Clearly the father is concerned about the academic work, and will address that with the teacher. The point here is that children are more than scores on tests. I wish I worked with more parents who valued their children's character more than their grades.

Love this! Building on the strengths in a person and putting focus on character is what empowers people to rise. Academics grades are not always the correct measure of a person's ability. Most of the time there are obstacles or factors that need the right attention first.

this one should be higher up, because that is what most kids want. A dad that can be all those and spend time with you as you grow up.

I miss raising children. Mine are all grown up but I'm still Dad to my sons and Daddy to my daughters :) He says it all right here

Omg yes! I work so hard to cook for my daughter and I think "wow she's going to love this!" Then I give it to her and she's just like "no." Doesn't even try it. Just flat out refuses it :|

Reminds me of the day my sister called to ask for my Mac n'cheese recipe, because, she'd made it as specified in the family recipe, three cheese with crunchy topping, and they wouldn't eat it, they wanted the special one I made when I babysat...I said, first, I open the blue box, then, I follow the directions, once it's done, garnish with a sprinkle of pepper and serve...pretty sure she hung up after "blue box"

neither did I../ well I did ..... but I forgot....

Our education system is horrible. It discourages creating and discovery and being wrong. It beats creativity out of kids even though most subjects can be made super interesting if presented properly. I hated school but would go home and watch discovery channel all afternoon.

My school - then my sons', did this to us. My Grandbabies are in a completely different kind of school until 5th grade - then on to public - sooo sad - wish they could stay where they are. learning all the "common" things, but also growing things, watching butterflies evolve from caterpillars - learning manners and respect - being creative MOST of the day.

This is one of the great thing about kids that I love. Every thing is new to them so they are so teachable and eager to learn!
