If you've recently spent time on planet Earth, chances are that you’re no stranger to the soaring prices of, well, just about anything. These spikes are topping our expectations and pushing the already soaring U.S. inflation to extreme levels. According to the Labor Department, the May consumer price index (CPI), which measures cost changes in food, gas, housing, and many other goods and services, rose 8.6 percent over the last 12 months. That’s the highest it’s been since 1981. And we, the general folk, are definitely feeling the pressure.

While inflation is biting hard, our paychecks don’t go as far as they used to. It begins to feel almost impossible to afford to be a person these days, and people are having a hard time making ends meet. Looking for a way to vent, they wasted no time sharing their discoveries with everyone online.

We at Bored Panda have scoured the web and picked out some of the most painfully alarming examples of how inflation has been going wild. Continue scrolling, upvote the pictures that deeply resonated with your inner frustrations, and be sure to weigh in on the topic in the comments! If you’re in the mood for some similar price-gouging madness, check out our recent piece about shrinkflation right over here.

Simple. Because most of the overhead is paying shareholders and the top brass. If they need to make 1000 low level grunts starve to put a new Bentley in the garage of the CEO that's what they'll do.

Self checkouts makes profits go up because there are less outgoings for employees. Proof that "trickle down economics" is a lie. Paying employees as little as possible, even if it sends them into poverty is the true purpose of the economic lie. Equality is the biggest lie.

I wouldn't be surprised that buying, maintaining and updating and replacing self checkouts is more expensive than using human clerks, even at a "living" wage.

It's not exactly true. Inflation goes up and down. I got a 3.2% raise this year, just like the last 2. If inflation is negative, no one offers to take a pay cut. Ok average, inflation over a very long period is like 2% or so. So any consistent raise higher than that is a raise regardless of the actual rate that year. Having said that, minimum wage should be $20 and health care should be free, and anyone who has to go in person should have time and a half for hazard pay from March 2020 until this all ends.!

When has inflation ever gone down? A 3.2 raise pales in comparison to raises of past decades. If you didn't get a cost of living raise along with that merit raise, you got a demotion.

That price has nothing to do with inflation and everything to do with US patents on drugs with no US regulations on price gouging.

    View more comments

Inflation has been driving the prices of grocery staples, home goods, beauty products, gas, services, and pretty much everywhere people spend their money. So naturally, it is making more and more Americans change their shopping habits. And the people affected by this most? Low-income families that are feeling the income and wealth inequality deepen to alarming levels.

According to Rachel Siegel and Andrew Van Dam, reporters at The Washington Post, price hikes are particularly devastating to households with already tight budgets. The main reason for this is that the majority of their expenses go to necessary everyday items such as food, energy, and housing — things that have seen some of the largest increases over the past year.

"Of the 10 categories with the highest levels of pandemic inflation analyzed by The Washington Post, lower earners spent a greater share of their total spending on most of them, from natural gas to beef," they wrote, adding that the highest earners outspent the lowest on cars and furniture.

You would trust Karl Marx (nearly universally rejected by Academia) over the actual great economists Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Milton Friedman, Frederic Bastiat, George Stigler, Friedrich Hayek, Ludwig von Mises, Frank Knight, and Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk? Do you understand how much Marx is criticized in the economic world, by actually skilled economists and statisticians? Here's a Friedrich Hayek quote that perfectly encapsulates mainstream criticism of Socialism: "If socialists understood economics, they wouldn't be socialists."

It's hardly a surprise that right-wing economists dislike socialists. But you can hardly claim that they represent the near-totality of academia. One could list just as many left-leaning economists who in turn reject Hayek.

Mark could be right but the person writing the message probably isnt. It seems not to comprehend the whole process. From the this 8,80, a third to a half is taxes. The rest is set to pay from the person planting the beer ingredients to the power that kept the beer cold and the rent to keep the bar open. This person contribution to generate this 8.80 was to spend 5 minutes between hearing the order to delivering back to the table walking no more than 10 metres. Why does the person feels underpaid in this case?

Karl Marx was right about nothing. People who say that are people who want a good life without being willing to educate themselves, work hard, and put in the time. Nothing is free, and the price of Marxism in the USSR was 80 years of misery and murder. The price in China is the rise of a fascist big brother state with the CCP. Karl Marx was right about nothing. Those who believe otherwise are fools.

