For those who’ve never had a problem with potatoes viciously touching the meat on your plate like in Michelangelo’s famous fresco “The Creation Of Adam,” eating is like a walk in the park. When the sun it’s out, it’s fun, and when it’s raining, you just try to get it over with.
But for the gang of picky eaters, having food go into your stomach is something not to be taken light-heartedly. You gotta calibrate, engineer, and foresee the products, tastes, and combinations before they hit the tongue, and even then, there should always be a plan B.
So this time, we’re gonna see what picky eating is all about, as shared by the selective foodies themselves, who seem to have an excellent sense of humor. From having your friend’s mom tell you she’s made food for you to that cursed feeling when seeing the menu in a restaurant feels like you made a mistake, these are some real-life situations but with a humorous twist.

Toddler: "I don't eat those seeds on my buns!" Also toddler: "Mmm, rocks."
Why do people feed small children fast food? Why do they allow children to become "picky" aka spoiled? My children ate what was served, there were no second choices.
It's very easy to say that and I would have agreed with you in the past, until you actually have a child that will potentially not eat anything for days on end rather that eat the healthy food that you make for them. My son is 2 and is basically living on pizza and toast at the moment. I offer him other foods but I can't let him go hungry, which he will, so in the end I give him whatever he'll eat to get food into him. Please don't judge other people when often they're just trying their best to get their child to eat something, anything!

