I confess I wore a white dress to my sisters wedding 25 years ago. I was 22yo & her Bridesmaid. I honestly did not know only the bride is supposed to wear white... I rarely wear dresses & this one happened to look nice so I bought it without a second thought. NOBODY said anything, ever. It only came up years later when I read about what a huge faux pax it is. I was mortified & called my sister to apologise but she said she didn't know about the white dress thing either! Now, everytime I see the photos I think, why didn't someone tell me? 🙄😅

Unless you showed the dress to someone first, while at the wedding, it's a bit too late 😳 If I saw the bridesmaids wearing white though, I'd figure the bride was okay with it or had arranged it. If the bride is fine with it, you're all good 🙂

She didn't just wear white, that's a wedding dress! Seems she doesn't care whether she gets to see her grandchildren.

This actually more common than people think. It's passive aggressive behavior and the MIL is making everything about "her" instead of the bride and groom. It's mortifying when it occurs because usually it's the kind of like a "mommy dearest" situation and it seriously makes the MIL appear mentally unstable 😐

It is unbelievable that it has become such a thing for either the MOG or a stepmother to wear not just white, but a full-on wedding gown to their kid's wedding. It's not the "take that" you think it is, you tacky cows. Everyone is laughing at how insecure and pathetic you are.

I would not have chosen red because now she matches the groom. But maybe that was their color scheme..?

You can see in the background a lady sitting down who’s also in red so I guess it was the theme or something.

This is great. You could announce that anyone wearing white will be photosopped to chatreuse, infection yellow, prison stripe or some other horrible colour of your choosing and only for the photos to be posted online.

Ultra props to the photographer! But.. Honestly... White or red.... Darling.... Honey..... WHAT SEAMSTRESS LET YOU WALK OUT OF HER SHOP WITH THIS? It doesn't suit you at all 😱 the frill on the bodice makes your chest look shorter which in turn propel your whole proportion into the uncanny valley and put all the attention to your belly (I'm not fat shaming here! Just saying this particular dress isn't flattering)

The photo with the white dress is what she actually wore to her son’s wedding. The one with the red dress is the SAME PHOTO, just with the color of the dress changed by the photographer, because the mother of the groom shouldn’t be wearing a wedding dress at her son’s wedding.

This is strange bc it’s obviously the same woman (blonde hair, nails, jewelry, post, hand hold, etc., and the exact same photo by looking at folks in background. Looks like they made the tall girl white dress pic red and smaller. There’s no way this is a photographer edit!

Great idea if you want your wedding to smell like pee.

thatsitimweddingshaming Report

Anna and Sarah, team leaders at The Wedding Society spoke to Bored Panda about unruly and rude guests, and how to manage them. In short, it’s important to let go of the idea that weddings can be ‘perfect’: some things will go wrong no matter what. So it’s vital to be able to adapt and not take any minor flaws in the plan personally.

“Some people just want to watch the world burn, and as hosts to an event, it's just something that wedding couples will have to accept,” Anna and Sarah explained to us that the happy couple has to be realistic about the fact that not everyone will be well-behaved and polite on this happy occasion. No matter how much we might want them to.

Herbalife as a wedding theme? If I were invited to this wedding, I would walk out

thatsitimweddingshaming Report

“Not everyone is going to fall in line, especially your anarchist uncle Jerry with the overgrown beard. That said, try to fall back on your vendor support system as leverage,” the experts pointed out that the marrying couple shouldn’t have to do everything themselves. They can’t worry about every tiny detail or mishap. They should turn to the venue’s staff to help them handle all the issues.

“Simply saying, ‘The venue has rules’ or, ‘Our caterers have agreed to only..’" is an easy way to take the blame off yourself but still enforce hard rules,” the wedding expert shared how couples can shut down some bad behavior among guests. It’s a way to misdirect some of the havoc-wreakers’ negative emotions elsewhere.