You are broke man! How do u even earn Negative money anyways???

Wealthier Americans won’t feel as affected by inflation because of their spending habits: "They spend more of their budget on retirement accounts, mortgages and investments, and less on the necessities, such as energy or groceries, that are squeezing budgets around the country." Moreover, they have stronger protections shielding them against increasing prices. They already own homes, have substantial retirement savings, and their investments will probably outpace inflation in the long run.

You know things are bad when people have to steal food because they can't afford it. How on God's green earth do people think it's normal or ok to deny humans actual food all because they don't have or earn enough money? Everyone has to eat to stay alive and continue to fuel themselves so they can continue to work as hard as they do. There's plenty of food for all of us, yet somehow we've been convinced that folks should go hungry if they don't or can't back it up with money. Placing a condition on eating is extremely inhumane and wrong. Why can't people understand that? It's not like people are out here trying to take advantage of food and get over. They just want to have a full belly and eat FFS! We already kill ourselves working and barely get to enjoy our existence. Just imagine also having to come to the realization that you will be denied the very thing you need to keep going. All because money is desired more over you being able to eat and feed your family. Just let that sink in and know that no one should be put in that situation to begin with. Not when we have so much food that gets wasted as it is. They'd rather deny you actual food and throw it away than see it go to someone for free. That's how you know our entire m system is intentionally choosing to hurt us while constantly convincing everyone that this is normal or it has to be like this. No it does not and no it should not ever be something any of us have to struggle with. If you think differently than I'm afraid you are one of those people that has been made to think it's just another day at the office and all of this atrocious treatment going on is normal. I can firmly tell you, you are wrong.

Yeah, you can see the original price is 6.39 and marked down to 5.19. Besides, it's Little Debbie snacks. People are always complaining the junk food costs less than healthy food, but once they see junk food inflate all hell breaks loose.

Teacher here-- US teachers pay out of pocket for most non-essentials like snacks, prizes, and decor because education is wildly underfunded and teachers care so much for the kids. Our administration discourages us from doing so but also barely keeps up with supplying printer paper and pencils so we do it anyway

What's sad about that sentence is that you're a teacher on food stamps. You should be paid enough so that you aren't reliant on state assistance. No wonder no one wants to be a teacher anymore- you have to have a degree to teach (sometimes Masters level), you have to worry about school shooters and you can't even make a decent living. Jeezus

I really feel for teachers. My son's teachers are always asking for donations, and I do what I can, but feel it's never enough. The class gets a snack every afternoon, and parents are supposed to send a snack to school for their child, but many do not, and teachers want all the kids to be able to have a snack so they ask for donations. They must not get many because they are always asking.

So, unfortunately, lower-income workers usually feel only the negative side of inflation. "Their rent goes up. Their heating oil prices go up. Their grocery bills go up. And there’s no room for higher prices in their already stretched budgets. Plus, with stimulus benefits and child-tax credit payments long gone, many have exhausted their financial cushions."

Xavier Jaravel, a London School of Economics professor stated that for low-income Americans, a small change in disposable income is very difficult to cope with. "Every bit of additional inflation just reduces purchasing power," he added. "If you have a large income, which often goes with the fact that you’re saving a lot, then losing some of your purchasing power is not a big cost."

I used to buy a box of 60 eggs for $4.88 at Walmart. They are now $14.88 and I can no longer afford them. These comments do not have to raise prices at all. In fact they could lower prices and still maintain the generational wealth they already have. They continuously make millions if not billions every year already. It's like these companies think we are stupid and don't realize that we are all living in a world where we make the rules and are already provided with everything all humans need to carry on until we die. There's plenty of resources and people to maintain it all. So there's no reason to be greedy and use money as a tool to control all those resources and turn everyone else's living situation into a constant struggle for those resources. Because it's not the money that we so desperately need, it's all the resources that is meant for us all to use, that we need. So don't be fooled about what's going on. When we don't have or earn enough money. What we are being denied is not money, it is the very thing all humans have to have to live and have a reasonable quality of life. Food, water, housing, healthcare, and any other basic need is what we are being deprived of during our stay here on earth. To do that to people is not only inhumane and wrong. It is a violation of our humanity and dignity and it's not right. This is not how it's supposed to be and I for one am tired of the lies, greed, indignity, manipulation, control, and being made to think our basic human rights are somehow luxuries or privileges and we aren't supposed to have a decent comfortable life. While the rest of them live a life of extreme luxury and have more than what they could ever want year after year day after day. Yet the simple existence most of us work hard for and deserve is not doable? That's what you call trickery taking advantage of people and capitalising off of a planet full of resources and people and that is exactly what's happening to all of us. People just don't want to believe the truth of it all. Our life is already hard enough, processing that truth is a lot to mentally and emotionally digest.

