Freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consequences for what you say. It just means that you cannot be punished by the government solely on the grounds of what you say. Nobody else is bound by that in the First Amendment.

Just for a minute, set aside the fact that the First Amendment restricts the *government* -- not your employer (unless your employer *is* the government) -- from infringing your freedom of speech. Could someone please tell me where the idea came from that freedom of speech means freedom from consequences?

Freedom of speech is the right to address you beefs to the Government. It doesn't apply to the company you work for.

Neither of those two things are illegal and he didn't target anyone, he just expressed a pretty popular opinion. I don't agree with the sentiments, but expressing yourself on YOUR OWN TIME shouldn't ruin your life. Maybe try to discuss things instead of jumping to punishment.
