1 Hour After We Brought Wesley Home. Almost A Year Later And It’s Still His Favorite Position
I'm Wesleys human mom. He also has an incredibly loud purr that inspired his own Tik Tok account @SirWesleyPurrsALot. He and his brother Fezzik are such blessings to us
That's an excellent sleeping position. Also, it took me far too long to realise that the lump above the cat's head are a pair of crossed feet :)
Gosh! for a moment I thought you'd dropped your pants to show us your "pussy" !
He couldn't resist that one! !! I had to laugh 🤣😃😸

After the constant noise and smells and general stress of a shelter, it must be SUCH a relief to bee ablet to sleep in peace.
"She slept for hours." That's what I do dealing with stressful situations. She finally had a chance to soothe her anxiety.
Aww. She is beautiful and so content. This sweetheart needs some belly rubs and head scratches.
Same here. Found her on the street, on January, skin and bones, I told her "let's go home", she got in the car, the moment she touched the car seat, she snorred. We took her home, gave her a good bath, we tucked her in, and slept for days. She only got up for food, pee, poo. 107449785_...16ec1d.jpg
I think people who rescue furbabies are angels on earth. Thank you for taking in this sweet pup.

Luckily, more and more people are willing to follow the advice "adopt, don’t shop" these days.
In our previous interview with Louise Lee, the media officer at the organization Blue Cross For Pets, we found out that the stigma around so-called “‘broken’ pets is gradually changing and people understand pets are handed over for all sorts of reasons.”

In actual fact, the dog on the left is quite nervous about the dog on the right.
Nervous, but not necessarily in a negative way. Could just be nerves at having a lady on his bed for the first time :P

How can someone trough this little sweet thing out from a car? Why???Man I hate this evil people...thank you for being such a lovely person and give him all the love he needs!
I wish karma was literal and those heartless, evil people would get thrown from a car themselves...
Load More Replies...Why would anyone toss out a perfectly good kitten? I love that he picked you!
That's what happed to Blickle. She was thrown out of a moving car in an industrial mall and luckily someone saw it happen. At first they thought trash was being thrown but thought they also saw little white paws. They investigated and found a teeny tiny tuxedo kitten in the bushes, went through with mud in her eyes because it was a very rainy day. The next day she was in my arms!
Anyone who abuses an animal should receive an automatic death sentence. I don't give a f**k if it's a kid, or an adult. Once an a*****e, always an a*****e! Kill them and let the culling begin.

The tendency to adopt became especially prominent during the recent coronavirus pandemic when, in times of crisis, many were seeking a furry companion.
Pamela Reid, the vice president of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Behavioral Sciences Team, told Bored Panda that: "During this period of great uncertainty, one bright spot has been the incredibly passionate response from people willing to open their homes and hearts to foster and adopt vulnerable shelter animals."

Brought Home Our Tabby On Feb 1st...this Was A Month Ago. I Think My Fears Of My Tuxedo Cat Not Liking Her Were Squashed Officially After This Photo
You have officially convinced me to get a kitten. Give me 42 hours.
Incredibly, there has been a nearly 70 percent increase in animals going into foster care through ASPCA New York City and Los Angeles foster programs, compared to the same time period in 2019.
But the adoption boom was something other shelters could have never expected. "We thought people were going to bring their animals in and then run for the hills," Katy Hansen, communications director for the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), told Vox.
At any given time, ACC shelters more than 600 animals and now, it's less than 100.

This Is Faye Only Hours After I Brought Her Home. She Was Found Wandering Around In The Texas Summer Heat. Her Old Owners Were Uninterested In Taking Her Back. I Thinks She’s Okay With It
I will never understand how people can do that. My dogs are part of my family and I'd never, ever be willing to give them up.
I grew up out in the boonies. People would bring their dogs out there and just drop them off!! The best dog we ever had wandered in to our yard one day. She was sweet, obedient, loving, but obsessed with her frisbee. I can't imagine my childhood without her.

Load More Replies...No cone after neutering? My last pup had had to wear the cone of shame for what felt like ages.
If you can keep an eye on them to make sure they don't rip out the stitches then you can forgo the cone of shame. They will lick them if they get itchy, but as long as they don't pull them they are good. I've been helping with rescues for decades and have only had one dog who was insistent about trying to pull them out and had to wear the cone. If you have to get a cone they have soft ones now that will prevent them from pulling but be more comfortable for them.

