Dating is something that takes a lot of guts and experience from everyone who wants to be good at it. But nobody, not even your friend Trevor who spends all of his weekends chasing Tinder matches, is safe from making a fool of themselves. And some of these misfires can be painful not only for the two people who are on the date, but to everyone around them.
To prove this point, I'll ask you to take a look at the subreddit r/SadCringe. It's a place for awkward and/or embarrassing situations that also make your heart ache, and while we have already covered it in one of our older publications, this one is dedicated exclusively to pathetic attempts of winning over others.
I don't know if we should feel sorry for these folks or not — many from this bunch sound like they would fail a test in common decency. But let's try to judge their behavior rather than their personalities. If that's possible.

I think that maybe the friend needed to clarify. I was a single mother of two small children and my husband took a long time thinking it over before asking me out. He realized it was too important to the kids to have stability than to jump in before he really thought it over. He wanted to be sure that he was ready for that sort of commitment before inserting himself into the kids' lives. More people should think thinks over before jumping in.

THIS!!! This is why some women, myself included, have that persistent thought in the back of the mind. Does this person or others perceive this as flirting? When you’re being friendly, or just joking around with coworkers. For example I love my team we are always joking around with eachother (nothing inappropriate), even our manager is amazing and probably leads the charge when it comes to having fun. But internally I second guess myself and always feel I have to hold back a little bit more then my male colleagues.

Worst dude I ever had to deliver my food wanted to step into my home to place it on the table why asking what I was doing at the weekend. He didn't make it over the threshold, the restaurant was called to tell about this behaviour, didn't order again and made also sure that everyone in my circle knew about that creep... Eventually I was happy to notice that the restaurant went out of business 9 months later. Though probably because of their hardly mediocre food.

This is why I got a burner phone to use when I delivered pizzas. I had a regular customer who knew my schedule and ONLY ordered pizza when I worked and late at night and it was never the same address so we could never send someone else knowing it was this customer. He would order from friends houses. Relatives houses, bars, random Businesses n hed wait in his car for me to pull up and then say "hey that's for me! How are you doing today {my full name}? Also, my full name wasn't listed or used anywhere. He stalked me on fb. So weird. I made the mistake of using my real phone when I started and had to change my phone number 3x before I realized it was not going to stop n it was impossible to know if it was him ordering since he'd also use fake names and always paid in cash. He did tip well... but no amount of money is worth this type of s**t. He was also over twice my age. I was 18/19... he was in his late 40s or 50s.. Ladies, be careful if you're a delivery person!

Genuine question: have these techniques ever worked? I mean EVER in the history of flirting? Where are guys getting the impression that these are the methods to use? I get that persistence is a thing in "RomComs", but some of these fall so far on the "Com" side that it's just not funny any more.

I am reminded of something that happened in the mid-1970s when I worked in a gas station. A coworker who was fat, ugly and a jerk called up a girl he knew a d said "do you want some company?" And not much else. A few minutes later she drove up, and picked him up. About half an hour later she dropped him back. I was amazed, mostly at her lack of self esteem.

Sooner or later there will be 'nice men' who come on to comment about how the examples show women as b*****s. What is really sad is how some of these examples show women being harassed for sex, for nude pics, being catfished and having their number used by strangers. Not all men are like this, I am married to one of them. But those men who aren't like this, need to call out those who are. Enough is enough. Women are not objects to fulfil the whim of men. We have the right to be left alone, to say no, to have our privacy respected, to be treated as human beings.

That requires a certain level of intelligence AND emotional intelligence to achieve it. That’s totally beyond these examples ain’t it? Two (or more) people can randomly meet, converse, share a beer or a coffee, enjoy the moment and it doesn’t have to become anything other than that, equally it can be the start of the rest of your life together. When will the incels learn? Life is about crossing paths and enjoying the experience for its own merits, that’s where you start, that’s what makes life an enjoyable rollercoaster. I've never actually witnessed anything like this before, even when it's just "me and the guys," but all these were just so sad, pathetic, creepy, embarrassing, and some dangerous. I mean, I've had to tell guys to keep crap to themselves or to stop acting like a caveman but I've never seen this depth of worm-like behavior. I don't even know how I'd respond. Some of these people need therapy and consistent, positive human contact and some of the others need medication or incarceration. Like these are deeply woven, complex attachment, personality and emotional issues, a true glimpse at the vast multitude of societal problems and the lack of institutions or resources to counter it.

These guys would benefit from reading something like The Game or the 30 Day Style Challenge. The latter would be more help because Strauss actually teaches men/incels/whatever how to present themselves better, be more confident and stylish and generally how to be a better human male.

A lot of men think of women as an exotic specie and a prize to be won. If they viewed women as normal, equal human beings who don't exist as a pretty object out there luring men and choosing the strongest of prospects to give them babies, this wouldn't be happening at all. This is frankly disgusting.
