There are always people who think they deserve more than everybody else. They constantly ask for a discount, try to gorge on more freebies than they can carry, never tip, and always try to get things for free. And there’s a specially dedicated place for them called “Choosing Beggars,” a 2.2M-strong subreddit that collects the most hilariously embarrassing cases.
And you may think that Thanksgiving, a national holiday which essentially encapsulates the word and the meaning giving, would stop them. Well, not really. Apparently, the festivity may as well serve as a perfect opportunity to have all its perks without putting in all the effort or losing a dime.
So this time we collected some of the most crazy examples of beggars in action: Thanksgiving edition. After you’re done, be sure to check out our previous posts with people whose ego and entitlement is too big for this tiny world here, here and here.

“Volunteer To Wait On My Family At Thanksgiving”
Great. She can do the same for me when I need my 5 indoor kitties fed, watered and poopy-scooped twice a day for a week while I'm at my family reunion. Oh, wait. Where'd she go?
Invite Us To Your Thanksgiving! But Only If You Have These Things And We Will Only Bring Dessert. Tia
This Thanksgiving may have been the most expensive one for the host so far. How come? Well, it turns out that agricultural economists, farmers and grocery executives predicted that nearly every component of the traditional American Thanksgiving dinner, from the disposable aluminum turkey roasting pan to the coffee and pie, come at a higher price this year.
Interestingly, last year, the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 was the lowest it had been since 2010, the American Farm Bureau reported. So what on earth has happened? Turns out that last year, during the height of the pandemic, everyone was laying low with celebrations, and very few people were buying groceries for big gatherings. Grocery sellers were keeping the prices of the Thanksgiving staple—turkey—pretty low to attract the shoppers.

But after the global vaccination, the world has opened up and big gatherings resumed as if they had never stopped. So did the demand for turkey and other foods, whose prices have been soaring rapidly this past year.
The New York Times suggests that we shouldn’t look for a single culprit to explain the phenomenon. According to them, the nation’s food supply has been battered by a knotted supply chain, high transportation expenses, labor shortages, trade policies and bad weather. Inflation is at play, too.
A Thanksgiving Choosing Beggar Who Thinks Meals Should Be Free
I don't see a problem with this? If she's no takers, then no one with $15 is interested. But I bet there are people that can swing for that amount that can't or don't want to cook their own dinner. She's not expecting homeless people to buy it.

Numbers also speak for themselves. The Consumer Price Index for food was up 4.6 percent from a year ago in September, while the prices for meat, poultry, fish and eggs soared a whopping 10.5 percent. For those wondering what’s up with the sky-high turkey prices, it may have to do with the fact that the price of corn, which most commercial turkeys feed on, more than doubled in some parts of the country from July 2020 to July 2021.
The Department of Agriculture turkey report released on Friday has also stated that whole frozen birds already cost 25 cents/pound more than they did a year ago. With much bigger holiday celebrations than last year, the demand for festive foods is likely not going anywhere, so there’s a slim chance you’ll get your hands on a turkey bargain.

Appalled By The Community Food Bank For Asking Her For Donations, And Also Not Giving Her A Free Turkey Dinner For The Holidays
As someone who has relied on food banks many times, I honestly can understand her disappointment. There was one food bank in a town I used to live in that gave all the meat and eggs to friends and family until they were reported. It’s a shame that (if this is true) this might also be the case with her food bank. It’s also quite surprising that there were no turkeys given out for the holiday, literally every food bank that I’ve used on the holiday gives out a turkey or chicken (for those of us without a full sized freezer/fridge). I don’t think this entitlement as much as surprise and disappointment. But bitching about being asked to donate is entitled. Where does she think that meat comes from? Meat fairies?
The foodbank in my old town would put all the really good meat in the very back and take if for themselves all the "volunteers" were old money who probably had over a hundreds bucks in their wallet at one time, so I can honestly understand her frustration, but you are right,,, like, how does she think they GET the meat?

Nah. I happen to stumble on her reviews while looking for food banks in my city. When you read them you realize that this is more misdirected anger and frustration at the system of government and local assistance more than anything. She has limited mobility and no car, but a lot (if not all) of the food banks near her don’t deliver and the public transportation system in my area is doo-doo water (to say it kindly). This also means that the better food banks that would give her more balanced food are virtually inaccessible to her because they are in completely different cities or districts. She’s applied for assistance in the community but she’s put on these long wait lists or random lotteries with 100s of other people who are also scrambling for the same things so it takes a long time, but she needs the help NOW… do I think she should have a shitty attitude about it, no, but this screenshot is missing a lot of context unfortunately.