I feel like there is some missing punctuation here. I am confused.
But... obviously the crayon was only a snack, no comparison with chicken nuggets.
That and you can't take just the mushrooms off. You always take some of the cheese of with it. You're left with splotches of no cheese.
THE TASTE LINGERS!!! I see a mushroom, I give it to my friend. Same way with onions.
People think I'm crazy when I say I hate onions...
Load More Replies...Why don't you, order half with / half without, get your own pizza or consider suggesting something else. Obviously you don't order what you don't like. How is this different?
Me too. What’s worse, it changes from day to day, so what Scruffy loved yesterday is “How dare you try to poison me with THIS today?”
Load More Replies...My dog does this. Also, takes her paw and throws pieces out of the bowl to show her displeasure.
My parakeet wouldn't eat the oat grains in his seed mix. He lived to be 12 in spite of being such a picky eater.
The food I feed my birds comes in little colored pellets. They would go weeks leaving just the green pellets behind, and then suddenly they'd eat the green pellets but not the yellow ones, then a couple weeks later yeah the yellow ones were good again but not the orange ones... Luckily they hatched a brood a few years back & the younger generation is more than willing to eat all the colors.
With color blindness at least they can smell and taste the difference. Blindfold a human and they won't know.
If you, your family member, or your friend is what is commonly known as a “picky eater,” the chances are it didn’t happen overnight. The term refers to someone who’s selective about their food, unwilling to try new foods, and has very strong food preferences, which makes fussy eating classified as a feeding and, later in life, eating difficulty.
Many of these fussy eating behaviors start appearing in early childhood, and in order to find out what exactly is fussy eating in kids and the tactics to help it, Bored Panda reached out to the baby and child nutritionist Charlotte Stirling-Reed. Charlotte is an award-winning author who specializes in positive, evidence-based advice on giving children a healthy start in life.
There are so many reasons why little ones might start being fussy about their food, says Charlotte. “First off, it’s a very natural part of their development, a phase often known as 'neophobia'—a fear of the new.” It turns out, it has to do with an evolutionary response, explains the child nutritionist.
“As soon as babies and toddlers start becoming more independent and moving around more, ultimately, it may protect them from eating something they shouldn’t (but doesn’t stop them from trying to eat pen lids and small toys though… strangely)."
The texture of Mushrooms. Yucky yuck yuck. I like the smell of them cooking, but put them in my mouth? Nope.
Very true. Who cares if it tastes amazing? If it's mushy and stringy then it's completely inedible
Yup! I can only eat sweet potato if it’s sliced and fried. Mashed, whipped, purée, and sliced baked is repulsive.
Believe it or not, it's also good raw. I like it anyway
Load More Replies...I'm not a particularly picky eater but this is correct. Bad texture = total poison.
I am getting better at this. I do need to remember that just because I didn’t like it as a child doesn’t mean I won’t like it now.
As an adult, I asked my mom why she made me eat foods when I was a kid (like boiled squash). She responded, 'how can you know you don't like it, if you've never tried it?" I answered, "I've never eaten s**t either, but if the smell of something makes me nauseous, I really don't want to put it in my mouth."
If you've never tried it, how do you know? If you go through life, never trying things because you THINK you won't like it, then that's a boring life indeed.
Load More Replies...Well, sometimes the more you learn about things, the less appetizing the are. I used to eat liver. Until I learned what the liver does. Same with kidneys. So I don’t care HOW much you say your recipe makes liver or kidney taste incredible, I will NOT taste it!
I used to gag and was absolutely disgusted by crab ran-goons (when I was a toddler, because I actually ate them wrong), but now, I love them :3
If it contains chicken (apart from chicken breast) or any meat on the bone, I really don't have to try it not to like it.
Moreover, Charlotte adds that there is also a genetic element to fussy eating as “some individuals may be more likely to reject more tastes than others. Additionally, research also shows that some children just have more sensitive perceptions of taste (Mennella et al 2005).”
Among many reasons, some fussy eating can be attributed to learning from parent feeding practices and mealtime behaviors.
Having said that, Charlotte has good news and it’s that “you can do something about fussy eating, even if a toddler is genetically predisposed to reject more foods.” The children nutritionist also said that those parents who have a fussy baby/toddler shouldn’t feel like they’re alone in the world.
“I run Fussy Eating Webinars for parents regularly and know it’s a really common and that many parents face fussy eating difficulties every day, especially with children between 18 months and 3 years of age—but it can happen at any time.”
Ever been over friend's house to eat and the food just ain't no good. I mean the macaroni's soggy, the peas all mushy...
ik when i was a kid i didn't like chocolate chip cookies and my friends mom would always have them as a snack at her house and I would eat very little but then she would go on walks with my mom and explain how I didn't eat her coocies and asked what I did like so when my mom got home I would get a lecture
Try being a vegetarian in childhood and having people shove ham down your throat regardless of your wishes. B/c, y'know, you're a vegetarian, voluntarily, with your mom's approval. But they know better!
My friend and I hate each other’s food. Whenever we go to each other’s houses neither of us eats anything.
I don't like Chinese food. I worked at a small store with a woman who's adopted daughter was chinese. The daughter owned tje store with her Chinese husband. The company Christmas dinner was at a Chinese restaurant. I ate noting but white rice. No one noticed or asked about it. I was too polite to say anything. I cried in the bathroom.
