Answer: You my friend, have just dissected dog poop. Someone’s dog has eaten paper towels in abundance. They can’t digest it and it comes out like this

My dog eats paper towel a lot and it doesn't look like this. More like twisted rope covered in poop. This must have been a massive dog that ate half a roll. 😬

This Is A On Gate Blocking Road Access To Some Cell Towers. Why So Many Locks, And How Would Someone Even Open It?

This Is A On Gate Blocking Road Access To Some Cell Towers. Why So Many Locks, And How Would Someone Even Open It?

Answer: You can open the gate by unlocking only one padlock. The way it's designed means that multiple people can use the gate, and if one person loses their keys, only their padlock needs replaced. As opposed to one padlock with many keys, you'd need to give tons of people the new key.

I'm pretty sure that is what that means. It looks like each lock is on a handle that will unlatch the gate, independently of the others.

Because they have automated suicide drones, armed with explosives that hunt their target down without human control and detonate when within close proximity. https://nypost.com/2021/05/29/killer-drone-hunted-down-a-human-target-without-being-told-to/ ; https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/34204/turkey-now-has-a-swarming-quadcopter-suicide-drone-that-it-could-export ; And people are still arguing that these technologies will work out because people are generally good... Another example that disqualifies that notion is the example of the single hacker (some hypothesise that maybe two others might help, but otherwise seems to work alone) who has crippled an entire multiplayer game (Titanfall) with various attacks, and is now doing the same to its sequel, purely out of spite, despite it's popularity, despite the developer's best efforts to counter his attacks, and despite that an entire community of people are trying to figure out who this person is and to dox them. One single person, and thousands are helpless. Welcome to the machine, indeed.

Previously, Bored Panda spoke with one of the subreddit’s moderators, who explained why people, in their opinion, become amateur detectives online and are willing to help confused people identify and solve these weird object puzzles.

“Many [people] have unique and obscure knowledge and they like to use it. Get enough of them together and they cover most things,” the moderator told Bored Panda. Other than that, it may have to do with showing off their great research skills, and the thrill of solving the purpose of objects that look completely out of this world.

This Structure I Found While Walking In The Woods, The Metal Bit Is About 2 Feet Wide And Looks Like It Could Uncomfortably Fit A Person In It. My Guesses Are A Well, Sewer Or Time Capsule. For Context I Live In Eastern Massachusetts. We Plan On Going Back To Open It

Answer: Definitely a man hole. Do not open it. DEFINITELY DO NOT GO IN IT! Manholes are notoriously deadly because they contain low oxygen percentages and high concentrations of poisonous gases such as hydrogen sulfide and methane. First responders usually find two dead people in manholes - the first one that went in and succumbed and their friend who watched them pass out and rushes in to help.

In the picture above,it looks like the lid may be on upside down. Usually it's flat on the outward facing side and will have something cast in the metal stating what it's covering. May have "sanitary sewer" or "storm drain" or the like on the side we can't see. Also, they are usually pretty dang heavy and a pain to open.

The unknown fluid is probably Trichloroethylene. TCE was used as a fire suppressant before it was found to be horribly toxic to the kidneys and liver- and can result in liver cancer. Also, back before they knew all this, in the 50's it was billed as a miracle solvent, for removing wrinkles from clothes with just a spritz. The commercials and guys in horribly wrinkly suits walk through a pool of the stuff.

Back in the 1980s, we had a couple of similar things hanging around our furnace. The house was built in the '50s, so they had probably been there that long. I think the glass was designed to break if it got hot enough, and spill the fire retardant.

Reminds me of an old joke, about a priest riding in a taxi, that gets in a crash. The driver and the priest are being given tours of their new accomodations in heaven, with the priest becoming increasingly disgrunteled because all of his things are rather tiny compared to the taxi drivers. St. Peter says, "well, you see.. .the thing is, when you preached, people slept. When he drove, people prayed." In any case, that thing also looks identical to a stitch counter (used for crochet or knitting,)

I have one of these! It's part of a puzzle/model kit. There are 2 companies that make THE most fantastic, wooden things and it's a wonder of engineering how they fit together. This is by ROKR and is a perpetual calendar (I have 6 of their products) They come on flat, pre-punched sheets and you carefully take each piece out, assemble it and have clocks, beautiful music boxes or complex marble "runs". Parts break or like the clocks, get to big a bigger hassle to use than it is to keep them so sadly this gorgeous work gets thrown in the trash. https://www.rokronline.com/products/rokr-3d-puzzle-perpetual-calendar-lk201

Because boredpanda cut off the explanation in the original answer... „Typically we had 2 employees "open" the branch while the rest waited in the parking lot or across the street for "all clear." The openers go in, turn off alarm, search the building and check everything then set the signal.“ If the card doesn’t appear, the waiting employees call the cops.

