This is why I started using a pocket knife to sharpen pencils instead of a pencil sharpener. Then I just switched to mechanical to avoid all that nonsense.
I've been always sharpening my pencils with a blade and taught my daughter to do that, too. I'm an artist, so this way I can have the tip of the pencil exactly the size I need it. Funny story - when I was an art college freshman, my professor saw me sharpening my pencil with an exacto knife while there was a pencil sharpener in the room for everyone to use. "Let me guess," he said. "You must be Russian or Polish. I've only seen Russian and Polish students sharpening their pencils that way." Well, I'm Russian :)
What do you think ?

In many art schools pencil sharpeners aren't allowed; when I was a kid, have learned to sharpen pencils with a knife perfectly
That's weird - aren't pencil sharpeners safer than knives?
Congratulations! Your pencil lead got stuck again! Also why the f do the leads stop working when they're still like 3cm long?
Nah, I buy the fancy mechanical pencils. I gave up on the cheapies long ago!
