While most people can barely watch horror films like Paranormal Activity without going into a full-blown breakdown, aka putting all the lights on in the house and not being able to sleep for days straight, some people like the thrill of it. They sleep like babies, never flinch and have the guts for the scariest things.
If you’re one of them, the two notoriously bone-chilling corners of Reddit known as the subreddits “Weird” and “Oddly Terrifying” must ring a bell to you. The latter one is home to 2M members who enjoy watching all the oddly terrifying content posted there.
So thanks to them, today, we have a great selection of terrifying photographs that prove a single shot on camera can be worthy of thousands of nightmares. Get ready to roll up in your blanket like a burrito (trust me, it helps!) and enjoy the list at your own risk.

It's A No For Me
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night only to see two gentlemen on the wall appreciating your sleeping beauty.
Bored Panda reached out to S. Elizabeth, writer and creator of the “Unquiet Things” blog, as well as the author of “The Art of the Occult: A Sourcebook For The Modern Mystic”. She has been interested in scary things that freak others out ever since she was 5 years old. “I saw a Dracula on an episode of Scooby Doo. I’d never even heard of vampires before, let alone seen one, and learning that there were blood-thirsty creatures who hover outside your home, just awaiting an invitation inside so they could poke their fangs through your neck and drink you up like a platelet-flavored Capri Sun scared me so badly that I’ve never been the same since.”
But at some point in her childhood, S. Elizabeth realized her panic and fright regarding the bloodsuckers and monsters from outer space had turned into fascination. “Whereas I would once hide my face behind a pillow when something scary was happening, I now began to feel the itchy urge to peek.” As she grew older, S. Elizabeth said that her fascination with fearsome things turned into a full-blown obsession. “From literature and film, to music and art, from that time forward, I was hungry for all things unearthly and strange, ghastly and ghostly, gruesome and grotesque,” she said.

Great, just another Australian thing to keep me up at night! How do you people live in terror? 😱
Last Thing A Fish Sees In Antartica
S. Elizabeth argues that there are things people are deeply fearful of now that they were many hundreds of years ago. “No doubt they will strike fear into the hearts of future generations. Death and loss and aging, war and sickness and disease. Fear of the unknown!”
Having said that, she believes that the details change with the times. “Maybe those fears take different shapes, but until we figure out how to stop the aging process and become immortal (like those vampires!), unless we get a handle on our violent human tendencies, unless as a people we learn to become more compassionate and empathetic—none of those things are going to change, and those fears will continue to plague us in some form or another.”

S. Elizabeth also explained: “maybe it seems like we’re more scared now than we ever were, what with our smart phones and a million apps with a million social media accounts bombarding us with all of the horrors of the modern world, 24 hours a day. As a lifelong horror enthusiast (and someone who is afraid of a lot of things, like A LOT), I feel that I’m not too far off.”