Not as reliable. Phones can be stolen, an employee can be coerced into sending message, etc... Something no one even thinks to notice is far more reliable

Witt? An Unusually Shaped Sink Possibly In A Corridoor, Spotted In A Property Listing On An Older House. Looks Quite Narrow, Probably Too Small For Washing Boots

Answer: It’s called a butlers sink, or cleaners sink. It’s used for cleaning, filling buckets, emptying out waste so housekeeping can wash down surfaces without wandering through the house.

I’m a city boy who lived in the country & discovered voles in my yard. Not being a native, I didn’t know the local critters so I would photograph them & look them up on the internet. That’s how I learned about voles. My neighbor, a lifelong resident of the country life, installed a wildlife camera on his property. One nighttime photo showed a family of voles eating the grain he’d dropped in front of the cameras. He showed me all the photos & when he got to that one he said “I don’t know what these critters are “. “Voles,” I said. And the city boy had to educate the country boy about the critters in his yard.

Found While Cleaning Out A Deceased Estate. At First Glance Looks To Hold Liquid, But Has A Large Hole In The Bottom So, What Is This Thing?

Answer: Wasp Trap. Sweet fluid and dish soap go in bottom. Stinging insects fly in, dish soap eliminates surface tension and coats them. They die/drown.

It's a fly trap. In the antebellum era, a trap like this would be placed on the dining table during meals so that flies would be attracted to a vinegar and sugar mixture in the bottom, and the vinegar would kill them.

That's 100% a vape with burnt coil heater. Similar to Volish, but I see it is another brand. There should be a glass but I guess it feel on the ground and is broken. It's also without a battery, just top part of vape - an atomizer. PS. The white and brown burnt thing is a cotton wool, that soaks liquid. It's an old model (made around 4-7 years ago I suppose)

I think it's cinnabar. It's toxic but they used to carve it into little containers. A red coral piece that big would be very valuable.

What Is This Boat Off The Coast Of Long Island, NY With Three Tall Smoke Stacks?

What Is This Boat Off The Coast Of Long Island, NY With Three Tall Smoke Stacks?

Answer: Not smoke stacks, piles. It’s a working barge, and those piles are lowered into the sea floor to stabilize the vessel while working. They are very commonly used on maritime construction projects such as bridge and tunnel building, surveying, shore protection, etc.

Metal Sphere With Russian Writing Found On A Bahama Beach

Why? Nitrogen is the N of N-P-K plantfood, N2 is a substantial and inert part of the air you breathe. Liquid it's dangerous at short distances (freezing things like bodyparts that shatter on the least impact) but after its travels this is just a bulb-shaped metal vat.

Odd Formation In Louisiana Coast - 29.323196471225256, -89.33106000180526

Answer: coastal erosion counter measure. they use a bucket ladder dredge with a bentonite injection pump to dig trenches 20-80 feet deep that are backfilled with the bentonite added mix. This pattern allows for natural inflow and outflow and will accumulate sedimentary deposits that would otherwise have washed to sea. Eventually plants will establish over these areas when the salinity diminishes.

Something like a concrete-like lattice/scaffold/skeleton, prevent dirt from washing away, allows water to flow in/out (must be porous), depositing more dirt/sand/silt/minerals/whatever, eventually providing filtration and giving plants a foothold when salt is reduced, and plants will give it better stability. Like I said on another comment, it's a plug for dirt.

Just for clarification: those pushers rather replace the knife, which you would not give to a baby anyway. Yet, once a children would be old enough to carefully use the pusher, you could also start giving it a (blunt) knife.

It’s a Dosima fascicularis, the buoy barnacle, is "the most specialised pleustonic goose barnacle" species.[4] It hangs downwards from the water surface, held up by a float of its own construction, and is carried along by ocean currents.

Not correctly. The long part of the door would be flush against the short part of the wall and stick out past the corner by at least a foot before the fold.

The restaurant receives the chicken already cut up. All they do is pick off any dangly bits of skin or fat. Since most bone in breaststroke are split so that it cooks evenly and completely it probably happened in the processing plant. I'm kind of guessing it was in a breast because it's the most likely piece to contain something like that.