A few years ago, I read where Walmart earns (gross) approximately USD $53,000,000.00/hour worldwide. With overhead, I guess-timate their net is approximately USD $29,000,000.00/hour worldwide. They still don't pay their employees a living wage & one has to be employed forever to obtain insurance. Such a human travesty when the Walton's have SOO F*****G MUCH. I'm all for capitalism when humanity is part of the equation. I care about the people who work at my local Walmart but I ABHOR the store & the Walton's for that.

LOL It took some people a bit of time to get used to it and accept you might pay a very slightly different price depending on how you pay. Some people took up a big issue about getting ripped off. Knowing how heated Americans can get over the smallest change it would be interesting to see how Americans would react. It will just be some time until the nickel is phased out, too. But I can't see that being for a while. It's still useful for things like our odd bus fare rates and ...... our odd bus fare rates.

Fear of losing our hard-earned savings makes us want to stockpile goods and let emotions overtake our decisions. And as it turns out, doing so can only make matters worse. As Michael Finke, a professor of wealth management at The American College of Financial Services, told NBC News, "People tend to have a rational response to gains but an emotional response to loss."

He explained that loss is processed in the limbic, otherwise known as the emotional part of our brain, and gains register in the prefrontal cortex, where cognitive behavior is processed.

To be fair drinks you can only find in the speciality import section have always been much more expensive than the price you'd pay in the original county. Stuff like Reeses Cereal for example has always been like 5x the price of similar sugary cereal produced in this country.

We have the .99c cans here in Canada but they honor the price on the can. Likely another case of difference in currency and the coverup is to avoid confusion.

"When inflation is bad and people expect it to continue or get worse, they generally tend to not save money and try to buy durable goods before the price rises," George Loewenstein, professor of economics and psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, added. He continued by explaining that people are rushing to get products that are not frequently replaced, "to the extent that doing that increases demand relative to supply — that can exacerbate inflation" and can become "a self-reinforcing cycle."

Whatever the price they're selling the clothes it's not worth what the manufacturers in Bangladesh are going through to make them for less than $1 a day.

Where I live, the store is required by law to give the article for free if the announded price is less than $10 and a rebate of $10 on the correct price it the article is over $10. So, that T-shirt would cost $4.99 plus all applicable taxes. And that picture of Little Debbie cakes with the masked price? That would be illegal here.

Things only have value because we say they do. It's as simple as that. Everything could be worth a dollar if we wanted it to be. Because everything we already need as far as resources is on this planet the day each of us is born. Everything we have created and built came to be because of us humans doing it. Money is not what's valuable, people are. We don't need money, we need the resources and they're already here for us all to thrive. We have made everything up as we go over time. It's quite insane to me that we have made a system that doesn't benefit all of us. So we all enjoy everything our kind has created over the years. Things could be good and all of us could be enjoying our time here. Unfortunately people put a stop to it being that way and that is extremely sad.

On special doesn't necessarily mean cheaper, just "special".

While we patiently wait for inflation to level off, there are a few things to consider to make our lives a tad easier. Jay Zigmont, a certified financial planner, explained that "you may have been able to just make it before without a budget, but with inflation, a budget becomes a must." And while the first month will be rough, and you may get things wrong at first, he suggested to keep on trying.

According to him, it takes three to six months to make budgeting part of your life, and he advised budgeting based on "musts, shoulds, coulds, and won’ts." Musts include things we can’t live without — housing, utilities, insurance, and transportation. After you take care of your musts, you can move on to shoulds, things like debt, investing and saving. "If you are in debt," Zigmont added, "you may not have money left over for your coulds."

This is standard Airbnb. I was looking for a place for a week, checked Airbnb. It was dearer than a hotel but I liked the idea of having a kitchen to cook in. Then, I get to the page shown above....! Hotel it is (also cheaper eating out than staying Airbnb with kitchen).