I never eat the buffet at friends houses or celebrations I just smile and say I’m not hungry. Once someone at the buffet went out and brought me a KFC and I ate that
I went to my cousin's house for a sleepover once, and I hadn't ever eaten the dinner, so I tried it, and it was disgusting! I didn't want to hurt their feelings so I ploughed through it. Then my uncle picked up the plate and put a second helping on it and said: "You seemed to like it so much, here's a second helping."
Yep. I ran away from a friend's house at christmas who invited me to stay for christmas dinner. The plate was a carving plate, piled high. I was 14 or so. and it was around a formal table with her parents, and extended family. My appetite vanished, I couldn't eat ANY of it. In the end, I ran away, absolutely humiliated, haha. Since then, I have refused all invitations to eat at someone else's house.
MY DAUGHTER!!! They’ll say: oh She ate Thai food with us and loved it! And I’ll say: YOU LIIIIIE!
I was a picky eater as a child and I can't tell you how many times I suffered under this 'paradigm' of manners. As a adult with children and the cook, I make multiple dinners if need be. And I would NEVER ask a guest to eat anything they don't like. I will gladly make them something else, really. To have to chew and swollow food that FEELS wrong/TASTES wrong is just torture.
Truth, I hate cooked carrots, but if I end up staying at someone’s house and they made cooked carrots you better believe that I am going to find a way to swallow them
omg yes for some reason i will eat a whole carrot if it is raw but if it is cooked it is disgusssting
Load More Replies...I ate frog at a buffet once. It wasn’t good but it wasn’t disgusting. Am vegan now but I still wouldn’t recommend frog, it’s like bland wet chicken.
Indeed. I have eaten fish, which I do not like, because the person went to the trouble of preparing the meal for me.
I like this young lady! At least she tries. Me? I am the least picky eater! I would eat anything that wouldn't eat me first...
One reason why I always eat the same thing at restaurants is because I don’t want to waste money on something I may not like. And also because I know my choice is pretty safe (not always).
I am the same. VERY allergic to a certain common spice. Once I know for sure it is NOT in a particular dish at a particular place, that will be my "go-to" meal!
Load More Replies...My dilemma at Indian restaurants. I always have beef vindaloo. I really feel I should try something else. I MIGHT like it MORE than BV. But what if I don't? I've wasted a good BV opportunity.
I always ask for the same thing because it's my favorite, and if you try something else, you don't know what you're putting your money to...
My friend was a picky eater, literally pizza and sausage and chips was her diet. Eating out with her was a nightmare but I never made her feel bad about it, I think she had some sensory issues surrounding it. She liked good wine though so every cloud!!
LOL! I was once confronted like this and pointed out that my friend had ordered the *same* thing she always did, too, and suddenly.... enlightenment!
Well I (a picky eater but over the years opened up a bit) mostly eat the same because i love it. At one restaurant I never got the menu after a certain point because it was clear what i wanted. It is like traveling to austria and sticking to non-austrian food instead of getting a schnitzel. Or wanting to get german food while in Italy (at least to me). Sometimes you just have to stick to something
macaroni and cheese for every restaurant outing squaddddd, where you at??
Most importantly, there are many strategies and tactics that can help little fussy eaters and broaden the foods they’re eating. Charlotte shared a couple of them.
“Start their weaning journey with VEGGIES—some research actually shows that offering vegetables as baby’s first foods and offering them regularly through the first years of life can increase acceptance of them later on in childhood! I go into detail about how to do this in my new book How to Wean Your Baby.”
Another tactic is what Charlotte calls the “Role Model.” “It might sound simple, but eating similar foods at similar times as your children can really influence their dietary patterns. One specific study even showed that the more often children ate the same food as their parents, the better the quality of the children’s diet.”
The third strategy to try has to do with your own reaction to a fussy eater. Charlotte suggests not taking rejection literally since “there are so many reasons why kids will reject a meal e.g. overtired, over-hungry, over-grumpy, already full, sore teeth, a cold—I could go on and on, but sometimes they just simply don’t feel like eating what is on offer.”
u can hate me if u want but tbh i don't like eating resteraunt soup because I have no idea what's in it and I'm allergic to... a heck load of stuff.
I don’t hate you, I feel your pain. In my fifties I developed a gluten sensitivity. If I eat a little, I swell up and feel like crap until it’s out of my system. If I eat a lot, I get incredibly sick, very nauseated, headachy, and miserable. I can’t believe the foods that contain gluten—-candy? Are you kidding me? Yes, if it has a dusting of flour between layers. So I well understand the anxiety surrounding eating out. Even if they offer a “gluten-free” menu, the GF food might be prepared in the same pan as food full of gluten, so cross-contaminated if not cleaned properly. My poor husband. We don’t eat out a lot anymore, except to the few restaurants we’ve come to trust. Sucks.
Load More Replies...If it's a restaurant I've not been to before, and I know in advance that we're going there, I will absolutely look up the menu online so I can make my agonizing decision in private.
*bolts out of the restaurant When he sees the first two items on the menu: coddled eggs and Witchetty Grub* AAAA
You're reading the menu and this looks very good good then you see something infesting it. Some with most stuff on the menu.
Replace “picky eater” with “food allergies and intolerance” and it’s spot-on.
I pretty much order the same thing from every restaurant coz of my fussiness and that is chicken schnitty with chips and gravy. Sometimes I will order salt and pepper squid but only if they have tartare sauce instead of aioli.
I'm the girl ordering chicken at a seafood restaurant.

