50 Paintings By Kamalky Laureano That Are So Incredibly Detailed, You Might Confuse Them With Photos
It takes a special gift to be able to paint artwork with such precision that viewers start second-guessing their eyesight. Kamalky Laureano is undoubtedly one of those utterly talented artists whose beautiful paintings are easily confused with real high-resolution photographs. This Mexico City-based artist from the Dominican Republic puts so much attention into details, like freckles, pores, and skin texture that it’s hard to believe it’s, in fact, paint on canvas. It feels as if you can actually see the countless hours spent perfecting the work, dedication, and exceptional talent imprinted into his realistic paintings.
“I like to create intricate drawings, controlled explosions of matter shaped until I'm happy.” – says 35-year-old artist on his Instagram page, which has now attracted almost 80k followers and counting. But what really makes Kamalky’s work stand out is his ability to portray the genuine emotion in his portrait paintings which results in incredibly soulful finished artworks.
Look through some of Kamalky’s unique artworks and don’t let the hyperrealism trick your mind.

You say this is an artist and not a photographer??? Whaaaaaaaaaat. Insane.
The amount of detail on all of these photos, the eyes, lips, and hair is incredible. It blows me away to see someone take all this time to draw and paint these.
she has this angry determination in her eyes... and the reflection is well detailed...
Yep if you soon right in you can confirm it’s a painting as you can see the hair is painted. It’s all about attention to detail and talent
Load More Replies...Talent. Years of practice. Learning to 'see'. It's not rocket science.
Load More Replies...He is absolutely amazing. He captures such realism you expect the painting to breathe!
All of the subjects in these paintings appear to have horrific skin. I understand the hyperrealism aspect, but I find this extent to be unfortunate.
I agree it's a little exaggerated on the detail
Load More Replies...This reminds me of something, yet I can't quite put my finger on it...
They are paintings. Focus on the hair and you will see they are painted. Skins easy to do in comparison to hair
Load More Replies...it looks like a child taking in the first winter snow (minus the snow of course)
...Pablo Picasso? Anyhow, this painting is beautiful. The artist has such talent!!
Zoom in on the nose, the little fuzzy hairs on the nose! Wow! Talk about detail!
That’s what makes it come together. Without each of those details, the images lose their focus and begin to look like paintings instead of the desired photograph effect.
Load More Replies...It might be mud or clay. There are tribes who use mud to paint faces for certain ceremonies.
Load More Replies...the backround looks real to! are we SURE they aren't photos???
I think they took a picture of the painting and the muse together...?
Load More Replies...Me in bed at 10:00 realizing there was homework after 5 min. of laying there....
Yikes. Imagine this eye looking back at you through a peephole... a little too up close and personal.
This artist is fantastic at eyes! Even closed. Wow.
Load More Replies...Tired of life already. This is sad to me. She's given up and will take anything thrown at her. It makes me think of children in the slave trade.
Load More Replies...I love how this artist doesn't just portray idealistic people and creates images that include several differences and everyone is not conventionally attractive. This is something a lot of other artists don't seem to take into consideration.
That’s something else that makes it real; the fact that no one is actually perfect. You can see stray hairs, birthmarks, pockmarked skin, and so many things that aren’t considered “idealistic.” Without those, everything seems fake, like the expectation of the “idealistic” person today.
Load More Replies...This reminds me of that article on BoredPanda about the computer generating extremely detailed photos of people who don't exist. Same deal with this, too. Wicked.
Of all of the photo-realistic artists on boredpanda, this may be the best. Plus the composition of the subject matter is hypnotically beautiful.
I think it is interesting that in the comments people say what art "should be"...I didn't realize that there are limits on "art". Hmmm...Like something or don't. Your choice. But I don't see how we can tell an artist what to do. MHO

Load More Replies...so, most of the comments were on how real something looked, but i appreciated the emotion behind the faces. not one looked story-less or expression-less. if even one existed in real life, i would ask there story. I think that the most important part is the emotion, not the realism.
I can't believe these are paintings and not photographs. This guy really has a gift from God. God bless this artists abilities aka talents. So beautifully designed and mad cutesy.
I wish I had even a fraction of this artist's talent! He captures the personality of his subjects so unbelievably well. Phenomenally talented!
