I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 50 Of The Best Ones From 2019
5Mviews
We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.
However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.
Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.
We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.
I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.
As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".
I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.
Nairobi has a baby elephant orphanage. So I guess not. Of course, if they are brought up in the orphanage, which is by Nairobi National Park, then they are not sold to a zoo or circus.
This is definitely a good thing, but be careful to remember that fortnite is known for an especially toxic crunch culture. Employees are expected to work insane hours with no pay. Planting forests is good, but he should also be held responsible for the unfair and harmful working conditions his company creates.
The rabid, right-wingers still spewing their nonsense that renewables will drive prices up so high no one will be able to have electricity will not be noticing this development. The belief disconfirmation paradigm is too powerful for some people to overcome.
Glad to see them come back. Sad that they died out there in the first place.
This is nice, but it would be better if children being educated wasn’t contingent on their parents paying any sort of fee.
You bet. I live near the railroad tracks in a town called Encinitas, California. In a year and a half that I have lived there, we have had four people jumping in front of the train. That is in the area near my street alone! One of them was 15
Load More Replies...That is a global number. It is sad that the rates are going up in the US, especially among veterans. Something is VERY wrong when one of the most advanced nations has such a high suicide rate. Our house needs serious fixing, and it needs to start in Washington DC with a certain house of a white color...
In Australia, more veterans of the Afghan conflict have taken their own lives than were killed during the conflict. We really need to look after the people that serve their country better.
Load More Replies...We still have a long way to go though. There is still this lingering stigma around mental health in many countries. Sadly, treating mental health doesn’t near get attention or research. It would be fantastic to see more initiatives to educate people about mental health in schools and the workplace. I really wish there was more education about it for young teens who are especially vulnerable. Education and openly talking about it can help lessen the stigma.
Although it's a good sign, there's still a long way to go. Especially th suicide rate within the group of teenagers is still way too high in a lot of countries! Again - It's still a good sign!
That has to do with the "suicide phenomenon". Basically teenagers that have the same mindset tend to hang out with one another an become friends. So generally kids suffering from depression, tend to stick together. When one in the group attempts or successfully completes suicide, the others tend to follow suit, unfortunately. They've done all kinds of studies on it. Teens and young adults are especially vulnerable.
Load More Replies...great news, dealing with the opioid epidemic in US will drop it even more
Wait, we were supposed to be handling that? Does creating an opioid that is twice as strong as heroin count?
Load More Replies...POssibly because of education allowing peiple to recognise signs of impending attempts ?
Sounds good, but where is the information, saved lives, how, what changed ???
maybe some fact checking here or supplying the source would make it more credible. I personally find this one hard to believe.
I find this hard to believe as I personally know 3 people this year who have taken their own lives, all in their 50's. I don't know about the rest of the world but in England it's pretty dire. My mother also witnessed a young man end his life on an electric train track.
Sorry for your experience, but that by itself doesn't make the global statistics. That's a bias.

New Zealands Suicide rate continues to climb.. what is wrong in NZ
there is still a long way to go for better mental health & depression
Dear Administration for BoredPanda. I just checked this full BoredPanda page and overall the messages are indeed very positive. The image with the noose however, is the only one I truly feel is not executed well. It's too harsh and negative and not suitable for kids.
There's many many positive messages on here and lovely images on the original post but Unfortunately this particular one is the one that shows as the Face for the ad.
Load More Replies...I get what you're trying to do here, but this image isn't positive at all; it has a noose, it has the word suicide, and people (especially kids!) who see this image will think about those. You're still, possibly unconsciously, pointing at something extremely negative. If you're trying to uplift and/or move (people) into a truly positive direction you'll have to stay clear of these kind of images.
Might want to rethink this illustration. My brother just committed suicide a couple weeks ago by hanging. This wasn’t a very pleasant thing to see on my Facebook feed
If it's true, fantastic! Where do these stats come from is what I would like to know!
At least the rate is going in the right direction. More support for people with mental issues will keep this going the right way.
WTF is that graphic?!!!!! Are you mad? Lovely sentiment but seriously messed up trigger graphic 😳🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
modeless, you care so much about unborn children, but after they're born you don't give a damn; you do not want your taxes raised, you want to cut Medicaid (healthcare for poor). Since you mentioned democrats, you must be a republican hypocrite.

Although the use of solar panels is green, many solar panel manufacturing processes are not. To create a solar panel, caustic materials will emit greenhouse gases. Plus less than 11% of each panel has salvageable metals so they're not very recyclable once they're usable life has expired. Most people aren't aware that the 'green' alternatives often aren't.

Posts like these give me faith in humanity. Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed about world issues, but it's nice to escape that every once in a while and know how far we've come.
Life is calmer when people take care of their little spheres in the world and stop obsessing about the whole world. People who mire themselves in the world's problems start to see people as the enemy.
WOW!!!! This may be the best boredpanda post EVER!!!! Boredpanda needs to post more like this.
THANK YOU. to the person that made this.
*Reading this post filled you with determination.*
Perfect timing for there news, so we know it was actually a good year
Need this everyday, please.
I needed this so much too. THANKS A MILLION!
Good stuff and plenty of it. Thank you.
Thank you. I really needed this. My faith in this world and humanity has been at an all time low lately. We all could do with more good news in the world.

The happy news is obviously better than all the bad news!
This is a great post and many of these are amazing things, the problem is that the more we keep people alive and the longer they live the bigger the population gets which isn't sustainable. So it's a double edged sword. It's a catch-22.
Thanos will take care of that
The growing population truly isn't sustainable on a planet-wide basis. There is only one realistic way of controlling it and most people don't like it, they don't like it at all. Unfortunately, if we carry on as we are, there will need to be control over how many new humans get made. 😲 That or some pandemic will wipe out huge numbers and solve the problem that way... though that one sounds considerably worse to me!
Realism, Alice Laughs. If by policing language you are referring to laws against hate speech inciting acts of violence against others, no-one is stopping anyone saying what they like as long as it isn't stirring up acts of terrorism. It just means that there are consequences. In the UK we are happy with that thanks.
Hmm, overpopulation with the trend of cancel culture, banning anything you disagree with, and people willing to police language. Trying to remain positive...
This made my month!