Load More Replies...According to the child nutrition expert, “adding foods to a 'rejected' list only goes to limit their diets more.” Instead, she suggests that parents keep trying those foods and keeping their kid's diet varied because “one day, they might eat it.”
Most importantly, Charlotte’s key tip has to with “making mealtimes light, fun, and enjoyable, as much as you can.” Try not to overstress, but enjoy the moment of discovering new foods even if they get rejected at first. “This can make all the difference in the world,” Charlotte concluded.

as someone who has 'converted' from hating tomatoes to liking them, you may have only had 'bad ones' in the sense that they were bland, or overripe, or under-ripe. At some point in my early 20s I had an absolutely delicious tomato on a restaurant salad, firm, not overly wet, and quite flavorful. Now I at least try them first before passing judgement.
Load More Replies...Gosh, it's almost like cooking a raw fruit and adding salt, sugar, and spices completely changes the taste and texture...
Are you asking me to put bloody turmeric on a tomato
Load More Replies...I like cooked tomatoes, just not raw. The texture has induced emesis on several occasions.
Exactly! I HATE TOMATOS! Pasta is my favourite food. I just don’t like unprocessed, raw tomatoes.
I think this is one of the things why some people can’t stand picky eaters. Everything unhealthy and childish is magically fine. Swap one ingredient for something healthy and it gets disgusting.
Generally, that means those were the foods they ate as a kid. Which isn't their fault, that is what was provided to them. However, as an adult, one really should strive to expand the pallet.

Picky eater here, This is so true besides for me I don't like hamburgers or ranch :)
Is that broccoli muffins? Perhaps...broccoli cupcakes? No, wait, I think it's broccoli in cornbread. *insert unhappy fox noises* (actually, it sounds pretty good, but it would be great if it was broccoli cupcakes :3)
i will only eat broccoli if its raw with ranch or steamed by itself, i will not eat broccoli stems though
IMHO broccoli Is the most underrated vegerable. It's soooo tasty. Just needs to be prepared carefully 🤷🏻♀️
cooked broccoli = YUMMY 😋 raw broccoli = I would probably rather die than eat it. idk why i am like this
I have a picky eater, autistic, and she wouldn't eat this because the food is mixed. Food not touching means all food not touching.
My daughter is autistic and a picky eater as well so bad different foods go in different plates
Load More Replies...My dad always lets his food touch. Like i don't understand how you can eat soggy rolls
I don't mind food touching but the "juice" of one food cannot invade the space of any other food or it's poison.
I can't have any green bean juice in my on my bread, potatoes, meat, or any other veggie.
I eat in layers. Everything can be mixed - like a stew or casserole - but I'll eat all of one thing - say carrots - before I move onto the next - trying to save my favourite taste to the last.
Okay, I can relate. If I have coleslaw and breaded crispy chicken on my plate, do you think it's fine that they get up in each other's space? 𝗡𝗼. The chicken will get soggy, and the coleslaw will get crumbs in it...not my desired outcome if you ask me. (now imagine if there was biscuits with all of that)
A vegetarian going to a bbq because you know that even the salad will have meat in it.
This was my issue when I moved to the US South. Suddenly, mashed potatoes had meat in them. Not the gravy! The potatoes were mashed, and cubed meat added to them. ??? garden salad? Has meat. Two growing seasons for veg, and everything has meat. Oh, and even the vegetarian dishes will have chicken in them, bc, y'know, chicken isn't a meat (?!?!?).... Yeah. I eat before I leave the house!

Texture is a big part of taste, and most foods taste different depending on how it is cooked or prepared. I hate cheese with a passion. I could never eat plain cheese or grilled cheese, or cheese on a burger....but I LOVE pizza and nachos.
Is it just me or does that guy look like Gile from Streetfighter 2? (The original)
Gordon Ramsay is a professional picky eater when you really think about it
Exactly. Unfortunately many people think that no one will starve themselves, when in fact some people, kids included would rather starve than eat something they really don’t like even to the point of hospitalisation and some needing to be tube fed.
Load More Replies...I would never force my child to eat something they don’t like. I wouldn’t want to be forced to eat something I don’t like so why should I do the same for my kids. As long as they try the food that is all I ask. And if they don’t like it then they get their “safe” food, which is something I know they like.
Mine can make themselves a sandwich if they don’t like the food. But I don’t provide it. (Given they are old enough ofc.)
Load More Replies...Just cruel. It's not a child being manipulative or acting spoiled. It's a different sensitivity or sensory issue. I know a mature world traveler who can't stand most vegetables or fruits.
I got that once at the baby-sitter's when I was four years old. Babysitter gave me spaghetti for lunch, I told her "I hate spaghetti", she said, "Tough, you're going to sit here until you eat it." When my Mom came to pick me up at 5:30, I was still sitting there... ( I may be just a bit stubborn. )
That is exactly the way not to treat a picky eater! My kids are allowed to leave it on the plate, but I have always let them try whatever they wanted to try. Now, my kids eat just about everything, including olives, oysters, ....
Whenever I watch Bear Grylls or I’m a celeb get me outta here, I always think that I would die of starvation coz I couldn’t handle what they eat.