An Excessive Amount Of (Chimneys, Various Vents?) On A House In Castile De Leon, Spain

An Excessive Amount Of (Chimneys, Various Vents?) On A House In Castile De Leon, Spain

Answer: Those are air ducts and the the flue for gas central heating. A third one is almost certainly for the garage. That building is subdivided into at least 2 apartments. Could be three. Our apartment has one for each for each vertical block of apartments. As in a flue duct and an air duct. You need a separate duct for the garage area as well it can't be on the same one. You can see the dividing line in the tiles here as well so one side was probably built a while after the other and so they couldn't share the center ducting or the garage. Find it on google maps and see how many house numbers are there. Could be four.

Noticed A Few Of Those Mounds Around, What Are They For?

Answer: As the others have said it's just a more attractive method of stopping parking/pedestrians. Usually see them around car parks or on High Streets in front of shops in older areas of the UK where they deem fences or metal barriers to be a distraction to the area. Same idea as the grass mounds you sometimes see on the sides of roads/parks.

Answer: They are almost certainly access for speakers or lighting. If you stop to think about what would be involved in using a lift inside you can see why the access is outside. My guess is that this is an older theater retrofitted or perhaps a partition wall was demolished. Up from that is a gate valve wheel, to shut off the main, up from that is a sampling unit, presumably for testing water purity at the main, the top is another type of block-off plate, it‘s needed because the pieces are all modular and capable of having more pieces/pipes bolted to both ends.

This is one I actually know. Lol. It's used to increase surface area in a bio-filter for fish tanks.

Yup. The fancy filter I had for my turtle tank used something very similar. The wagon-wheel shape gives lots of space for beneficial bacteria colonies to grow.

bio filter media in high end Reverse Osmosis filtration systems. They float around in a tank collecting 'good' microbes (slime) to filter out water.

What's The Long-Lasting Trail Behind This Boat?

What's The Long-Lasting Trail Behind This Boat?

Answer: This article says this is a persistent “turbulent wake” as opposed to the “Kelvin” wake that is the short lived wavy wake we are used to seeing. This article suggests that the “railroad track” turbulent wake is caused by thin films generated on the surface by the passage of the ship. There are photos in this article of this exact phenomenon. Answer: Road-portable tank for training/practicing underwater breathing devices? It does not look like it's meant to be submerged in water nor is it bulky enough for a pressurized decompression chamber.

This reminded me of the time we were driving down to Florida and drove alongside a tank like this. We could see a dark seal swimming around in it! It was so cool.

That doesn't explain the large central pipe/chimney.I'd suspect it's the heart of the swimming pool's systems. Then that central part contains an impeller, and possibly the waterheater, and six tubes suck in dirty water from opposite ends of the pool; they filter it before it's sucked to the six 'portholes' here and released upwards out of that centre.

The large opening on top could be where they enter for the underwater equipment testing

You want a free slug trap, just pour a little beer in the bottom of a mason jar and leave it outside. The slugs crawl in to drink and drown.

Yes, and the beer attracts snails from hundreds of meters around the trap. You can't drown as many snails as you are going to draw into your garden. In a good area, the jar is going to be filled to the brim overnight and the rest of the snails will look for something else to eat.

Uhm... how do you measure the amount of the water you used and therefore have to pay in other countries? Aren't meters a thing all over the world? 🤔

Those are very convenient. As a broke student, I always turned the hot water off unless I wanted to take a shower. I'm sure that might have saved, like, 10 Euro per year.

It's an important piece for the landlord as well. If you rent a place once a year an official person will check these numbers and based on your used water you have to pay for that water.

That is not an answer but a correction to the use of the word re-bar. So what is it for? Is one building holding the other up? :-D

Since the chosen answer isn’t helpful at all, I visited the Reddit thread. “It looks to me like they are there to support the balconies on both buildings. Those balconies look like they were added sometime after the original building was completed.”

But why would you want to link the buildings? Maybe it's a construction to support these balconies, that were added after the buildings were finished?

And it's not just ugly, it's potentially dangerous if the location gets earthquakes. If the two buildings don't sway in rhythm that thing could tear them apart.

If not for the other windows below looking clearly like windows of occupied apartments, I would think it could be outside access to the elevator shaft and machinery. My other idea is that they're just balconies added later on, connected to both buildings for extra stability.