This Was Taken On Monday, An Hour After Adopting Our Sweet Little Kitten
As if they'd always been there. That's one way my cat and I sleep.
My Daughter And Our Cat Just A Few Days After We Found Him : He Was Left Starving In The Streets.
You sure he’s not carousing in the neighborhood? My first cat just stayed home like one does until he started to get older... he got out and walked way way up the hill in a snowstorm and broke his leg in his quest to find a girlfriend. : ) Beautiful cat. He’s made himself at home.
Yes, we checked he wasn't just lost : we called the vets to see if anyone was looking for him, we left posters of him in the neighborhood, we put an ad on the website that specialized in lost pets : if someone was looking for him, he could have been easily found ! But no one claimed for him... So we kept him and we never regretted it : their loss, our gain!
Load More Replies...This Was The Same Night We Got Her
She was a stray along with her sister that someone found in the neighborhood. Someone posted on Facebook if anyone could pick them up since it was on there property but not their cats. They were covered in fleas and bleeding all over from bites. On top of that it was summer time in Georgia so it was really humid and wet. We picked up both of the sisters and brought them home and this one has never left my side since. They seemed even more happy whenever we got the fleas removed for good. This was 2 years ago and now every night she'll curl up under my armpit and sleep with me all night.
She reminds me of our Bailey, the coloring is very similar. I saw her picture in an email from a shelter while I had color on my hair. I rushed through finishing (how I looked be damned) and flew to the shelter because I knew she was the one. This is her shelter picture. 16105486_1...00f04c.jpg
Long shot, but you didn't find your kitty in Augusta, GA, did you? Our friends found our (at the time) kitten, Mila, on the streets of olde town in Augusta Dec of 2016. They managed to corner her, but said her sibling got away. I always wondered if Mila's sibling was ok. Like I said, long shot, big state, your cat and mine just look almost identical.

This Is Ginger, We Rescued Her From The Pound This Photo Is Her First Day In Her New Home. She Has Since Lost Any Insecurity And Is One Happy Pup
I wish it was easier to adopt from our Humane Society. I'm a renter and my landlord lives 3 states away. It's OK for me to have pets, but they need a verbal OK from LL, a written one doesn't work. I'd have 2 more rescues (at least) that I already have.
I don’t think she warms to people easily. : ) What a dear. My little guy would be an outlier in this Thread, he was miserable and my had was bloody. It took him a year. He’s still wounded somehow, though. But hes so loving and happy. He’s my son. Scared little bitty nut jobs can transform into butterballs. I can brush his teeth - wipe is bottom (I have long hair and sometimes his business hangs like an ornament. THAT took a long time. It’s amazing how they transform.

I'm copy pasting myself...it applies to dogs too! This is very cute but PLEASE put that cat in a cat harness and a seat belt,. You probably wear a seat belt . You put the kid in a kid safe seat. Cats can be in harness and seat belt. Or inside a cat safe crate / container. Please - even just hard breaking can turn a cat into a loose missile, that can damage/kill the cat. And that can cause concussion in a human it hits.
In my opinion, he wants to tell you that you have to be aware about his needs

Foster Fail!
13.5 hours into a 14 hour drive from California to Oregon to drop Lucy off at her forever home, I realized I couldn’t give her up.
Ohhhh boy, so many mixed feelings I'm having about this... On one hand, it's wonderful Lucy has a forever home. On the other hand, my heart is breaking for the adoptive family who were waiting for her. Had my pups' foster done this us, I'd have been devastated, traumatized, ruined.

Literally The Day I Got My Adopted Child
Violet On Left And Caracara The Day We Adopted Her. They Are Greyhounds 6 And 7 For Us
So many Greyhounds become rescues. Often, the females are (over) used as breeders for the dog racing trade. :-(
My dog (a cocker spaniel) is lucky that we adopted. We got her at £800, and now they cost up to £3780. We're worried about her being stolen, as, like greyhounds, they are often used for fighting. We have made some precautions to make sure this doesn't happen. We love her too much to let her go.
Load More Replies...Greyhounds are not used for fighting. They are extremely docile. Any aggression has been bred out of them because dogs that would rather fight than race don't earn money. Same as for breeding: females that do not earn are not bred because they need to establish good lineage for kennel owners to invest them. All of our seven greyhounds over the past 33 years were put up at age 2, when they are old enough to be tried at a track. Losers get new homes.