Well, yeah. Beans are pretty much mush when cooked, strange texture. Haven't we all grown out of eating stuff with the consistency of baby food?
I can't imagine having a friend who would tell me they were happy for me who then turned around and posted our conversation online, saying that if hurts to be friends with me.

Wasteful in every possible way... throwing away food (instead of declining it so someone else can eat it) and using paper plates...
So you use your fine china every time you have a party or picnic, or a potluck at work? You've never taken a serving of a food you normally like, only to discover that whoever made it used a weird ingredient, or that it isn't what you thought it was (eg, mashed potatoes that were actually turnips)?
Load More Replies...that's all the vegetables! that's not being picky, that's being a child who wont eat greens.
Why not just get a pizza without those toppings? In saying that my family like Hawaiian pizzas but I hate the texture of pineapple so I pick the pineapple off.
If you don't like vegetables on pizza, don't order a pizza with vegetables...or maybe you could eventually learn to like them? :3
I didn’t like olives but I actually loves greens! Might sound wrong but my favorite vegetable was Brussel sprouts because my mom would put them in the oven to crisp them up!
These shrimps look so delicious I cant think of any reason why I would order chicken with fries.

if I have to make it, chance are, I ain't gonna make it therefore: MOOOM, THERE'S NO FOOD!!!
I mean, looking at it right now, there's seriously nothing to eat.
To be fair half the stuff in the fridge are condiments, dips, beverages, and probiotic tablets.
Uh.... most of that is processed crap full of stuff I learned horrible things about in chemistry back in university lab, so..... Kinda gotta agree. But I am a picky eater. I like vegetables!

Load More Replies...I actually won’t go to a nice restaurant coz 1. I would be too embarrassed and 2. I just don’t do fancy food.
You probably just haven't found the right one for you. Fancy shouldn't be up its own a**e, snobby and makes you uncomfortable to be there, it should be welcoming. The food needn't be over fiddled with but well cooked quality ingredients. I was taken for a meal at Cliveden House, which is a generally well known fine dining restaurant and national Trust property in the UK, and inadvertently ended up choosing a posh version of potatoes, haricot beans and sausages. Or as my northern friend laughed 'tatties and baked beans'. I love fine dining but hate it when the staff think they are better than their customers.

Ugh, that's why I don't approve of kids menus! Don't get me wrong, coloring is the bomb, but like, most kids menus have the same choices. Burgers, chicken finger, chicken strips, etc. If kids grow up on these things, how do you expect them to want to try anything else???

That's one thing great about covid, me and the hubby can get something nice from a restaurant and then just make the kids a cheese rollup when we eat the food at home. (I realize we could have done similar pre-covid, but we just felt cheap then and dining in was the" "experience")
Unlike my mom, who will make steamed vegetables and say, "I think you're going to love this!"
So true!! My mom keeps making me eat SOMETHING I DESPISE over and over again as if I enjoy it and won't even listen when I literally almost THREW UP because she made me finish it. I just didnt like the texture of it its was smooth with bumps and euugh.
i like veggies... what I don't like is guac, potatoes, turkey, fish, shrimp, spinach, gravy, etc.