Yeah I think they are about to learn a hard lesson about greed and poor business practices. Apparently people buying affordable housing up for Airbnb has made housing costs rise in areas. With how they are doing things now, it's not a sustainable business.

Air BNB used to be cheaper than a hotel. Some landlords figured out if they got rid of one tenant and put it on Ari BNB, they could make more (thus one of the factors starting the housing shortage). Now, tons of landlords are doing this and they aren't making the money they used to by renting it out to a tenant. So what do they do? Find ways to raise prices. And they will keep doing this, so long as they get one person to use AirBNB, they think more will come. They won't. The parable of the Golden Goose applies here as well as simple supply and demand economics...which they obviously don't understand.

Not quite. US Gallons are smaller than UK Gallons (3.79 litres versus 4.54), and using Googles exchange rate, that works out at $8.78/USG vs $10.55/UKG. Still means that it is cheaper in California than it is in the UK by quite some margin, and that margin is all tax!

If it makes you feel better current UK prices of petrol are equivalent to US$18.80 a gallon (£1.99/litre) and national minimum wage is £9.50 if you are over 23 (minimum wage is less if you are under 23) so a small 40L tank costs 8.4 hours work IF you didn't pay income tax. Closer to 10 hours work after tax

If you know when to go, my grocery store used to offer deep deep discounts on produce on Wednesday nights, before the new shipment arrives on Thursday. They actually have a special rack, all the way in the back where you can load up. They would make up large bags of mixed produce for five bucks. It might be worth it to ask the produce manager when new shipments arrive, and shop the night before.

It's true- two good beef steaks cost some $$. So do tuna steaks. If I may, you can save a lot of money by buying a whole chicken, in contrast to buying a pack of boneless skinless chicken breasts. This poster just needs a better way to choose products at the grocery store.

Exactly. I left the grocery store a few weeks back with a full cart for $140. The answer isn't to buy less of premium goods. It's to buy goods and make them premium yourself. Learning good cooking is step #1.

Yeah...this is some pricey stuff. Chicken drumsticks or better yet, leg quarters (cut the leg and thigh apart) are cheaper than breast. Tuna steaks are pretty costly. Blueberries and strawberries are expensive here, especially when not in season (cheaper at local farm stands).

If it's a critical need like fuel, baby formula, necessary medications, etc. then it's gouging. Hipster coffee milk isn't any of these. The cost of everything that goes into this product has increased therefore its price has to rise. The last thing the producers of discretionary products want to do is raise prices since it will definitely mean fewer units being sold. Perhaps we need to start teaching basic economics so people will know who to blame for record inflation.

Of course, think about asking for a raise. "In today’s job market, employers are eager to retain employees, and keeping them happy is the best way to do that," Bert Bean, the CEO of national staffing company Insight Global, explained. And remember, with inflation reaching record heights, not getting a raise is nearly equivalent to receiving a pay cut. So if your employer is not willing to offer a pay bump, consider making a career switch or picking up a side hustle whenever you have the time.

Yes because of the avian influenza outbreaks. But the price of feed has gone up a lot too. The days of chicken being a cheap meat are coming to an end.

I remember in the early 80s (before anyone ever heard of buffalo wings) they were selling for 25¢ a pound. Then they became popular and the price shot up.

My ex husband just had a new baby and our oldest daughter (17) was absolutely stunned at the price of formula and came home telling me about it, my youngest is 5 but I hadnt bought any formula since literally taking my oldest home from hospital since I figured it was best to have it just in case. I joked with her that people think you breastfeed because you feel superior etc but I did it since it was free - which frankly is actually kinda true, I saved a fortune over the years, I've had 4 kids, I dread to think how much formula would have cost for them all. On top of that the stress of these shortages must be horrible, I can't imagine the worry of whether you'll be able to get the one thing your child needs to eat

We had to do that in Australia because we had a HUGE issue with Chinese personal shoppers stock piling them and sending them overseas. Got so bad that the shops had to put a limit on how many cans of formula you can buy coz shops were getting stripped bare leaving parents desperate.

