When Twitter user Ash shared a pic of a friend's cat, she probably didn't think it would go viral. However, the black kitty who got its front legs shaved for surgery was precisely what the Internet needed. Ash's tweet went viral and as of this article, it has over 470K likes.
The best part, however, is the replies. Other people whose cats are in a similar predicament started responding with their photos as well. From losing their pants to getting their out-of-shape bellies exposed, most of the shots are less than flattering, too. Something tells me the felines are already plotting a revenge plan to get back at the people spreading their photos.

Here comes my Vet Nurse here, again. THE ONLY REASON TO SHAVE A CATS PAWS LIKE THIS IS TO DO A DECLAW. SHAME ON THIS PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upon receiving more information, this I am assuming is not an American cat (where it is still legal to declaw) and the shave job done is just really weird, never seen a shave job like this for anything other than a declaw surgery.

I hope they didn't declaw their cats. (Declawing removes the entire first joint and causes pain and arthritis)

I JUST noticed another cat off to the right - with the exact same shave. Pretty sure now this IS a declaw job 😾 Hope the owner gets exactly what they deserve. Pain and suffering for the rest of their lives - just like their cats.

I hope this was not for a declaw but it looks like it might of been. If so, barbaric! Vets need to stop doing this to these poor animals!

hi i have to ask a question and i dont know where else to ask it where people will give me answers so im gonna ask it right here. what do i do when my friends start making fun of me because im growing up faster than them, not like puberty wise but my interests and things i wanna do are different. like i dont really wanna ply make believe games anymore but they do, and now their saying i dont ever want to do anything that they do becuase now it's boring to me. they make fun of me for being on my phone and wanting to watch more grown up movies and shows, and talking about internet things. and wearing ripped jeans and crop tops and stuff because i like those clothes and they keep on calling me a screenie becuase i want to do screen related things like even if i wanna take a video or try an internet challenge. they keep on saying they want the "old me" back but i just want to do different things??? anyway what am i supposed to do?

According to Dr. Marci Koski, a certified feline behavior and training consultant, cats dislike going to the vet for a lot of reasons. "First off, cats are creatures of habit, and they have typically not been trained to enjoy car rides or going to new places," Koski told Bored Panda, acknowledging that sometimes there are exceptions.
"Cats are used to hanging out in their home or on their property (if allowed outside), and when they are snatched out of their familiar environment, shoved into a box, loaded into a car, bounced around, then brought into a vet office with lots of new smells and sounds of dogs barking and cats meowing, their fear and anxiety level skyrockets."

To make a trip to the vet less stressful, Natalie Cady Bishop of Cat Behavior Solved advises to get the critters acclimated to their carrier first. "You can do this by keeping the carrier out in the main area of your house," Cady Bishop told Bored Panda. "Many owners keep the carrier in the garage and only bring it out when they have to try to put their cat in it to take them somewhere. The cat then associates the carrier with scary experiences. Keep the carrier open (and if the top opens, keep that opened as well)."
Put your cat's bedding in the carrier, too. The scent is very important to these animals. You can also add their favorite toys or catnip inside. If your cat likes to hang out and even naps in the carrier, award it with treats. From time to time, you can even close the door of the carrier as well, following with more treats!
"When the cat is used to that, try taking her out to the car and going around the block - teach her that not all car rides end at the vet's office!" Dr. Koski added. "When you're in the car, Feliway spray (sprayed on a blanket in the carrier) can really help, as can soft music. Make sure the temperature of the car is comfortable before putting your cat in, too."
If at any point your pet shows fear or stress, take a step back and go even slower.
"Finally, there are many cat-only veterinary clinics; there may be some in your area," Dr. Koski pointed out. "These vets know how to create a calm and soothing waiting area (no barking dogs!), and know how to gently handle cats. Bring the surface and treats that you've previously used at home with your cat's treatment station, and your cat will have a sense of familiarity about the process and the environment since there will be familiar smells, tastes, and textures. Apollo made it through 3 weeks at the hospital and a surgery after somehow catching tonsillitis. The beast is finally back to his usual self.

As hilarious as some of these pictures are, it needs to be said that the only reason to shave a cats fur is medical! Please do not shave your cat without recommendation from your vet - not because you think she's too warm and especially not because you think a lion cut is cute! Cats regulate their body temperature through their fur, and losing part of it will make them feel very vulnerable and confused.

I think it depends on the cat too, my long haired cat loves to be shaved in the summer and gets excited when the buzzer sound turns on. He gets overheated with all the fur on hot days. After he is shaved you can see the mood change and hes able to run around more freely. My short hair cat however hates it, doesn't get over heated, so I don't trim his hair.

Shaving a cat's leg and leaving "socks" is for IVs and such. Shaving the entire paw to the elbow or knee, that's for a declaw surgery. Some of these people are deplorable, ignorant a******s

Yes. Declawing should be illegal worldwide. There is no reason (beneficial to the cat) to declaw a cat. Just carefully trim their nails if you're that worried about your precious furniture.

My kitty got her belly shaved for surgery about a year ago... she's still bald because she keeps licking that area!

Get her a t-shirt so the skin stops being aggitated. It's a vicious circle and can lead to infections if she starts scratching too.

They're sedated when they're shaved. Unless it's just for an IV. If I tried that on one of our cats, I'd be the one going to Urgent Care 😸

my poor little Oscar, with his vet lion-cut - he's no longer with me but I tried to give him the best home for as long as he had - he was abandoned, heavily matted with dental and heart issues ... but he is forever in my heart oscar-2019...853677.jpg

My cat has a spot where the fur is shorter because she had to have her yearly teeth cleaning at the vet. She always looks at it like "What is this? Why is this hair gone?" Then looks at me like "What did you do this time?"

A tomcat wondered into my one man auto repair years ago and was a wreck! After a month of food & rest I noticed he was covered with small pieces of matted fur. One of the mats looked like it was torn from his body. After a few days it was torn further from the skin and just hanging down so I cut if off. A week later, same thing, so I cut that one off too. After a month I realized the cat was tearing (or pulling) his fur off of his body, then he would come by and have me cut off what was hanging down. Finally, we had removed all his body hair (fur). He still had fur on his legs, tail, yeah, and head, but nothing on his body, what a sight! Thank goodness it was summertime.

A cat should be able to groom himself, and if he If can't because of his long fur, then there's somethng wrong with the breeders! It's cruel to breed an aminal that can' take care of itself.

Add lazy to the nix. I had two cats with matted fur. (I was in the hospital/rehab for a month, and the idiots got out.) The shorthair had an incipient mat on his back that I got with a comb, but the long hair has mats on her a*s that are going to need a groomer--or I pull them out, which is painful. Not much of a choice...

My cat used to purposely give himself a Brazilian. Although I know there was an underlying reason why he used to do it, it was amusing to say the least.

anyone seeing $$$$ signs at all this too....the vet is so spendy but our cat babies are worth it!

Depends. Vets go to school - tuition bills. And set up practices that use the same medical equipment that human doctors use. Some ARE all about the $$$$, but many are just trying to help animals as best they can. Our vet does a lot of charity work for those who can't afford it.