Sad to say, but studies show this occurs very early in childhood development. Here are a couple ideas on how to start though: https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/ss/slideshow-picky-eating
At 16 I became vegetarian. All changed overnight.
Load More Replies...It is frustrating to say the least. I don’t want to be fussy and have a limited diet but unfortunately it’s turned out that way.
Sounds like you’re trying, though! Don’t give up, your taste buds change over time. Some things that are gross now might be more palatable later on. Or try prepping the foods you are sorta not into but don’t hate in a different way. Boiled veggies are gross? Try roasted ones with different seasonings. Or add cheese. Purée veggies and blend them into pasta sauces. Look up how to feed picky kids & try them on yourself. You’ll find a trick or two that will work for you.
Load More Replies...People who think picky eating is a choise or tell to "grow up" give me anxiety. Sure, it's true for some, but there are people who simply can't eat certain things without having to hold in vomit. I remember as a small kid, I was ashamed I didn't like potatoes (used to like but over time, they started to taste extremely bitter), for long I just gulped them down with other foods as fast as possible, with my eyes tearing up and gag reflex pushing in. I never got used to them, the dislike got even worse and eventually I told my parents that I don't like potatoes. They understood.
Raw tomatoes bother my stomach, but I can eat raw foods other than that, so I just don't get why people won't leave me alone about the blasted *tomatoes*. I eat things they abhor, like asparagus, so can't they just take my tomatoes and leave me their asparagus and we all go home happy? .....
Load More Replies...Well done for facing up to the problem and looking for a solution. There are some suggestions (also 1 or 2 nasty comments) but good luck.
No reason why you can't change, even later in life. I've deffo seen friends and friends of my children change over time. There's something called the 40 bite taste test 🤔
Try a miniscule piece of something new (one ingredient). Smell it, touch it with your tongue, hold it in your mouth, chew and swallow, or spit it out. Stop at any time and try again later if you can. Repeat with other stuff. The "Hold it in your mouth" part is to get the whole taste, the first flavour is not the only one and the taste can change as it hits different taste buds.
I hate String Beans, So I simply tell everyone I am allergic to them.
Go to a normal, good restaurant and before you go in decide what you will order. Like fifth from the bottom of the main dishes. There is no restaurant in the world with will put anything on their menu which doesn´t fit the local taste.
I warn everyone I know beforehand that I'm a very picky eater and if I don't eat they don't have to take it personal. Most people now text me with their plans for when I come over and if I will hate it I bring my own food.
I am a vegetarian and at thanksgiving at my grandmas my dad always has to bring stuffing with vegetarian broth cuz BROTH IS MEAT and that is also why I can't trust soup
Friend invited me to lunch and apologised for the baked potato with cheese, baked beans and salad (Yum). Said she had planned to cook curry but hadn't had time to shop. I was so happy. I reminded her that I can't be in the same building as curry without vomiting. That particular mix of spices is worse than the smell of the local sewerage farm for me.
Wasn't trying to be mean, I know most picky eaters are going to try be polite when eating at others.
I know you're being downvoted but that's the way I also see it

Maybe the icecream was artificially flavored as so many are.