Mothers love their babies above all else and are always trying to do their best for them. I just wish that breast feeding was properly promoted and supported, because it is *free*. Forget all this 'breast is best' nonsense (which makes it sound like organic baby food, an option for the select few), breast milk is free, heating it up is free, there's no need to sterilise or even clean anything, so that's all free. But who's making a profit if all mothers breast feed??? (if the argument is 'not all mothers can breast feed and you're making them feel guilty', just bear in mind that there are countries where the bf rate is 98 or even 99%. So nearly all mothers can *with the right support*, and which industry is bringing up the word 'guilty'???)

    Amy Taylor

I was unable to breast feed and had plenty of support. I just wasn't producing enough milk and tortured myself for the first few months of my daughter's life. She was dropping weight rapidly and pretty miserable. And yes.... I was shamed for it saying I "didn't try hard enough" among other things. Oh.. and I got a double masts on top of it, and she had latching issues. I feel so badly for the mothers right now going through the formula shortage.

That's not inflation related, though. The price climbing is due to a string of supply-chain issues, market monopolization and competition curbing aided by FTC's lack of oversight, production slowed down due to Covid pandemic leading to a slump in availability and most importantly a nationwide recall from one of the only three major US producers due to bacterial contamination stemming from terrible plant sanitation procedures.

Agreed. I can get a pound of black beans for $1.25 or a bag of vital wheat gluten for $6 that'll make pounds of high protein (and delicious) seitan. Soybeans are about $2.50 a pound and just a single cup will make a brick of tofu, plus you'll still have the okara to use for baked goods, "crab" cakes, or to add to your seitan dough. Inflation is out of control but it's still possible to eat cheaply with a little effort.

The use of the air machine is free. There's usually a button to get the free air, or you have to ask the attendant to turn it on for you. However, to use the fancy machine with the air gauge with auto shutoff when it gets to the desired air pressure, it costs money. $2 is quite cheap for that. Most places do $2.5+

There's another factor here: climate change. Many of the fruits we have become used to buying relatively cheap are now expensive because of a shortened growing season. Yesterday I wanted to buy some cherries, which at this time of year are usually plentiful and affordable. One store had cherries for $22.00 a pound! I did some research, and it turns out that the bizarre weather in the Pacific Northwest, the largest producer of stone fruit in the US, destroyed 9/10s of the crop.

To be fair "ride share" apps have been subsidizing the fares to get people used to using it. Like drug dealers getting you hooked by giving you the first one free. They haven't turned a profit since they started. It's still cheaper than a DUI, though.

If we don't notice it's because feeling like we're getting a bargain is more important to us than the actual maths. In which case the business is selling us what we want. Annoying for those that do rely on how many bags are in a box though, and breaks my heart that it is Yorkshire Tea pulling this stunt.

I switched to the double edged safety razor a year ago and saved a lot of money. The razor cost me $30 and the replacement blades cost $25 for 100. Each blade has 4-5 shaves for each side of the blade. And it's a closer and better shave. I'll NEVER use a cartridge razor again.

Fun fact: when King Gillete started his company, he envisioned a product that could replace the straight razors that needed to be professionally sharpened. For decades, knife makers wanted to make the edge last longer, and Gillete succeded by making the product so cheap that it did not matter having to replace razor blades... So I started using my late grandfather's safety razor a couple of years ago. Best shave I've ever got, zero rashes and almost no waste.

Relying on servers to actually tip out their back of house support means they often don't get tipped out at all. I'd say this is only okay if it doesn't go to the servers-who are already tipped. The tipping system here in the US is BS. Only tipping the person who walked your meal from the kitchen to your table is ridiculous.

Free-range, another USDA term, means that the eggs come from hens that have some sort of access to the outdoors. However, it doesn’t mean that the hens actually go outdoors, or that the outdoor space is more than a small, fenced-in area; it simply implies that a door exists that a farmer could at some point open. But hey, if you want to spend the money to get a warm fuzzy then you do you.

it's misleading. the cost of petrol (gas) in Australia [this is a suburb in Sydney] is given in this odd format. Read $1.98 [really 97.9] for unleaded and apply the same rule down. That's for a litre. One US gallon = 3.78 litres. That's about $7.48 AUD a gallon or $US 5.18. YES, i'm a very bored panda today and bamboo tastes good.

If this is Australia, then that is very cheap fuel compared to prices in the UK and Europe. According to Google the exchange rate for AUD to GBP is 1.77, but those prices are almost the same as the current pump prices in the UK. In fact it took me a moment to realise it WASN'T the UK.

