If you've never heard of Tank Sinatra, the creator behind the Instagram powerhouse “Tank's Good News,” chances are you've been living on the Moon. Tank, whose real name is George Resch, is a prolific content creator who gained millions of followers on Instagram through meme creation and reposting hilarious content. "Tank's Good News" is one of Resch's projects where he only focuses on re-sharing positive, uplifting media to the general public. It turns out that Resch's own personal story helped serve as a kind of inspiration for the account.

Let’s All Tell Her Congratulations
Resch told Elite Daily that he struggled with sobriety more than a decade ago, before getting completely sober at the age of twenty-two. Now being thirty-eight, Resch recalls: "I would be frustrated that I wasn't positive, but I wasn't looking for anything to be positive [about], so it was a vicious downward cycle where I was unhappy and I looked for things to justify my unhappiness. When I got sober, I thought doing that would kill me. So, I felt like I needed to be positive to survive."
In 2017, Resch created Tank's Good News, the hugely successful project that stems from his frustration with the negativity of current news. “CNN, Fox... they've made a business out of creating a visceral reaction out of people but that reaction is fear, anxiety and negativity," he explained. He didn’t know there was a market for good news, yet said he knew “if I could make people feel good, they would come back."

The huge popularity of Tank's Good News reflects not only its creator's but our shared fatigue with what’s happening on the screens and media. The worst scenarios are bombarding us every day and it’s only fair we get fed up with it. To find out more about it, what this negative exposure does to our mental wellbeing and how can we be more resilient to it, we spoke with Dr. Lise Deguire, a clinical psychologist and author of award-winning memoir “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor.”
Dr. Lise said that indeed many people report that their mood is negatively affected by the news. “Of course, the news itself tends to focus on negative occurrences. For example, the news will report on the terrible car accident that happened. They will not, of course, report on the thousands of people that safely drove that day. (Safe, happy occurrences are not usually considered news.) But, because the news focuses so much on negative events, it can make us feel that only bad things are happening in the world,” she explained.
The clinical psychologist added that the news often focuses on events that make us fearful, “because when we are afraid, we tend to think we need to keep watching the news.”

Mistaken Love Is Still Love
When asked what are psychological benefits to reducing the time you spend on social media and watching TV, Dr. Lise said that when her clients report anxiety, sadness or anger about the news, she often encourages them to limit their news/social media exposure. “Most of us can stay informed through a quick read of the headlines. Having the news on in the background, or checking Twitter all day, often distresses people because the news almost always focuses on scary negative events and ignores positive ones,” she explained.

Her name is Nzambi Matee. I feel like black women are often not given the credit they deserve and I feel like it is an oversight to write about her accomplishments and not name her.
That is an absolutely amazing accomplishment. I can't even imagine how many people will benefit from this and she looks so young.
Load More Replies...And they isn't this used everywhere yet? We need this badly. This is two birds with one stone (or brick). Smart smart lady.
I love this, but I also have to admit I'm dyslexic and I read this first time as "solved Kayne west's problems" and I thought God well done you that really is a feat on engineering!
She is very talented but she's not a miracle worker.
Load More Replies...This should be law across the planet, to stop the lies about recycling. Less than 15% of plastic is actually recycled. Instead of cutting down trees, turn the bottles into these bricks and build low cost housing and other structures.
Not everyone builds their houses from wood... most don't as far as I know, but yes.
Load More Replies...The whole world could use that. Everyone's waste would be put to good use
I absolutely love that they simply said "An engineer has solved" and didn't feel the need to qualify it as "A female engineer has solved".
While I do applaud her ingenuity, I've seen a video about this. Her and her employees are a melting this stuff down and breathing in the toxic fumes all day everyday. They don't have any type of respirators or anything. Plastic heated enough is highly toxic
Her video is on YouTube. The problem like alaqysbis the scale. They can do great work on a small scale But you need huge infrastructure to reach the rest
Such an important accomplishment in a world where plastic waste fills the oceans to the size of massive islands and now 100% of seabirds in areas surveyed have plastic in their gutter. Should be top.
Great idea. I love plastic, when it is used right, it is lightweight and durable. It is the use once then discard that gives problems.
Bomb! I thot they were suit cased or something except whats in her hands!
Wow! That's a wonderful invention. I hope she's applied for a patent
This is so fabulous. It's crazy that this hasn't become a thing sooner in the highly developed nations--and that just tells you what a racket the construction industry is. We still use highly degradable and easily damaged building materials when we could TWOFER it by incorporating recycled plastic materials like this into building--which would also make dwellings easier to upkeep, more resilient to natural disaster, AND help the environment. Instead, up to 95% of the plastics that are recycled in America alone end up in landfills all over the world! They don't actually recycle most of it because it's not cost effective.
Nobel peace prize. You're making a good difference in this horrible world.
Etsy! Here she comes! We need some she sheds built! Even if one would order enough for just a window trim.
That's awesome! So pretty 😍I have always wondered why we don't turn plastic waste into logs or something else that can be useful.
Kenya soled their entire waste problem, but The US is still floundering about over "Should we pollute everyone's drinking water so we can get more oil?".
OK, (rest of planet it applies to), step up to the plate and get on the bandwagon.
All of her social media and websites are turned off. Can't find any info on this. Shame because we were interested in buying sone for a paving project.
Me too, I was thinking maybe on Etsy, for a small project
Load More Replies...I know I know, money isn’t everything, but with this idea she could make enough money to feed the world. This is the future man
I could see these being useful in the building of temporary structures. Pro: waterproof. Con: not fireproof
I saw her on tv! Don’t remember the program but I think it was Inside Edition or a news show.
The most amazing things come from those with nothing. Africa has some phenomenal people.
I was reading a similar article on this several years ago where they wanted to do this in the States. They were going to used the recycled plastic in X by X slabs. Then when part of the road needs repairing, they would just replace the specific slab and not need to rip up the whole road.
I was reading up on the plastic bricks - pros and cons. One of the major disadvantages is it can't be heavily load-bearing or it warps. Maybe they had a different type of plastic they were considering?

