Some men do like to think that they know women better than they do themselves. Call it asshole syndrome or whatever, really, it doesn’t change how shockingly dumb some of their theories about women really are.
Like, women’s unnatural hair colors are warning signals to stay away, or that periods are telling you to hurry up and get pregnant. And while I'd like to know what kind of bad science fiction books they’re reading, this subreddit r/NotHowGirlsWork gives them a proper treatment in what they deserve: being put in their place and told to cut their BS statements!

Every time I went in, the doc got the regular speculum and every time I told him to use the small one because it simply doesn't fit and every time he tried it anyway, until after 10 minutes of painful probing he had to admit it didn't fit, and got the small one. I now have a new doctor and no way he is ever allowed to 'just try it' with the regular one. Never in all that time did he 'hit a spot that makes me moan'. IT HURT! I don't find that sexually arousing.

Yet I bet if she made a reference to him moaning during a Sigmoidoscopy(a camera up the rear) he would complain, I'm not a woman so I've not had to visit a gyno but I have had a Sigmoidoscopy and whilst it didn't hurt I did find the whole thing very uncomfortable.

Definitely not comfortable. Just curious where do women need to get a pap smear or internal examine annually. Unless you are high risk. Also why do you need to see an actual specialist for your pap smears? Most women where I live, just go to their GP clinic and see a Dr or Nurse there. A nurse at my GP clinic does them and I get my results from the Dr in the same clinic a few days later. The gyno is for more serious issues that the GP can't help with, if there is an issue with the test results or during pregnancy and recovery.

In Germany, a yearly check up is generally recommended. And since you do not have to pay for the standards (only if you want additional scans) I don't think that it is for the money. I must assume that it is still cheaper for the health insurances to pay for the regular check ups and detect cancer early on than having to pay for cancer treatment in later stages.

I find it odd that so many women claim it's painful. Might wanna check on that, specially if it's as bad as a root canal. Although, if your root canal is painful you might want to ask your dentist to apply anaesthesia 1st. Anyway, the cervical smear and yearly Gyno visits are not pleasant, that's for sure. Also, speculum do not hit the G-spot (just in case some ignorant misogynist decides to jump on the not painful).

What was the education these people enjoyed?Could I be right in assuming there's a lot of homeschooling involved? To be honest it isn't only men who are ignorant. Read a post (probably on BP) about a girl who gave birth in hospital asking the nurse when the doctor would pierce her nipples so she could breastfeed...

The ages of these guys is probably all over the place, from 13 to who knows. Education wise, hmm - in the U.S., they're probably a result of the "no child left behind" program introduced back in 2001. It was intended to help disadvantaged students but in reality just meant that all students were passed on to the next grade/level of education without actual proof that they had truly learned anything.

I have a theory that our toxic competitive social structure helps to create this issue. People are like this because they are incapable of self reflection and assuming blame for their own short comings. But why are so many of us so bad at self reflection? I think it is because we are made to be hyper competitive as soon as we start school. Admitting any sort of flaw makes you less desirable and less competitive, but being incapable of self reflection and self improvement makes your value dramatically decrease. Insecurity and fear of personal flaws seems to be the underlining cause of half of these posts.

And all the over-scheduling of our kids! From the time they wake up til they go to bed - go to school all day, then soccer/football/swimming/piano/dance/gymnastics/whatever, all while eating fast food in the car between practice/lessons/games & trying to do homework...no down time, no peaceful family dinners, no 'alone' time, no relaxing with a good book. It's sad.