The Girl Cursed With The Inability To Feel Physical Pain. She Rarely Eats Or Sleeps Because Of Her Inability To Feel Hunger Or Tiredness
That's sad. The few with this disorder can legit break bones or burn themselves and not notice. As much as I think I would like to live without pain No thank you
Also wouldn't know if they had appendicitis or other life threatening conditions.
Load More Replies...It may sound like a dream to some but there are just waaaay too many risks that come with it. I do not envy her or her parents, would be difficult to manage. The life expectancy for someone who doesn't feel pain is younger than 25 and that doesn't include the issues with not feeling hunger or the need to sleep.
Not feeling pain occurs in some other cases, and that always leads to problems. Like your body doesn't tell you how to most efficiently move your legs & pose your feet, so they keep getting all kinds of breaks and cracks and heal up badly. Imagine you roll your ankle, but instead of you letting it rest you immediately continue on it... from toddler onwards. The combined heap of injuries and bad healing is very limiting. But it doesn't hurt.
Load More Replies...The poor thing probably won't live very long. We feel pain for a reason. :(
Imagine parenting this girl - especially as a toddler! It's amazing the managed to keep her alive for this long.
Load More Replies...I watched a program on this many years ago. A different girl that had this condition got something in her eye once. Since she couldn't feel pain, she scratched it so much she had to get her eye removed.
I saw that show. Ironically it was whilst I was in the middle of having all of my surgeries. At first I was all, oh yeah no pain... that would be awesome! Then the poor thing has her eye removed for just a minor thing and I noped right out.
Load More Replies...Where do I sign up to donate my chromosome 6? Lol. At age 50, with rheumatoid arthritis and menopause, I have too much pain, too much fatigue, and food addiction (like, I have to eat EVERY DAY).
Does said inability extend to mental pain? coz that'd be great...
Pain is a great motivator. Without it, simple injuries can become life threatening because they aren't noticed and treated.
Not only that but not knowing when you would need the bathroom. No feeling the urge.
I went to uni with a girl who had this issue. She had to set a timer on her watch or she would forget to go to the bathroom and risk peeing herself because she couldn't feel if her bladder was full.
There was a woman in Montreal who could not feel pain. She died after infection set in from kneeling on a hot-water radiator and receiving extensive burns. Pain is necessary.
Anyone remember that Dr. House episode with the girl who could not feel pain and in the end it turned out that she had a tapeworm (?). During the surgery she was awake and watching it get pulled out.
Or the Twilight Zone episode about the girl who felt no pain?
Load More Replies...I know someone with a neural issue who doesn't feel pain. He's a wrestler.
She was fine because she didn't tense up so she could bend without breaking as many bones, also why drunk drivers survive incidents a lot
I can't imagine the challenges of raising a child with this condition. It must be almost impossible without constant full time help. No way a child could be supervised every second of every day without it.
Physical pain, as opposed to emotional/mental pain, is actually crucial to our individual survival as it tells us when we are injured such that we minimise injury (think pulling away from a hot pan or touching something sharp) and allow time for injuries to heal. The same effect is seen with diabetes related neuropathy where the individual can have gaping wounds on their feet and be completely unaware of their presence
Pain is essential to survival. It's a signal that something needs attention.
How ghastly! Pain is nature's way of warning us not to do that dumb thing ever again!
Pain and these other sensitivities are so important to life. I went to dinner at a friend's house, and when the host brought the dinner in, she told us to mind our fingers cos the plates were hot. One man said he could hold a hot plate, and everyone was really impressed. Later I learnt he had no sensation in his fingertips, so actually he should be really careful.
I have this, I learnt it after a routine check up with my doctor, I DESTROYED the airways in my nose, I never felt it.
I have a cousin that suffers from this condition, while I DOUBT their is much connection between pain and empathy, I do have to note the last time I saw this cousin, he attempted to drown my kid brother in a pool, and currently, that cousin is serving a life sentence for multiple murder. My guess is, he likely was a psychopath, but it just so happened his condition overshadowed his mental illness.
Poor girl!! Lack of hunger and sleep that this condition has on people along with the fact that she an't feel pain. I feel sad for her...
I would trade with her!! I’m 67 years old and I broke my back when I was 18 in the Army during Vietnam!! I literally have not had a day without pain since 1973!! And that’s including with major drugs I’ve had in the past such as morphine, darvon, codien, Hydrocodone, you name it!!! It may take the edge off, but it doesn’t kill the pain!!! Try 49 years of excruciating pain sometime!!! It’s fun, let me tell you!!!
This is actually very sad. As she gets older she will probably face major diffuculties taking care of herself.
Wait if she can't feel hunger she wouldn't know if she was starving. This sounds horrible
I read many years ago about siblings (one boy, around 4, and one younger girl, about 2) who had that defection. They often enjoyed themselves by him jumping very hard on his sister's ribcage and they both just laughed😱 Their parents had their hands full with making sure they didn't hurt each other lethally!
I never knew that fear was directly related to sleep! Very interesting
But she had only minor injuries so.....not feeling pain might have been appropriate in this one single example they gave.

Just because Zoomers have attention spans measured in nanoseconds doesn't mean the rest of us do.
