Pixar Artist Is Drawing R-Rated Movie Scenes In The Style Of Cute Kids’ Books
American animator Josh Cooley's title 'Movies R Fun!' is one of the most hilariously inappropriate books you could get for a child.
Cooley has picked some of his favorite R-Rated movie scenes from contemporary classics (including Alien, Fargo, Apocalypse Now, The Shining...), and reimagined them as illustrations you would find a a kid's book. It shouldn't come as a surprise that images are nothing short of perfection, because Josh works as a storyboard artist for Pixar. When I was a child I loved it. Because of the princess, and the monster with the eyes in hands was awesome. I saw it recently with my girlfriend and s**t, it's not as I remembered it. I guess I didn't understand the "real" part before, but now... I mean, it's great, but don't look it in the first date with your Spanish girlfriend.

First - these all look great. However, I wouldn't introduce them as "children style". Why? Because I've read tons of comics for a more adult audiesnce that look, more or less, just like that. Somehow, there is stll that everlasting and omnipresent perception that, if it's a drawing - it's for children. We gotta get out of it, please. Drawing is just one of art's many various forms, its content can contain more phylosophy than every novel ever written, and even more gore than every live-action horror ever made.

The artist illustrated them specifically to look like Little Golden Books, in composition and style. Hence the simple, child-friendly captions. The contrast of R-Rated film content to a familiar childrens book style was the joke.
