I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 50 Of The Best Ones From 2019
We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.
However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.
Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.
We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.
I am so happy for their victory, but just find it bonkers that an indigenous tribe had to fight a legal battle to protect their land in the first place.
Everything is relative, yes the court may have ruled in the Amazon Tribe's favour, but the destruction of the rainforest is still ongoing & a tribal activist was killed this year also.
sadly there is a massive gap between theory and application - there is absolutely no accountability or buy in from the government. this is a fluff story of zero impact or real world value - no step forward just a way for judges to pretend they are making a difference when really it's hot gas, ego massaging, and media coverage

Well, that's an easy battle to win. The oil is now leaking all over the Brazilian shore
I don't want to put a dampener on this positive news story, but elsewhere in South America there is massive new exploitation of oil and gas reserves displacing indigenous rainforest people. We only chanced on this following a trip to Ecuador in July. Here's the background. so I'll give you some great news, I live in Boa Vista, capital of Roraima, Amazonia BRAZIL. and the good news is that there's nothing burning the Amazon is standing, I work in a public agency that helps monitor the Amazon, and all that has been said is a lie, instead of listening to the rotten media come to know the Amazon. . See with your own eyes. We have many NGOs who are telling these lies they are exploiting the Indians and taking money from you to sell this absurd idea, donate to NGOs, come see.

And so, they set fire to the Amazon forest and drove the native out so that they can no longer protect the forest.
Bravo, I wish we could end the oil drilling, wherever it creates a serious problem, there have been enough oil spills already, resulting with tremendous damage !!!
And then they killed the tribes leader. Sorry but them they burned down the rainforest and the president of Brazil won't put it out!!??? Terrible retributions exacted for this victory.
And because the corporate pigs lost, they've decided to burn the forests. If THEY can't have them, no one can. F**k this s**t.
This should never have been a thought in the first place. Fkn oil companies destroy enough of this planet.
What a shame the traditional owners of the land the Adani coal mine will be on can't do the same. Shame on you Queensland government for revoking native title on wangan jagalingou lands.

Not to be a downer on a happy post, but tribal leaders and Native activists are still being murdered by illegal loggers daily. This win is huge, but is just a small drop in the bucket for the number of losses that need to be struck against the oil lobby in order to get them to change their habits.
I did hear about this, and was ecstatic, truly, the oil business has had too many spills, how many animals either died, or suffered, also land is taken from natives, I am disgusted !!!
Start with tackling the GREED of multi nationals. THEN the rest of the world needs to be subsidising/ paying the people of the Amazon to keep the worlds lungs healthy. That is their job and their service to the rest of us. They need reward for doing that. We are in this together so why should their people live in poverty for us??
This is amazing. Over the moon that the Amazon tribe have beaten the massive oil companies and prevented them from causing even more damage to the lungs of the earth. Truly amazing. ❤️

What we have to realize here is the situation between the natives the citizens and the government in Brasil is very different from other countries, most Brasileiros are of native decent. And a lot of theses tribes are looked at as free loaders on government protection. This isn’t my opinion but most people who live in the near Amazon region see the natives as blocking progress. We aren’t talking about building Bustling bustling cities, we are talking about making schools , bringing electricity, and vaccines to parts of the country that haven’t had that luxury or maybe had these things taken away.
I'm very happy about this. We need our rainforests if we want to keep living!!! Awesome!
There's no oil in Amazon Rainforest. Fake. Anybody talking about the oil from Venezuela polluting Brazil's beaches. Take care of your own country.

Don't be naive, people. Here in Brasil indigenuous people are being shot by farmers and wood traders, everyday. Bolsonaro's government is implementing politics that make it easy to destroy the forest and begin an indian genocide. Situation here goes far beyond legal battles.

I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.
As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".
I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.
Hm, I think Sweden must have forgot to apply then. We dont have stray dogs, at least for decades. Any lost dog gets collected, if no owner is found it gets adopted via Animal Protection. I have seen one or two lost dogs, where we found the owner, but never a genuine stray.
SOOOO not against this! But....shouldn't it be equal pay for equal skill? (meaning, no race, gender, age, or any discrimination at all!) If you have more skill in the task, you get paid more, if you have less you get paid less. Plain and simple (yet I know it is more difficult to prove wrong-doing that way too)

Posts like these give me faith in humanity. Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed about world issues, but it's nice to escape that every once in a while and know how far we've come.
Life is calmer when people take care of their little spheres in the world and stop obsessing about the whole world. People who mire themselves in the world's problems start to see people as the enemy.

This is a great post and many of these are amazing things, the problem is that the more we keep people alive and the longer they live the bigger the population gets which isn't sustainable. So it's a double edged sword. It's a catch-22.

I think a balance is better. Transparency reduces corruption. Confidentiality "divides and conquers" unity in humanity. All CULTures reduce free thinking and truer happiness. Imagine developmentally disabled having equal power and wealth to intellectuals.
When I read these good news headlines, it helps me realize that we are making progress. Yes, there's a lot of bad news in the world, but good news is just as plentiful when we look for it. Good news is healing. I'm sharing this on all my social media pages!

We can have the world be mostly fantastic and turn things around. But we have to withdraw from bank issued money. There's been a ton of great news lately though, communists got BTFO'd in a lot of western countries, the US economy is doing great, brexit is finally going to go through without impedance. Overall SJW's are losing and the people are regaining some of their power.
