A few days ago, the US government finally announced the second round of stimulus checks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As it turns out, the $900-billion economic relief package will most likely include $600 stimulus checks that will be received by most Americans. Needless to say, the news about the total of the stimulus check money left many folks disappointed, since it's half the amount people received in the spring.

Man, this brings back memories. Awkward, uncomfortable, walking up to strangers' doors memories.
I'm not saying it's enough to pay all my bills. I'm also not saying I'll say no if it shows up in my mailbox.
I was just wondering about it. Is crust really that awful that people have to cut it away? I get those heels, they're hard, but just the edges? It can't be that bad? The crust on bread in my country is probably the best thing about it, especially on freshly baked one. It's so crispy
Ikr, that's less than what a person would get for their birthday (comment cover up, just scroll on please)
That would've been a better investment than $600, so no, they couldn't have.
irony is that this scene includes grogoo using the force to lift the cookies to himself
The irony is that if the US hadn't been so negligent in building a proper welfare system, they wouldn't have to spend trillions of dollars now on useless stimulus checks that won't even cover the rent. They are handing out glasses of water to people that are drowning.
Other nations have programs that have allowed their economies to remain relatively stable, by doing what? Compensating for wages lost to Covid, so peopel can 1. buy and 2. sell and therefore 3. stay in business which 4. keeps people employed! See how that works? ....
Hmmm...I am not sure what to think of this...here in Hungary, nobody got a single penny of financial help...so while I totally understand that $600 is not a huge amount over there, it's still something. At least one can put food on the table or this amount might cover the rent. I was taught not to complain about something you get for free.
Paul Krugman was right: we don't need "stimulus checks", we need "disaster relief"!
Between insurance, police brutality, stimulus checks, etc....American government doesn't give a crap about its people. Without people who will fight the wars, keep economy going, etc? C'mon, government, treat your people better. It's like a job - treat your employees well and they will stay.
It took the IRS 9 months to send me the 1st one. They kept sending it to the wrong address. Multiple phone calls over 9 months finally got me someone who was a competent employee to send it to the right address. Now I have to wait another 9 months for $600? F**k this s**t.
i still don´t see, why people who are forced "not to work" are not paid, but rents have to be paid, where houses already exist. XD
According to Yahoonews, Trump wanted to give us all $2000, but was told not suggest it because it would interfere with negotiations between the parties....
You guys know that the stimulus check isn't supposed to replace your income, right? They're hoping you spend it so the economy becomes, you know, stimulated.
We have a saying here in Germany: "Too much to die, too little to live." That's what this stimulus looks like.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I understood that ALL American citizens got those stimulus cheques, no matter where they are. For example, Americans living in Europe and earning good salaries also got it. Why not prioritise to help those who are actually in need?
So everybody take your stimulus check and donate it to the government since you all don't think it'll help you
