have no heart, if you are old and not a Republican you have no brain. I went from being hardcore liberal to being hardcore socially liberal and fiscally Republican. There's a place in the middle, or probably a 3rd party, that makes sense but not the current ones.

When I was a kid, I stood behind my mom when she was talking to an unfamiliar person at our new apartment complex. Mom said, “Don’t mind Margaret, she’s just shy.” I indignantly replied, “I’m not shy, I’m just scared of people I don’t know!” Never completely lived that down…

Wasn’t attracted to anyone until my first relationship (23), and all my friends would see me get excited at a photo on my phone and be like “omg it’s finally happening” only for me to show them my phone and it was a picture of a dog

ah yep. that's me. 3 alarms to wake up for school. one at 5:30, that has the alarm name titled "FORREST THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE WAKE UP!!!" and blares "role playing game" by soramafuurasaka at full blast, one at 5:33 that is just a vibration and says "nintendo switch time yey", and then one last one at 6:35 that is set to play a voicemail from one of my friends, and the alarm is titled "for the last dang time, wake up". but who in gods name sets 6 alarms??