Adopted Him At 4 Years Old. First Weekend In His New Home And He Was Already Loving His New Life
Took Her A Day Before The Lockdown. She Instantly Became Our Friend
That's great, to have a new household member one day before the lockdown! And she is so cute!
When we rescued my ginger cat we found him locked in a cellar by his previous owners (still a kitten, taken away from his mum at quite a young age,) starved, dehydrated, abused and badly damaged by their other cat, who didn't appear to like him. We took him home, cleaned his cuts, fed him and gave him milk, and taught him to trust humans again. Now he is a part of our family and also rather fat. (He is always going round to our neighbours' house, where our neighbours give him beef, pork, chicken and whatever meat they have in the house. We have started to restrict his food slightly.) He even brings us back presents every other morning (yuck.)
Found In The Streets, Knew She Was Ours. (Tried To Find Another Possible Owner, Nobody Showed)
Sometimes I wonder if they wander off from Momma and get lost. Or something happened to Mom?
The best thing to do if you find a stray kitten on the street is to wait for Mom to show up, preferably somewhere she won’t notice you. If Mom doesn’t show after several hours, then you take the baby home or to the shelter.

Too often pigs are purchased tiny, with the owner having no idea how big they'll get, or how much care they will need. Then they're abandoned when they're no longer "small and cute". It's so nice to see a pig get the kind of love and room to play that he needs!
My sis once had a pot-bellied pig. I think they don't get very big. But she also lived in the country. She had horses and cows. Much better environment.

We rescued him but couldn't keep him. Too old for raising farm animals! Lol! Took him to the vet (broken leg!) and get him all fixed up and healthy and found him a good home!
Meet Otik. We Adopted Him On April 18th 2020. The First Pic Is The State His First Owners Left Him In And Eventually Decided To Have Him Euthanised. A Good Soul Saw Him At The Vet's Surgery And Saved His Life. A Month Later He Came To Us. He Is A Darling.
I am disgusted by the actions of his first owners- even if they had little money to look after his needs, they could still have 'cleaned him up'. A little coconut oil would have soothed his skin... *coconut oil is safe for use as a topical ointment and as an edible supplement
It also will kill fleas on contact. It really helped my dog.

Quite possibly... some people are cowards and would rather leave a defenseless dog to fend for itself(and likely die in a foreign place) than be responsible and offer it up for adoption.

Henry, Adopted From The Calgary Humane Society At The Age Of 12. His Previous Human Got Pregnant And Surrendered Him.
People are stupid- there was no good reason for the pregnant owner to 'surrender' him... misinformed.
He was such a special soul. He would have been amazing with the baby. I think she just thought of him as an inconvenience. We had a short but amazing 7.5 years with him until he passed from Kidney failure.

From Hoarding Situation, To His New Family, He’s Got A Second Chance!
This is Granite, or " Grant" for short. He came from an animal hoarding situation, and he was extremely fearful of people. He is still working on it, but 6 months in he is building trust, walking off leash and learning that not all people are bad.

Shelter Sisters For Over 2 Years
The girls were part of a feral colony that had been fixed and released back to their colony. Then months later the colony was being attacked by something (I never did find out what or who.) They were then brought to the shelter. Being feral they were not the friendliest kitties. They had been at the shelter just over 2 years when we brought them home.. The girls stayed under the bed for a few days. Abby, the smallest of the sisters, stayed under the bed almost exclusively for about 6 weeks. 5 years later they are loving, happy kitties.

This Is Ranger. So Skinny! (Also Had A Broken Leg!) Country Is Where They Get Dumped 😞
His Mom, Maggie, showed up a few days later. After we got Ranger healthy, we drove him to MI for his forever home (we live in AL). We are still godparents. Sucks to live on a country road. It's where so many unwanted pets get dumped.
I'm disgusted by people who treat their pets like trash... especially when they get older or injured.

I love that people adopt from shelters, rescue groups, and pounds. People need to stop supporting puppy (and cats too) mills and "backyard breeders."
Thank you K. LNU for your comment. It's incomprehensible why people still keep in business those cruel sub-human monsters who profit from animal pain and suffering.