I love the delicate flavour and texture of a nice fresh avocado - possibly with a dash of salt and pepper. My last workplace has a restaurant on the top floor. I went there one morning for their avocado on toast. It was nasty. Sure, it was green - but there was so much diced onion (probably half of it), lemon juice and spices in it that I couldn't taste the avocado. And the toast was slow cooked to be rock hard. This kind of cooking sabotage is why I am picky.
I've always been an odd mix of adventurous & picky when it comes to food. I will *try* just about anything (some exclusions apply) but the list of things I actually *like* is short.
How will you know unless you try? As an adult what you hated as a child may change. I'm always willing to try something new, or something I hated as a kid. I may still dislike it but it's not going to kill me to give it a try. My sister and mother loved raw clams. The idea of putting that in my mouth made me gag. One day I was at a party and they were serving steamed clams. They still look gross but I thought "why not try?" It wasn't bad don't know what the fuss was about besides they way they look.
this is isn't being a picky eater, HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE ANY FRUIT??? not even one????? every fruit taste differently???? i'm confused and i am a Picky Eater (tm)
I'll eat fruit as long as it doesn't contain cores or pips. Special credit goes to apples which contain both a core and pips...
Load More Replies...See I love many fruits but my body doesn’t. Many fresh fruits gives me tingly, itchy lips, gums, tongue, roof and back of mouth etc. Rockmelon is the absolute worst for it but it tastes so yummy.
That’s green kiwi and pineapple for me. I LOVE pineapple but I cannot eat it without pain.
Load More Replies...why? i is just not having a lot of foods you like
Load More Replies...I would like that, except they're super greasy and my mom always makes food at home. If I eat out it's so greasy I get nauseated
I'll eat some food, but as long as it's not mushrooms or whole tomatoes
Probably because it's a childhood comfort food. Some people stay mentally attatched to it because of that.
Load More Replies...that is true, as a kid until 14 years old, I didn't like anything. when I cooked it myself, I would just try it and now I eat almost everything.
Not only have I not grown out of it, I've gotten *more* picky. Things that I willingly ate as a child but can't stand now include dill pickles, cottage cheese, all but two brands of yogurt, raw mushrooms, and raisins.
Dear Qantas, Your meals are good enough that my picky tastebuds will tolerate them, but Air New Zealand’s meals are good enough that my picky tastebuds LIKE them. Signed, A New Zealander who will freely admit when something Australian really is better, like how Ricki-Lee’s entire Fear & Freedom album is gold and Lorde only has a couple of songs I like.
Well, peas, I agree with this one. I happen to know that the average frozen pot pie has eight peas.
I'd just have the bacon to be fair. But on toast. With HP Brown sauce.
Nope. It contains eggs - devil food spun out of the most disgusting animal there is - the chicken.
I'd replace the boiled eggs with scrambled eggs and add a cinnamon waffle
Those yolks...undercooked for hardboiled, overcooked for softboiled. Nope, not gonna eat it. Bacon is iffy; it has to be maple bacon, or forget it.
you have no idea how many times I've been asked if i'd like to switch to a vegetarian diet!
My younger brother orders a mcroyal without anything. They just send a burger patty in a bun and thats it!!! And it have to be a mcroyal, tf difference does it make?!
McRoyals have a larger patty than a regular McD's burger, plus it has a sesame bun rather than a plain one. See if they'll let him buy the ingredients separately (one sesame bun, one McRoyal meat patty); lot cheaper that way. (I learned this from the manager of a fast food place where I would always order their $7+ spicy chicken sandwich plain. Ordering a bun & chicken patty was about $3.)
Load More Replies...Got to say if I have a beef burger it must only comprise of: White bread bap, beef patty, lettuce and onion. No sauce, no tomato, no mystery salad object and definitely no f'ing cheese.
Ewww to the salmon and the rice. I will go to bed hungry thanks.
No it's not. It's amazing different the experience is between food you don't like and food you do. Good food is fun. Bad food is torture.
Everything looks like it was cooked 17 hours too long.

