Reading comics may be a great way to relax and to distract yourself from the problems in the real world. They offer an escape into another realm and they are enjoyable to read as the images are already suggested.

But some modern artists like to stay in reality and explore everyday problems, making more people aware of them as well as making them discuss and be more mindful. One of these artists is PinkWug. His comics reflect the injustice in the world, but in a fun and playful way.

I worked with out a union and the manager's favorites got everything. We unionized and then there was a written contract so that the rules were clear and everybody knew how things were going to go. It was easier on managers in a way too because they had rules to go by.

One of the main reasons why Scandinavia is such a great place to live, is that our unions are very strong

I support the free market, which means that unions and the big companies are both fine. If the workers aren't getting paid their market value, then it makes sense for them to strike.

I don't know why anyone would want to live in the US. It's the richest country in the world but treats the majority of its citizens very badly for the sake of money. I'm not saying that where I live is the best place in the world but at work I say my piece and refuse to do what I believe is unfair. I haven't lost my job.

Unions only protect bad workers nowadays. And you PAY them for that. Hell no!

no. They were needed at the time and brought us all those great things. Now the market should dictate salaries, working hours, vacation days, 401Ks etc

I'd vote yes if unions were unpaid and actually interested in benefitting the workers instead of lining their own executive pockets. Anymore the have become exactly the abusers that they were designed to protect workers from.

Having grown up in Detroit my impression of unions isn't so rosy. There's a reason Ford closed factories in the US and moved to Mexico. Wages & cost of production is cheaper. What good are your awesome union benefits if the company shuts down and moves out of the country?

But if they move to Mexico only because it's cheaper... Don't you just wish Mexican workers had the same rights you did? It's probably just cheaper because they have fewer benefits. Just like outsourcing to China is great mostly because they work 12 hours days 6 days a week. You can't wish that on anyone. The whole point is that if everywhere unionised, big firms would have to pay them fairly too.

Unions had their place and time. They DID great work. Today they protect the lazy workers, make companies over pay workers to do tasks a teenager could be trained to do in 10 minutes, and are the reason companies leave the country!

Huh, those are the same things people said against unions 100 years ago. Not true then. Not true now. (Btw, "overpaid" workers is nonsense, literally. Workers make the money for businesses. If there's capital to pay the workers, it's because the workers made it.)

PinkWug shares his art on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr and the platform on which he has the most followers, Twitter. So if you like these comics, the artist has made it very easy to follow him regardless of what one’s favorite social media platform is. On his Patreon, PinkWug says, “I aim to make my comics accessible to the general public and to raise awareness on important issues in a digestible and shareable format.”

Bored Panda got in touch with PinkWug and he revealed to us that he has never been that artist that draws all the time: “I didn't doodle in my notebook in high school like most artists I know.”

He added, “However, I saw the impact that comics like Poorly Drawn Lines and Dinos and Comics were able to have through their relatively simple yet cute drawings and unique writing style. They gave me the confidence to start making comics as a relative beginner in this craft and to slowly develop my own style.”

We don't have to save the world, we only need to help those in our immediate, personal environment. Start small and every helpful action ripples out and trickles up. Every bit of kindness or help makes an enormous difference.

The artist’s comics definitely have a distinctive style in the color scheme and the characters as well as the dialogs. But what really sticks out are the unusual topics. A lot of successful webcomic artists avoid talking about sensitive subjects like politics as that often results in a very mixed and crazy response from the readers.

We asked, what encouraged the artist to focus on such difficult themes as politics and economy and it turns out, it was carefully thought about, “My main focus was always on tackling political themes. The comic format was chosen because it's the perfect medium to quickly introduce people to new lines of thought, new perspectives on the various political issues that affect us all.”

PinkWug is creating comics about what he is really passionate about and with his art, he is trying to make people be more involved in the world we live in. He says “Political apathy is a real problem and I wanted to play a small role in getting more people to care about civil and labor rights.”

But as mentioned before, talking about these matters sparks heated discussions. In fact, PinkWug told us, “The range of reactions my comics have created can only be described as wild. There are always people fighting in the comment section for hours on end.”

I know we can never properly strike like a lot of other industries and what I have suggested in the past is that nursing and junior doctors be given a higher tax free threshold most governments in the world do this for their military to incentivise joining the same should happen for nurses

In 1976, the US passed a law making student loans un-dischargable. You have to pay them back even if you go bankrupt. 1976 is also when the degree-mills popped up in the US where they sell you a bill of goods saying you are getting new careerbut you're actually just getting a huge debt and no job skills. Mallinckrodt declared bankruptcy in the US to avoid having to pay for their role in the opiod crisis. Meanwhile the woman who has to file bankruptcy because she lost everything trying to pay for her son's rehab still has to pay that $200K student loan back. She got that debt at a 2 year nursing program that turned out to not be certified so she couldn't even take the test to get a job.

However, he sees the bright side as well, “There are also people willing to learn and people willing to teach. There are people thanking me for tackling issues they care deeply about and there are people wishing me death. All in all, I would give it a B+.”

Well, it seems that when some issue really matters to someone, they will accept all sides of the debate and this artist is proof of that.

Let me say this, because it needs to be said again. Feminism is fighting for equality for ALL women. Here for my sisters, not just my cis-ters. If you don’t support trans women just as much as cis women, you’re not a feminist.

PinkWug was inspired by other artists and he has an inspirational message of his own, “I would just like to add that it's never too late to start creative projects. Don't worry about not being able to catch up to people who have been practicing the craft since their birth. Whatever you create, it will be the first of its kind!”

Always remember, if they're profitable it's because they're not paying you the actual value of your labor. Unionize and demand they take less of what you're due.