$4.59 in South Carolina. Every single gas station charging the same. I guess every separate gas company owner woke up this morning and independently decided $4.59 would be the right price to charge.

My Mate Showed Me The Menu Pricing For A Fancy Japanese Restaurant And The Footnote Says

My Mate Showed Me The Menu Pricing For A Fancy Japanese Restaurant And The Footnote Says

Service charge of 5% on weekdays & Saturdays, 10% on Sundays, 15% on public holidays applies

Doesn’t this violates Consumer Affairs’ “single price requirement”? Since the price you see is not the price you pay?

Why wouldn’t the restaurant just increase the menu price by 5% overall and charge 5% Sunday and 10% on public holidays?

That restaurant is in Melbourne Australia. I'm not sure of the legality, but Dominos does that in Aus too, adds a surcharge for public holidays. My guess is they get away with it as its a "Service Charge" and not part of the meal cost.

Apparently it's legal in Aus, as long as it's written somewhere it'll be seen by the consumer before entering into a 'transaction'.

They do this in Aus because people working Sundays and public holidays get paid more (penalty rates) so businesses try to regain some of their losses for the extra costs they get for being open those days.

Exactly. I don’t agree with the weekend charge and most places don’t tack it on as it’s their busiest days anyway. Anyone working a public holiday in Aus are paid double time.

Australia is AWFUL for this. They add on extra charges if it’s a weekend and/or public holiday. Plus extra service charges if you have over so many people. Plus extra charges for paying with any kind of card (you know this was handy as COVID *required* card payment only). You end up with these tacked on to the end of the bill. It’s a joke, especially when Australians often brag to US about not having to pay tips. We pay extras here that amount to the same thing.

    Alethia Nyx

This is perfectly legal as long as the writing is the same size as the price on the menu, which it looks. In Australia, where this is, the businesses have to pay staff weekend and public holiday penalty rates, so charging these fees helps cover that cost to businesses. It's perfectly reasonable. And not as dumb as Americans not including taxes in their prices. For this business to have it written priced with the service fee would require them to have four menus printed, which would cost money, and also expose them to potential staff errors of having accidentally giving the wrong menu. Much easier to do it this way.

Parabolic? Doesn’t that mean the prices will come down just as fast? Do you mean exponentially? It’s been a while since I’ve done that kind of maths so I’m happy to be corrected

    Jason Derleth

A parabola is x^2, so it’s exponential and always positive. Gravity works things in parabolas, so when it’s coming down it’s -x^2. It’s really the same thing, but usually when a mathematician says exponentially it means even faster than parabolic.

For those saying it's not inflation. Since 1987 inflation has rose ~157%. That means things cost 2.5 times more than in 1987. Inflation is always a thing. It's just usually never more than 2-3% a year. All because capitalism requires growth in order to make it work.

Fruit and veg are still fairly cheap in Scotland by comparison, I keep saying I'm going to go to the greengrocers rather than the supermarket but I've yet to actually do it, but that would be even cheaper still.

Hubby filled up his tank last week, it wasn't empty, maybe had 1/4 left, cost 100 bucks. The tank isn't even that big. My sister had the same car a few years ago (we bought it from her), told me she never paid that much to fill it. We bought a nice new(ish) car just in time for us to not afford to drive it everyday.

Yup, that's about right! FYI, PUBLIX is a grocery store chain in the States, based in Lakeland, FL. Traditionally, they've been a bit more upscale than other local grocery stores.

Remember this is also the uk so it's in sterling not dollars. So 198 is actually 247.5 dollars multiply by 4.546 equals over $11 a gallon.

Don’t want to sound an electric mobility fanboy, but a full charge of my smart costs 5€ in the most expensive payment recharging spot - several are free but you must go off peak hours to find them free. Rent of a smart costs way less of an average monthly expenses in gas.

I believe the contents and the can size are the same, just the label is fancy claiming 25ml extra. 275+25 is 300ml as usual. Just fancy marketing if the price is the same.

Why would anyone pay that? There's no way a fresh apple costs anywhere near that much. For children's lunch boxes there are fresh fruit that do well in a little pot, such as blueberries, grapes, or satsuma segments. Even a large bag of dried apple rings shouldn't be anywhere near that sort of price. Dried apple is usually one of the cheapest dried fruits. (I get the point of the post was just hunting around to find the most expensive thing)