The juices are touching. I usually get a napkin and wipe up the juice that is about to touch other foods.
I'm trying to figure out what that green stuff is wit the mushroom on it.
Cilantro, that is another story. There is scientific evidence that people are genetically determined to have cilantro taste like soap. I do like it, but not too much.
I can't be in the same room in it, but my mom says I'm just exaggerating. I literally can't enjoy any other food when she has her cilantro-filled salsa.
Load More Replies...This is my son. Every year for his bday we'll go to his FAVOURITE restaurant. It's buffet restaurant, with more then 100 dishes. Every time he only eat chicken nuggets with fries and vanilla ice cream. No sauces, no other foods, foods can't be touching.
The teeth are disgusting and this doesn't suit me, I'll have any seafood please and thank you. But I remember when it was oh god
No to the cream cheese, cheese and sometimes mint (depends what is made with it).
I don't like slimy spaghetti. I like sticky spaghetti. Tons of grated parmesan.
i like spaghetti but some pple make it so that the sauce is like sour or they pt onions and I'm like "oh i wasn't expecting to eat here, i ate at home I'm so sorry! but it looks really good tho!"
Reminds me of a neighbour we had when I was little. She insisted our pasta and her family's pasta were not the same (they were different shapes but she didn't like pasta - unless my dad made it. Guessing he cooked it properly al dente and put lots of butter in, while her family didn't...)
I absolutely hate onions, so whenever my mom makes pasta I examine every single part of the plate, if there's one piece of onion, I'm not eating.
I was like this coz I hate the texture of onions, one day my mum made spag bol without onion and it tasted awful so now I know the importance of he onion flavour so now I either cut onion into 2mm pieces or grate it finely before adding to most foods. Or I cut them sooo big in things like casseroles etc just so it is easier for me to pick out.
Load More Replies...I'm like the opposite of a picky eater. If the food is too boring, I won't eat it. If I've eaten the food too much in the last few months, I don't want it. I can force myself to eat almost anything but boring food is my worst.
I'm the same, my partner calls me a food snob but I just like good tasty food! Bland food is the worst. Always so disappointing when you're looking forward to a meal and it falls way before standard!
Load More Replies...For the picky eaters who don't like certain fruits and vegetables, keep in mind a couple things; not all produce is equal, texture and taste can vary wildy depending on whether it's fresh, frozen, local, seasonal, the variety itself, or if it's ripe/overripe at that moment. Tomatoes get that mushy mealy texture from the fridge, it makes all the difference to keep them out of the cold.
And have a guess what tomatoes most food outlets use: fresh and ripe or cold-stored and unripe? I worked at a fruit/veg market that supplies to most of the restaurants and cafes around here - pretty decently sized area. Most tomatoes they send out are green. Worked in kitchens for more than 15 years, and most places want them like that. They'll sit in the box for a week and ripen up, but they'll usually be being used before that. It's very hard to get tomatoes in bulk on demand and ripe.

Load More Replies...Picky eaters annoy me, but then I try to remember that certain things (like mussels) make me gag even thinking about them, and I try to understand that for some people there are lots of foods that invoke that response. It would still be a relationship dealbreaker for me though, I think. I know that's very intolerant, but I really think it would be a major compatibility issue. And it would bring out the worst of my judgy side.
They are annoying bur, they aren't picky to be a pain in the ass. Many (not "all") are picky because it's one of the few things they have control over in their lives- what they put in their mouth. Had a friend in high school who was ridiculously picky. I'm talking like her tater tots had to be piled in odd numbers like 5 on the bottom, three on top of those, and 1 on the very top. She also had to have catsup in packets instead of bottles. She was borderline psychotic about it. She went to school on the opposite coast, got on her own feet, and got her career going. She turned into one of the most adventurous eaters I know. Met up with her in Korea and she explained she had zero say in anything growing up. She was told what to wear, what TV show she was allowed to watch, when to go to bed and when to get up. The only thing she had any control over was what went into her mouth. That all changed when she got away from that house.
Load More Replies...As a picky eater it was a bit upsetting to read this and the comments from people who have these ideas about who you are and why you are. My father for years thought my high dislike of tomatoes was some sort of fad and I was definitely never catered to by him nor my mother. I went through almost a year of elementary school not eating school lunches, hunger be damned. I actually like broccoli, spinach, and cauliflower while my brother the human garbage disposal does not. I am lucky enough that textures don't bother me, so I have tried many foods from all around the world. However, sometimes people are just people and we stick to comfort food. It has never bothered my friends that I love chicken nuggets and french fries and they like me for my personality and not my taste buds. They eat what is on their plate and I eat what is on mine and in the end we still manage to have a good time.
Picky eaters (at least the vocal type) make me angry. I try to not eat with picky eater friends under any circumstances because it costs so much self-control. (People with food allergies are no picky eaters in my book.)
Okay this is a little dark, but make sure to try to expand your flavor palate. After a while if the food you'll eat keeps decreasing, it can help fuel the start of an eating disorder. Obviously this isn't the case for most people, but it happened to me. I have sense recovered from my ED, but I still have to challenge myself to eat a new food once a week. Recommendation: when trying a new food try to find words to describe it, another food to relate it to, and make sure to take one bite at least. I hope this helps someone but trust me, eventually you'll get it :)
When I was young, I disliked burritos. Made me gag. Had to stay with a friend for a week and her mom made burritos one night. I've loved them ever since. Sometimes how a food is prepared can open your taste buds to things you didn't like before. As long you've tried it and knew you didn't like it.