The good news is that we can all learn to become more positive and resilient to negativity. “One way is to learn who or what makes us feel good, and who or what makes us feel bad. For example, my mood usually improves when I listen to music or go outside. My mood usually goes downhill when I stop exercising. All of us have activities that lift us up or bring us down.”
Dr. Lise also said that the more aware we can be, the better choices we can make. “Does it help you to dance? Write? Call a friend? Take a bath? See if you can figure out what is in your positivity 'toolbox,'" she suggested.

That's espacially sad cause most big stores would accept to prep your groceries in advance and put them in your trunk. Especially if you need help like by being elderly in a pandemic. I feel them though, it is hard to think through during such panick. I just hope they found a more reliable way to safely buy their groceries.

I helped my mum look after my dad throughout his illness. I did all the heavy and hard stuff she couldn’t do that he would worry about - the garden, cleaning the car, shopping, diy, you name it I did it. There are lots of photos of that time - dad and mum, dad and my brother, dad and his grandchildren but I don’t have a single photo of me with my dad; I was always the one taking the pictures, capturing the memories for everyone else.i will have to try this, I miss him everyday.

Story Time
One time I saw two young, black, females checking out at the grocery store (I’ll explain why I used these three descriptors later on in the caption). They had all of their groceries rang up and in bags already, when it came time to pay, they ran the debit card. It got declined, once, then twice. One sister looked at the other worriedly. I keyed in immediately. They tried another card, denied, once then twice. Then they pulled out the EBT card. I assumed they didn’t want to pull this out because of how some people look at people who use EBT cards (shame on THEM, not you). There wasn’t enough on it to cover the bill. They looked at each other with tears in their eyes and shrugged, half “Oh well”, half “Oh my god, what are we gonna do?”. I stepped in immediately and said “Please let me help you”. I mentioned they were young black and female because I’m an older white male, and I know that sometimes help can be seen as an act of pity, which in my case it was not at all. I wasn’t insinuating they couldn’t take care of themselves, I was just a human being watching two other human beings struggle. They seemed shocked but allowed me to help. We parted ways, but as God would have it, we wound up parked right next to each other. They were still sitting there because they were crying. Their mother had just died. They didn’t know how they were going to eat that night, or any of the following nights. I forgot the girls name, but we briefly connected on here. If you see this, please send me a dm to let me know how you and your sister are doing. Sorry for the long caption but this video hit me hard.

Man, why do I read posts like this. I am pregnant, therefore I cry when I,for example, see nice flower and this caused waterfalls.
I remember when I was pregnant crying at credit card commercials. I feel you! Keep some emergency tissues on you at all times. ❤️

This article brings tears to my eyes, warmth to my heart and hope to my soul! I loved each and every story. Kindness and compassion should never be taken for granted.
I've been emotional the past few days and thought I would be laughing and smiling from these posts... so wrong. I cried my eyes out with a few smiles here and there. But at least it is tears from positivity rather than the stress of life.
I needed this today. Thank you Liucija for putting this thread together.
I am dying of breast ca. One of the hardest things for me is worrying about leaving my 3 children and 2 grandchildren behind in what seems like a sad and unkind world. Thank you for relieving my worry and knowing that there will still be good and kind people for them out there when I am gone 😢😢😢😢
Love the rabbit's little studio apartment! We had a rabbit as a pet when I was around 14, and he was the best pet. He and our little dog, about the same size as the rabbit (small dog) would stay in the rabbit's cage together when we all had to go out for a few hours; Dog had no problems toileting through the bottom of the cage, and he and Rabbit would play together, eat together, and nap together. I remember them both very well, even though that was nearly 60 years ago.
Idk why but I cried a little more at each one. Thank you for this
imagine calling an entire country of people vile & then implying that you're part of the group of people being kind.