You know you're an asshole when not only are you a choosing beggar you have to shoehorn in a disability or whatever to garner sympathy.
If we ignore the massive sense of entitlement (and the atrocious spelling and grammar) for a minute, this person isn't entirely wrong regarding the quality of food you often find at food banks. Much, if not most of it, is well past its "use by" date. Still, beggars can't be choosers.
Why do so many of these read like those facebook challenges where you're using intuitive text to make a message?
Damn, I stumbled on this woman’s reviews not even a few months back when I was looking for a local food bank. She’s left dozens of reviews on food banks, community centers, and churches criticizing their service. Some of what she said was valid, because apparently she has limited mobility, no car, seems to live alone and is having a hard time finding places that could offer free food as well as deliver to her place of residence, not to mention she seemed to be a senior in her 50s or 60s… more often than not she just left scathing reviews for things that you can’t really control like, “they didn’t answer my calls” - 1 star, or “this place is too far” - 1 star and I think that was more her venting about the broken system than anything. I understand the frustration because she needs the help now, and she seemed to be on long waiting lists for government assistance (she’s an over sharer about her life) but the way she’s leaving these reviews make her look bitter and don’t help her case.
I only understood about 40% of the message. Enough to feel the entitlement.
Why does it seem like the people complaining about this stuff also seem retarded? None of them can even put together a proper sentence
Don't use the "R" word. It's not polite. Developmentally Disabled, Learning Disabled, Mentally Handicapped, and of those are fine, but the "R" word isn't use diagnostically anymore, and it shouldn't be used by anyone because it's derogatory.

I came here expecting gold and free cars and a Turkey, and all I got was LEFTOVERS. You ruined my children's lives with your shitty charity. For shame (It's sarcasm but that was still painful to even write!)
Leftovers and reposts! Just terrible, I tell you. This post has just ruined my poor, hermaphroditic, conjoined childrens' last Thanksgiving, because they are dieing of gangrenous hemmeroids, cancer of the hair follicles and super AIDS. I was just thinking this. It was never this bad, before 2000 ish? Not sure. But how did it get so bad? People don't get their way, and they won't budge. Or if someone won't give in, that person is automatically selfish and the cause of problems where others suffer. I really am curious as to why this is so bad. Sure, some people were never told 'no'. Some people just don't stand up to these people, so their behavior is basically enabled. But why else? If this wasn't a big issue before, how and why is it so bad? I want to understand what happened. (Sorry for the rant)

I'm so glad my country doesn't have any thanksgiving-like holiday, even christmas with just parents and one of my sisters is a bit chaotic.. Couldn't imagine whole family x.x

I can't imagine the scale of Thanksgiving in the US. Can you not just... miss one year if you can't afford it? Does it have to be a gigantic meal with turkey and trimmings? Can't you just get together with family over a few beers, or just chill at home?
Dodo, I agree. For my family (me, my husband and son), we spend a relaxed day at home and never have the huge turkey dinner that seems traditional. It seems a dubious holiday, at best. We spend a moment sharing what each of us is grateful for. That seems a better way to spend the day.

Wow, just wow. We don’t have Thanksgiving here, but just like Christmas, isn’t the company you have more important than the food? Yeah, it’s nice to have a fancy meal, but it’s not the be all and end all of an occasion. We have extended family Christmas and we take turns hosting it, but everyone pitches in and brings food or drinks. Honestly, I wouldn’t care if it was eating bread and butter as long as I was with those I loved
These people are very messed up in the head, surely they have a lot of mental and emotional problems and obviously we not raised right. Sounds awful to be them. They probably don't even understand why no one wants to be around them. Many probably only think of themselves because they've been in survival mode all their life. And done of them might literally be sociopaths, there's that too. But honestly I just feel bad for them.
When did it become something to be proud of that you are a beggar? I was raised that you should be happy/ proud when you can help others less fortunate. And if you are on the needing end, you ask quietly and work your ass off to get out of that situation. I still find the thought of bankruptcy humiliating ( it equals failure).
I can't truly grasp the audacity in these people. If you can call them that. When someone extends kindness, either accept with gratitude or decline with grace. Never ever believe others owe it to you. If growing up poor has thought me anything, it's okay to be lacking in material things as long as your dignity is in tact.
Most of this list was just Board Panda and Pandas shaming poor people and non native speakers. Really disappointed and disgusting right now.
it DEFINITELY does. It's just a lot more public and focused in America.
