“He Called Him The Hard R”: Sub Teacher Who Knocked Out Student Receives Support Amid Racial Slur

Two people learned a lesson. The kid learned that using racially slurs, especially the N word, will eventually lead to you laying unconscious on the ground with your face all over the internet. The now-former teacher learned to not beat up a minor, as he is in jail facing felony charges, may go to prison, and won't ever work a job requiring a clean record again.

Wait - so this site censors every word you can think of. Murder, kill, d**g, weed, and make you use nonsense like "unalive", but then posts a violent video? This makes no sense.

Whether the student deserved it or not, the fact is that a teacher struck a student, hard enough to knock them down. As a grown man, the teacher should know better than the react violently, ESPECIALLY against a minor. He will likely never teach again in this district and now have a criminal record because he didn't just drag this kid to the principal's office.

I am almost always against violence. However, this kid clearly was not parented correctly!!! Bet he keeps his racist filth to himself from now on!!

Classic case of ESH. Can't condone slurs, but also can't condone violence from an authority figure (whether they're a minor or not, really). The fact that he's a minor makes it even worse for sure though. The kid certainly should have paid consequences, and he did have some massive natural consequences here, but the teacher needn't to have faced consequences as well. He was the victim, and he created another victim with his actions.

What does "hard R" mean. The headline says he called the teacher the hard R word but then said he said the N word but what is the hard R word? This doesn't make sense.

The teacher's response to the slur was immature, and justified termination. However, I can't help but wonder if the little shìt will see this incident as a feather in his cap. "Hey, I got a teacher fired; who's next?" Unless the administration steps up and corral these out-of-control brats, the next altercation might involve not fisticuffs, but a firearm.

The teacher had no right to act upon the student with violence. Doing so violates the student's unalienable rights, such as his right to property which encompasses all the things you own down to your own body and health. The infringement of unalienable rights of another could not be tolerated unless the second person has actively infringed upon the rights of the first, and in that case, violence would be an acceptable, just act in self-defense. However, in this example, the teacher's actions are highly irrational and not a decision out of self defense to protect his individual rights and property. Instead, it is out of emotion, such as anger. Even though the student called the teacher racist slurs, he has not infringed upon the teacher's rights. I am not saying what the student has done is okay, I am saying that the student's actions never deserved an act of violence from an adult. This is a view on this issue as objective as possible with support from the original Constitution.

Anyone who thinks the sub was justified is nuts. He will likely get a felony conviction and a custodial sentence. He’s also unemployable. Kids will say things to make teachers and staff angry. They’ve won when they get a reaction and boy, this guy gave the kid a reaction. All the awful teachers you remember from school? They are the ones who couldn’t control their emotions and reactions. The ones with control are able to discipline kids much more effectively.

Some are assuming he punched the kid because he was called a slur. I think he punched the kid because he tried to be a little bad a// in front of his homies and the teacher wasn’t having it. Bottom line, if a so called child doesnt want to get hit, then he or she had better not raise his or her hand to an adult or anyone else. I would rather this teacher fight back than sit there and get hit like the teacher a couple of weeks ago. Students attacking teachers should be unacceptable. Kick this kid out and make him get a GED, if he can.

I saw the ENTIRE video and it didn't look anything like this account at all. What I saw was a white student aggressively going after another student when the teacher intervened to stop him. That prompted out-of-control student to attack the teacher instead. The teacher responded the way he did to protect the other students from the maniac. Good for him, pin a medal on his chest.

That’s a full grown man fighting a child because he called you a word?? Suspend him, give him detention but you certainly don’t fight him. If the kid gets violent, you be the adult and walk away and get security.

The kid shouldn't have called the teacher racial slurs or any other bad names. He should be at the very least suspended, but he was fighting as well and most schools have zero tolerance when it comes to fighting. He might be expelled. The teacher is old enough to have known better. He shouldn't have responded with violence, regardless of who threw the first punch. As much as the words angered him he should have remained calm and sent the kid to detention if that's still a thing. The teacher should have talked to the principal or something. He just ruined his career. I don't think any school district will hire him with that arrest on his record even if the charges are dropped (unlikely).

You will seldom see a high school student who doesn't need to be knocked on his a*s.

For those thinking self defence, it isn't. He struck the pupil while they were on the ground and posing no risk. And as a teacher, at least in the UK, you can't defend yourself by using violence. I've worked with many pupils who works say horrible things and no matter what, you can't resort to violence. If threatened, you can use physical restrain but have to be able to justify why you did. Sorry to say it, but for this teacher, his time working with pupils is over.

I'm so glad to hear that all forms of violence is unacceptable. This means bother physical violence, AND *verbal violence*.

First question: who threw the first punch? Also: why the emphasis on "white" student? The kid looks Hispanic, which technically is largely white, but yeah, the news story hits different when it's between two minorities, and the author/editor knows this or else they wouldn't put "white." Also, I just have to add: teachers absolutely have the right to defend themselves, and EVEN if this teacher crossed a line in the conduct of the fight, if that kid threw the first punch, he should never be allowed in a daytime, normal-admission program again. (Note on ethnicity: it's hard to be certain from skin color, but if this kid isn't Hispanic, he's gone through great lengths to blend in with Clark County's Hispanic majority.)

Dude is 17 not 7. My 7 year old knows that some words aren't to be said unless you want to suffer the consequences of saying said word. Seems like people need to stop defending bad behavior from these "kids". They will never learn and continue to do and say what they want until a hero (like this teacher) steps up. WE ARE TIRED OF YALL SHT!
